I was there for a 4 days business travel. Have breakfast everyday, the breakfast is so good, it has many options both Chinese and Western. The check in process was so fast, even though we were a group of 40 people. The rooms are so comfortable and quiet. The hotel has a metro station in a walking distance. Overall Good experience!!
It all looked impressive enough on arrival: Nice looking building in a good location. I had all the expectation of arriving at a 4/5 star hotel for international travelers. That impression was confirmed by the efficient, polite and friendly bell men who greeted me from the limousine on a well maintained, clean and well appointed forecourt Similarly the lobby has impressively tall ceilings, and the check in staff handled me very professionally. But it all went pear shaped when I arrived at my room. After the bellman had left, I noticed that the room was hot and stuffy. When I went to the thermostat, it showed 28 centigrade - or 82 Fahrenheit. No problem I thought: it's minus 7 centigrade outside - I'll open a window. But when I went to the windows, they were glued shut - such that I could not open them. So I went back to the thermostat to turn on the cooling, but there was no cooling option. Just fan speed. And no matter how I played with it, the ventilation kept pushing out warm air. My next step was to call reception to ask if I could change rooms. Their very quick response was that they would send up an air-conditioning unit. But without a window to open, the only thing a self standing unit could have done was to move the warm air around more. So before the unit arrived, I went downstairs to ask for another room. I was irate, having gotten off a 9 hour flight from Zurich and they handled it well, (again, the staff were first class). What they did was offer me another room in another part of the hotel. This room was huge - a suite, and it had two windows that I could open. But I could not do anything to stop the steady breeze of hot air coming from the vents, and, as with the other room, no aircon. All of this made me realize that the building simply has a lousy, or perhaps non-existent ventilation system. In parts the corridors are super-warm, in others not. But I found it stuffy everywhere. Eventually I found myself another hotel which is where I am writing this review and I'm much happier. The Crowne Plaza would not be a bad hotel if it were not for the ventilation. It's very clear to me that, at best, it's not working well and at worst, it's broken. Worth adding that I am sensitive to this: there were certainly guests who were happy to be staying there.
I stayed in a club level room for 10 days. The room was very nice and spacious. Definitely better than 4 stars but maybe not fully 5 as some other hotels in Beijing. If you see most of my other reviews you will know that I'm Diamond in Hilton but the nearest Hilton is about an hour from my Beijing office. This time I decided to stay in the Crowne Plaza because it is a 10 minute commute during rush hour. I'm not sure how a typical room is but on the club level they were nice. The lobby is beautiful. The internet in my room was good. I had no problem running my VPN. Bottled water was provided every day. The lounge while not huge was also not over crowded. You have a choice to have breakfast in the lobby restaurant or in the lounge. The lobby restaurant breakfast had many choices and was really nice but I'm not a huge breakfast eater so I ate all but one breakfast in the lounge. A special shout out thanks to the lounge staff. They were great. Very polite. They made my stay very comfortable. They nudged the rating to 5 stars.
The room is very good The service is also good They even speak English The swimming pool , sauna and Turkish bath is amazing The breakfast was good too But Never ask for a massage in the 1st floor : don’t even go Besides when I arrived early morning 7 am from the airport , in the reception they asked me to pay a full night I complained and they decided that I had to pay half a night We were so tired that we had to accept. That was the first time in my life that I had to pay for that reason. And the flight from Madrid to beijing arrives always at that time
Check in was very smooth. The hotel had many amenities, restaurants, gym, pool. We had a great time. The room was very spacious, cleaned. The air conditioning wasn’t on so the room was a bit hot. I’d come back!
This is one of the nicest Crown Plazas I’ve stayed at - nice lobby, spacious and pleasant rooms, very good breakfast with lots of options. What really makes this hotel stand out, however, is the service. The concierge recommended a nearby restaurant for Peking duck and gave us a map, but we got lost anyway. We called the hotel, and they said they would send us a taxi to our location. When the taxi arrived, we were surprised to see the concierge in the front seat. We paid the taxi, and he not only walked us to the restaurant (we were so close!), he talked to the host at the front desk to ensure they could still serve us our deck. Given our extremely limited Chinese language skills, this was incredibly helpful. I highly recommend this hotel!
