Aemilia Hotel Bologna

The look and feel of this hotel is a bit sterile and "corporate" but it has so many positive points. Rooms are spacious clean and very comfortable. Enormous bed! Good lighting and air conditioning. Also very quiet for such a vibrant city. Only 15 minutes walk from the city centre. Breakfast choices very good. This will be our first choice when we return to Bologna if the room rate remains reasonable

We had a two night stay at this hotel prior to moving on to Tuscany. We arrived by car and had a little trouble finding the hotel as the hotel signage is not especially dominant sharing a board with a car park sign. The hotel is not far down the road in which it is situated on the left should other travellers be driving into Bologna. The hotel is clean and modern so although not having a great deal of character is a nice place to stay. We had a room on the 6th floor with views of the historic centre. If you get one of these, you will be happy with the view. Air conditioning was effective and quiet - bliss as we enjoyed very hot temperatures during our stay. The bed was huge and also comfortable; the bathroom had a good shower. On one night we had a nice meal in the restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the only criticism is that the lighting is quite bright so affects the overall atmosphere. On a separate occasion we also enjoyed a snack in the bar along with our drinks. Service throughout was good and staff all had a great attitude. One thing to keep in mind is the distance from the centre. The site I booked through says it is a few minutes walk. I'd say it was around a 10 to 15 minute walk to enter the edge of the centre and then some more to get to the two towers, which are likely to be the first of the 'things to see' entering the city from the hotel direction. If you are arriving by car however, parking for this hotel is easy. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and if returning to Bologna, we would most certainly consider staying at this hotel again.

We got a taxi direct from the airport (20 euro) and were glad we had as it is a fair walk to the station. We received a welcome drink and decided to eat at the hotel that evening with arriving late, the food and service were excellent and the 10% discount was a plus. We stayed 3 nights in a room on the 6th floor and 1 night on our return on the 5th floor, both rooms were excellent with lovely views. I particularly liked the spaces to put your suitcases which meant we didn't have to unpack everything for our short stays. The air con we found was very quiet and efficient and another plus was a free bottle of water each day. We loved the garden area next to the bar and thought it was a pity that you couldn't have breakfast outside even though the breakfast room was nice. Personally I would have liked somewhere to sit in the shade on the 6th floor terrace, it was very hot when we were there and I was not able to enjoy this space. Our overall experience was excellent with friendly welcoming staff and the hotel was spotless throughout.

I stayed 3 nights with my teenage son (visiting the car factories). The hotel is very nice - very clean with a very courteous and helpful staff. It is about a 15 minute walk to the historic part of the city. The food from both the bar and restaurant was good. Lots of breakfast choices. Some nice areas to relax - both inside and outside. The free Wifi worked great in the room and the common areas.

This is a great little hotel the staff are very friendly and helpful. We arrived very late and had drinks o the terrace. The rooms were clean and fresh. There was a good choice at breakfast. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the centre. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I agree with all the positive comments, other people have left. The Hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and polite. They could speak English well. The bed was very comfortable and slightly larger than a standard double bed. (I was in room 210) Here are some bullet points : 1) The safe in 210 was broken. I probably should have reported this. 2) Breakfast was continental selection. of croissants, rolls, e.t.e there were cooked items but was the same for the 4 nights I was there. cut up sausage (Seriously, do they think I am 10) scrambled egg or fried egg, streaky bacon and mushrooms. The selection of breakfast items was good but this could have been better. 3) The roof top has no shaded areas, or parasols. 4) The views from the 6 floor roof top was amazing and worth a visit. 5) No Kettle in room with no tea/ coffee facilities, just a mini bar. If you wanted a coffee you will have to wait fr the bar to close at 12 pm where they provide complementary coffee, but who is going to want to drink coffee at 12 pm ? 6 ) I was charged City Tax of 2 Euro per person per night. 7) FREE Wi Fi and television only had 2 English speaking channels. The walk into the town centre took me 15 minutes. I got a taxi and it was between 7 and 8 Euro. If you go out the Hotel on to the road turn right and right again to get on the main road. Turn right and this will take you into town. follow the signs for centre but it is literally, straight down this street for 3 or 4 minutes. On the main road if you walked up the street, you would come to a taxi rank. It was never any more than 10 euro to get into own or the main train station. Oh and I am not being racist but there was these Afro Caribbean chaps, there were all dressed in red t shirts wandering around asking tourists for money. Look away and walk on. It is rude but it has to be done. I saw a lot of these chaps wandering around. Some were alone and some of them were in pairs. Do not engage, just walk on. Lastly, be very careful with passport and money. It seemed obvious but my hat and scarf was stolen from the tourist information centre while I was looking at a map on the wall ! seriously, in the tourist info centre ! Ignore people who try to solicit money and go and enjoy your Spag Ball !

This is a great hotel, and one to stay in while in Bologna. A much appreciated free welcome drink from the bar when we are arrived, lovely room, great staff, lovely breakfast, etc., I could not fault one thing with this hotel.

The hotel is a true 4 star hotel, modern, comfortable and with friendly staff. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom very nice and clean. There is a safe in the room which is like a lockable drawer, very useful and spacious. The aircon can be altered within 3 degrees but you can ask the reception to set it for you which is just a click on the computer. Breakfast has a good selection. It is in a quiet road away from the bustle of the centre but within 15 minutes walk. I understand that the Wifi is fibre optics and fast. There is a roof garden but we didn't go there. All in all a good comfortable hotel.

We stayed 3 nights. Hotel was clean and quiet. Breakfast included with room price was all you could want. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only drawback was the location was not city center. However we were able to walk to where we needed to go without much trouble.

I stay periodically in the hotel and rarely I had something to report for improvement or repairing... which, needless to say, was done immediately! I certainly would advise a friend getting to Bologna for work or tourism, alone or with family, to stay at the Aemilia!
