Located in the heart of Bologna's historic district, this little hotel is great value, very comfortable and has incredibly friendly and helpful staff. It's just a few minutes walk away from landmarks like the two towers and the main piazza which has loads of restaurants. And, as its name suggests, it is right in the middle of the university district. As many review was noted there is no lift, which is common in Italy due to historic buildings which this is, but the staff were more than willing to help us carry the suitcases upstairs. Breakfast is the usual continental breakfast, with both sweet and savoury options, including scrambled eggs. The room itself is very comfortable with great air conditioning and a bathroom with a shower. To my taste the bed with a little bit soft but my partner found it very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: 1. Extremely professional staff are prepared to give advise on the sights of bologna with a local map. We were also given a recommendation for an exchange spot for regional and delicious cuisine. The short walk to La TRATTORIA del Rossi was well worth the Bolognese cuisine, quite different from Florence. 2. Rooms offer functional space for luggage, unlike most comparable hotels 3. Beds were comfortable 4. Air conditioning was functional in high temps and humidity 5. The breakfast was unexpectedly impressive. We've stayed at many hotels in Italy with breakfast included and it was often a processed croissant in a plastic bag with coffee. [Traditionally, breakfast isn't big in Italy so it's a nice surprise to see such a variety of hot and cold options.] 6.The location of the hotel was very convenient. We were able to easily walk to the leaning towers sitting amongst the oldest parts and best preserved areas. Cons 1. There is not a lift, and your room will be either on the 2nd or 3rd floor (Italian 1st or 2nd piano). To help this situation there is man at the front door to carry your luggage. If you cannot lift your luggage up at least one flight of stairs take them up on their offer to help before you hurt yourself in the process. Tipping is probably appreciated, and let's be serious; don't let a couple Euros get in the way of avoiding an injury on your holiday. 2. Kind of reminds me of a very nice asylum, only because there is not even "motel art" on the walls, but who's looking when you're sleeping. 3. If you are a little bigger you might have trouble with the shower pod, but get used to it because they are very common in the other hotels we've stayed around Europe. The DOwn Low: This hotel is a good price for its location and amenities but quite simply it needs to be redecorated, maybe with some colour thrown on the walls. It looks like it was at its prime about 20 years ago. If your looking for aesthetics maybe try another but don't go any further out. It's a joy to walk back in the evening after dinner surrounded by the bright faces of the Univeristy students. We were surprised by the old town of Bologna. Make sure to visit the Cathedral of San Petronio, patron saint and founder of Bologna.

Nice hotel. Hotel staff very friendly. Breakfast good. Room clean. Bathroom a bit dated. It can be a bit noisy at night as our room was above a pizza shop where the students seemed to meet at night, but we didn't mind as it was nice to hear people laughing and enjoying themselves. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the centre and just over a 20 minute walk from the train station.

Simple hotel in the city centre with a very good breakfast. nice crew. just some noise from outside night life if you are going to bed early to work the day after. on the other side, you need just one minute to enjoy good restaurants and pubs. very fast wi-fi

We stayed for one night in early June. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Only a short walk (10 minutes) to the main sights. Many options of bars and restaurants within 5 minute walk. There is car parking but be warned if you have a large car (we had a Ford C Max), the carpark is quite difficult to get into with a narrow entry in a fairly narrow street. We did get in with our car though. The room was a good size with air conditioning. The bathroom was extremely small, but not a problem. It was all very clean. There is no elevator in the hotel. Good breakfast with very fresh pastries. We thoroughly recommend it and we would definitely use it again.

Loved this hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely with a hot option of scrambled egg, a nice touch and some cold meats. Room was over a pizza restaurant, the only complaint was that the room was very hot. I can only imagine it was from the pizza oven. There was however air conditioning which we had to keep on all night. It was quite noisy. But all in all would recommend his hotel for location and value for money.

The hotel is located in a lively part of town with many students and plent of bars. It was lovely to see so many young people enjoying university life with such good humour. The hotel itself is simple but acceptable for a nights stay, I would have stayed longer had I had more time to spare. Bologna is a beautiful and atmospheric city

This is a very standard hotel. My single room was tiny and not beautiful at all, there was no view and I needed extra blankets to keep warm. Bathroom especially was terribly cold but very tidy. I enjoyed the breakfast: bread, toast, scrambled eggs, müsli, corn flakes, youghurt, fruits, cakes, cheese, ham, jam... Wifi works fine in the room. Take slippers, hair conditioner and ear plugs with you and you'll be all right.

This is a hotel I would use again. Located on the edge of the university quarter it offers a view of a lively city. Good trattoria next door, pasta making shop across the road plus more restaurants. The American Bar in an old chapel is near by. The hotel is comfortable, clean & within walking distance of Piazza Maggiore. The staff are pleasant, helpful & speak English. The breakfast is excellent as local good quality breads, cheese, ham, eggs, jams, fruit & coffee are on offer. The rates are very economical! There is no lift & no full length mirror in the bedroom. If these don't matter (& for us they didn't !) then this is the place to base your Bologna visit.

This hotel is in a great location, has friendly staff and a nicely decorated reception / breakfast area. However, the noise at night is terrible. This hotel is in the heart of student land, and I lost count with the number of times I was woken up, it's like trying to sleep in a pub. I would recommend a very good pair of ear plugs if you stay here. (Even with windows and shutters closed the noise was unbearable at times) The rooms are quite basic, a shame considering the style of the hotel reception and ground floor. For the price paid I would have expected more. Breakfast is ok, but I found myself needing to eat something soon after.