Stayed here for 4 days for a business trip that required interviewing university students using the hotel's conference facilities and meeting rooms. From the airport it took 40 minutes to get to the hotel by taxi with a fare of around 110 RMB. Overall, an excellent and pleasant stay. Booked a club room which comes with lounge access on the 20th floor and a room on the club floors (17-19). I was in 1934 which is just steps away form the elevator. The room and bathroom were large (see photo) and had all the amenities I needed. Nice touches included a multi-national power sockets so I did not need an adapter for my HK plugs. There was also CNN and BBC which was nice. WIFI was fast, though of course some services like Google, Facebook and WhatsApp were blocked. Club lounge on the 290th floor was very capacious and the breakfast and happy hour options were very good. Staff were generally excellent, from the reception, bell boy, to the fitness centre staff etc. Their English was not by all means fluent but they made a big effort and I had no problem communicating with them. I booked the meeting rooms for two days and was very impressed by the professionalism of the team and the great meeting rooms in general, which made by interviewing so much more pleasant. Overall, I highly recommends this hotel for business travelers.
The Crown Plaza Zhongguancun in the Haidian district is one of several Crowne Plazas in Beijing. In comparison with some of the Chinese 5-star hotels, such as the Liaoning International nearby, it looks understated and plain. Yet it’s more expensive. The rooms are nothing special either, lacking any sort of sense of occasion. Being a Crown Plaza, one would think the staff (at least the front desk) would be fluent in English – nope, they struggled. Breakfast is served in what looks more like a mid-priced cafeteria than a 5-star international hotel chain. If you are staying in the Haidian district, go to the Liaoning – it’s miles better. Waste NOT. Want NOT.
There aren't enough stars to show how great this hotel is. We stayed for 3 nights and didn't have a single glitch. It is clean, it is spacious, the rooms are non smoking, the staff all speak good English, and helped us with a variety of tasks. You can exchange money, buy a pollution mask, and arrange whatever you need. There is an easy area for taxis to come and go. The lobby is spacious there is a cafe on the main level that serves all meals. We ate there for dinner, and that is where the spectacular breakfast buffet is served in the morning. There are selections for every pallet, western or eastern. To name a few, there's the typical eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, muffins, breads and croissants. There is fresh fruit, cereals, hot and cold milk, juices, cheeses and cold cuts. There is a whole selection of steamed buns, a made to order noodle bar, veggie bar, and congee. The other restaurant is fancier, and serves a diverse menu of Chinese dishes, categorized by region as well as comfort food. Again the service and attention of the staff is very good. The room was very comfortable. Everything worked, including the blissfully cool air conditioning. Even though my room was across the hall from the elevators, I never heard a thing. The lights are soft, the bed is comfortable and the towels are heavenly, gigantic and super soft and sparkling white, like the comfy robes and slippers. There's ample closet space, a mini bar, settee and chair. No desk per say, but there's a chair for the table. The bathroom has a shower, big soaking tub, hairdryer with diffuser attachment! CNN, BBC etc are available on tv. The neighborhood has good location between two subway stations, ( line 4 and line 10) there's a 7-11 next door and a mall with food court just a bit away. There is a gift shop. The hotel has a huge pool, locker rooms with sauna available. Swim cap is required, and sold on site.
Stayed here for a week (Aug 6-11) and had a pleasant experience. Staff were very courteous, helpful and tries their best to speak in English language to be able to communicate with their guests like me. My Deluxe room is very spacious, always clean and well set-up. Breakfast has a decent array of cuisine which I observed is checked daily by the Manager. Also the manager takes his rounds to talk to their guests to make sure all is well. This is a differentiating value added service to discerning guests. Although location of the hotel is far (4th ring) from CBD, it is very close to subway. Taxi is everywhere so going around is likewise easy. Points of interest nearby are shopping mall - City Mall can be reached by foot; Beijing Zoo and The National Stadium is just a few stops away by subway. As the hotel is quite aging already, the rooms are still good. One point for improvement though is their maintenance must be proactive in checking the room facilities routinely. In this way guests complaints will be avoided.
