Stayed here for a week (Aug 6-11) and had a pleasant experience. Staff were very courteous, helpful and tries their best to speak in English language to be able to communicate with their guests like me. My Deluxe room is very spacious, always clean and well set-up. Breakfast has a decent array of cuisine which I observed is checked daily by the Manager. Also the manager takes his rounds to talk to their guests to make sure all is well. This is a differentiating value added service to discerning guests. Although location of the hotel is far (4th ring) from CBD, it is very close to subway. Taxi is everywhere so going around is likewise easy. Points of interest nearby are shopping mall - City Mall can be reached by foot; Beijing Zoo and The National Stadium is just a few stops away by subway. As the hotel is quite aging already, the rooms are still good. One point for improvement though is their maintenance must be proactive in checking the room facilities routinely. In this way guests complaints will be avoided.
The staff was nice at this hotel, but the big issue I had was that the air conditioning in the room and common areas was very poor. I live Dallas, TX so am not unfamiliar with heat. However, the room never got cool, and then the hall ways were like a wall of heat when walking out of an already warm room. It really made my first few days in Beijing miserable, until we moved hotels. There was also either smoking rooms, or the non-smoking policy was not enforced. Stench of cigarette smoke was all around.
Its sounds funny but the Chinese restaurant here is excellent. You will die for the food. The hotel staff very helpful and courteous. The room was ok, but our bed was rock hard, which for some I get is OK.However if you are used to softish beds wow are you in for a surprise. Hotel is located close to the Metro/Tube. Navigating the Metro is easy, and so getting around Beijing is equally easy.
I stay in this location every summer when I take business trips to China. Its location is ideal for accessing the universities and institutions in Zhongguancun. However, I don't like their policy of not giving me IHG credits since the hotel is usually paid by the third party in my case. I don't think they would save anything real by denying these credits but someone someday will be turned off by such a petty practice and move elsewhere - other name brand hotels do not care who actually pays the bill.
I was in Beijing, not my favourite City in the world, for work. The Crowne Plaza was great - being in a Club room made it a bit easier - Beijing is not an easy City to deal with so having a haven like the Crowne Plaza was great.
This remains a solid selection in the area for business or leisure travel. The hotel has maintained well both in public areas and in individual rooms. In terms of location I rate the hotel highly. It is close to many stores and also easy to get around by car. My room is spacious with good amenities. Breakfast room is also quite well designed, with a decent selection of food. However I find the staff lack warmth. In fact when I was checking out one of the guests was complaining loudly about one of the front desk staff. I do not know what happened, and it could be that the guest was impolite, but the hotel should know how to handle such cases better so that other guests are not so disturbed.
This hotel is a little aged, but with a wonderful gym and swimming pool. The managers are very dogmatic, promising an early check in and could not keep their promises, blackmailed my tired guests to a higher price. Only after very loud and embarrassing discussion, the manager on duty had to ask their GM, for a correction of their mistake. Should the hotel not change their basic attitude, I would not return to this hotel in the future. One can easily see that the hotel is managed by procedures, but not by common senses of human being. Dogmatisms instead of ownership as management doctrine. The GM has too little trust in his team so that every smallest compromise to make guest happy has to be approved by GM. Thanks gods we can choose and do have alternatives.
My second time in this Crowne Plaza in Beijing and I was not disappointed, The hotel room was quiet and had lots of space. The breakfast is plentiful with western and Chinese dishes. I liked the coffee as well. Hotel staff was friendly but sometimes their English was not that great. Should you need them the subway entrance is just few hundred meters away next to closest MacDonalds. Two shopping centres are located within few minutes walk. At the hotel we also had access to Club Room serving free drinks and food.
I stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Beijing on business. The hotel was located near to the offices that I had to visit and actually offered a free shuttle service to and from these offices which was great. The hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. My room was very spacious and clean with ample supplies of towels and toiletries and good air conditioning. I tried both the Italian and Chinese restaurants in the hotel and both offered a great range of choice and were very tasty. The Italian restaurant deserves a special mention for its very extensive wine list. If I had one negative point, it would be that the wifi could be a bit faster as it almost grinds to a halt during peak usage times. Overall, my stay was very enjoyable and I shall stay at this hotel again next month when I am back in Beijing.
Its in the 4th ring. 30 minutes going to the Software Park where most of the big companies are. Its also very close to a few malls and some great restaurants. Very helpful staff. They would get taxi for me everyday in the morning. Breakfast selection is good.
