My father and I visited this hotel for a short trip to attend a football match. This hotel was very nice, spacious clean room with a safety deposit box and balcony area. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall have no complaints with my visit.
Negatives: - Very small bed and the bed was too hard for us. - No view at all, we had our room in the first floor, so it was very dark all the time. - The lightning in the bedroom didn't bright up the room very much. - The bedroom/bathroom needs an upgrade. The floor was all bubbly/airy, there were a few cracks here and there on the walls too. - You can here absolutely everything through the walls (people using the bathroom and talking in the hallway) Positives: - Very good daily cleaning - Friendly and helpful staff - Nice entrance to the hotel In total it's ok to stay here for maximum two to three days as long as you have things to do outside of the hotel. I will most likely not return to this hotel as I like more comfort and privacy when I stay at a hotel.
I recently returned from a two night pre cruise stay at this Hotel. After occupying my room for only one and a half hours at 11.30pm I heard someone keep trying to open the door. Suddenly the door opened and a man entered the room, all the lights were on and I was watching a film on the television. I got out of bed as quick as I could for a 73 year old to confront the intruder who tried to tell me he was a maintenance man come to do a repair as there was a notice on the door to that effect when it was a do not disturb notice. All though I am quite old maybe my one saving grace was that I am quite large in stature weighing some 260 pounds. The man left the room and i quickly got dressed and went down from our room on the top floor to report the matter to the receptionist. I had to wait to report the intrusion as the single receptionist was busy. While I was waiting the Intruder that I had confronted came walking back into the hotel from outside. He soon realized who I was and left very quickly. I then told the receptionist what I had happened and at first he suggested it may have been another hotel guest that was the intruder, here I must add that having been involved with the Criminal Justice System for almost thirty years in the UK I know when someone is trying to rob me. The receptionist made a note of my complaint he also tried to say that my door must not of been closed properly or locked, I assured him that the door had been firmly closed and locked from the inside before the intruder entered. The following morning I asked to see a manager and was told that there was not one on duty. I then asked if they had closed circuit television and that by looking at the recording I would be able to point out the intruder, this request they refused. At no time did they want to involve the police. This Intruder had good knowledge of the hotel layout as he was trying to rob me on the top floor of the hotel. He in my opinion had either a pass key or some kind of tool to open doors. there was a indentation mark in the door frame opposite the door lock of which I have pictures of. All in all there is little or no security in this Hotel they should have a duty of care for the safety and security of there guests, perhaps because if the robber had managed to steal some of my valuables they would use a disclaimer to say that the are not responsible for any loss you may suffer.
I’ve never been on a city break that required so much use of transportation. It was in a good location because it had bus stops and a few stations near by but if I was to book I would book a hotel closer to the centre because to walk to places it isn’t close. A good 20/25 minute walk to attractions. But they were friendly staff and very helpful with anything. But many supermarkets and tapas and cafes all around the hotel. But I think it’s more residential than touristy.
Hotel not in a good area if you’re visiting as there is nothing near by just a bunch of businesses. There is a market near by to get water, snacks, ect and some restaurants. A short walk to metro station (Hospital Clinic-line 5) to enjoy the town. The room is clean and a bit more spacious than other hotels I stayed at. You have everything you need in the room: safe box, coffee (didn’t use), fridge, hangers and place to hang clothes, sufficient lights, toiletries, TV with English channels, pen to write with, clean set of towels, AC/heater that runs quiet, water pressure just right and hair dryer. Bathroom is decent size and very clean. The bed is comfortable and sheets are clean. Other than location it’s a great hotel to stay at. I’ve enjoyed my stay.
This location was close to a metro station which was very useful. Also a few cafe's and a supermarket are close. I feel like it was a fair price and the staff was very friendly and gave us advise when we arrived on activities to visit.
I spent three nights here and I have to say that I enjyed it very much. It tailored to exactly what I needed. As a person that spends most of the day out of the hotel and eats all of my meals on the go when Im abroad, this place was swell. I cant attest to the food because I didnt eat there, but it looked like they have a proper good kitchen about. The room was a bit small, but i wasnt lokking for a presidental suite, i was looking for a comfortable clean bed, a comfortable shower and quite at the end of the day when I go to bed. that i s what i got. the room was clean, the bathroom was large and spotless. i would completely reccomend this hotel for anyone looking for a nice place to sleep and rest at the end of a long traveling day. it is situated smack in the middle of everything, so that was a plus. I got all what I expected. 5 stars
We stayed here for three nights as it was booked for us by one of the universities in Barcelona. The hotel is clean, the beds comfortable and the staff helpful but it is not in a good location - it is quite far away from the city centre (in the area called Eixample which means extension). There is no pool and nowhere to sit outside. One of the trip advisor reviews said this hotel had a great roof terrace but we were told this was closed (in September!). We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening as the reviews said it was good - it wasn't. We could not eat our dinner. I would NOT go back to this hotel
My daughter and I travel quite a bit through Europe and you've got to cut boutique hotels some slack. The bed was comfortable the pillows were great and the staff was very very accommodating. Breakfast was your standard European breakfast and I have to say that dinner wasn't the best outside of the smoked salmon salad which was excellent. We would come back in a heartbeat the value was great and it was 55 minutes to anywhere that we wanted to go including the beach.
We are back from Barcelona a few days having stayed at the Zenith Borrell,I was very aprehensive about staying here having read some of the reviews but I was so pleasently surprised. From check in to check out we found nothing but professonalism. The staff are amazing, from the reception staff to the breakfast staff and the cleaning staff, nothing was too much trouble for them.We arrived very early so David on reception took our luggage for us and we headed out as our rooms were being made up,the rooms are very comfortable with a lovely large bathroom with lovely big fluffy towels plenty of wardrobe space and a safe, the Television channels are very limited where English speaking channels are concerned, just News channels but that did not bother us,the wifi is very good, the cleaning staff Are excellent, the area around the Hotel is very safe with lots of shops and restaurants and the walk to Las Ramblas is approx 25 mins at your leisure or a taxi costs 7 euro. The breakfast was lovely on our first morning ( Thursday) but it was not great after that, very hit and miss,we had lunch on one of the days and it was delicious and very good value,I would highly recommend it,I mentioned to Salvador on reception that we had an early return flight and we would miss breakfast and he organised a breakfast pack for the 4 of us consisting of a sandwich, apple, orange juice and a bottle of water,it was such a lovely gesture,we have never come across this in all of our travels so a big Thank You to Salvador, also I would like to mention Alexis on reception who was very helpful and even printed off our return airline boarding passes for us.We did the hop on hop off bus which costs 29 euro for 1 day and is great value,we found most Restaurants to be fairly priced but I would like to mention on one of the days our Husbands went for a walk to the Port/ Harbour area and stopped in the Ramblas area at a Restaurant called Capuccino, Ramblas 76,they ordered a sandwich and a large beer and were shocked at the price of the beer which was 10.85 euro each, the receipt said a cervesa magnum which consists of 2.63 pints but they are adamant that the glass held no more than 1 pint at most, that was the only bad experience restaurant wise we encountered as we found the food and drink to be very good value in all the other restaurants we visited. Finally I would like to say I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Zenith Borrell and would happily stay here again should I ever return to Barcelona.
