I booked this as it was a first time for my in laws in Barcelona. This is ideally located approx. 300 metres from Nova Icaria beach and 10mi s walk from the hustle of Port Olimpic. The rooms are quite standard however but the service itself is exceptionally.
Very Nice hotel and not too price! Friendly staff at reception, bar and clean and modern rooms. The only desadvantage are the very noisy English tourists. From early on around the swimming pool they make noise. Even after midnight they walk in the corridors making an incredidable noise without respecting other guests. Long live Brecht!
Our first time in this hotel. Our third time in Barcelona. ---- We arrived early, and had informed so in our booking: Room was ready, no extra charge. We also informed in our booking that view was more important than everything else, & got a nice city view with sea in the horizon :) Thank you! Room was good & clean with every facility that we expected and more.. Room: Very good. Beds: Really good! Recommended if this is important to you :) AirCon: Medio. At night: With our view we got city-noise. Which was ok with us. The rooms facing the pool would be very silent. Pool area: We really liked it. In general grownups, I found myself asking my two children to calm down their fun & noise quite a lot the first days. The little fountain is mostly turned off. Breakfast: Wonderful!! And really nice service :) Gym: Tip top. Also perfect location for the best morning runs. Service: Mainly: Personal, warm & friendly. But: We had one minor problem in our stay, where unfortunately answer was “Sorry, can’t help you”. I had lost my diamond-earring between 2 paving stones in the pool area & needed to borrow a scissor (or something thin/long) to fish it back up. I went to the store, got my own scissor & fixed it. Would have been more impressed with a small effort to help out, or at least hear us out, as it was no one else in the reception, and there seemed to be room for the extra service... And I find it a bit strange that the hotel don’t have a scissor, if they don’t give it out for security reasons, they could have asked to help me out ;) Location: To me this is a (very good) beach & bath-location. Short walk to the zoo. But when citylife is our main agenda, we choose more central preferably within Barri Gotic or north in Ribera& El Born area for shopping. Lunch: We only did one lunch in the hotel… food was delivered at different times & plates were missing. Most “went wrong”, and some of the food was “medium-“. Cute service & coffees was delivered to our table to make up for the missing/late stuff. :) Concluding: The hotel has everything important and more. We had a wonderful stay, superb breakefast & good service at a reasonable prise! We look forward to be visiting SB Icaria again :) Wi-fi: Flawless.
I stayed at this '4 Star' Hotel for 3 nights in May 2017. There was 7 of us, so we had 4 rooms, one being a junior suite. My room was 550€ for the stay. Firstly, I'd like to say that this is NOT a 4 star hotel. It's dated, dirty, over priced and the service is poor in every area. The rooms are OKAY. Basic, a bit ugly and dated - it felt like they were rushed to be finished: bad painting jobs, wonky canvases etc etc but there is a good size TV, a wardrobe with a safe, a mini fridge etc. The beds are quite comfortable but the air conditioning is AWFUL and the cleaning service was quite poor. The bathroom in particular didn't feel clean at all and it smelt a bit funny too, one day we were left without towels and toilet paper. My parents had the junior suite room, which was NOT a suite. Any suite room usually provides 2 rooms or areas... a bedroom and an area with a sofa and a TV... the only difference in the 'suites' is that they are a bit bigger. They also had terrible issues with the heat in their room and described it as dirty and uncomfortable. Over 700€ for 3 nights. The reception and restaurant inside is okay. Quite dated and a bit cheap / worn, but the pool area is nice and there's a large and very pleasant seating area for food and drinks outside. One night we had some tapas from the restaurant which wasn't great, pretty sure it was all bought frozen stuff but the cocktails were pretty yummy, 10€ each. We also had breakfast every day at 15€ per person per day, it was quite nice but not really what you would expect for 15€. Good bread, some mini pastries, meats, eggs, bacon, yogurts etc... but bad coffee from a hospital waiting room kind of machine. There's also a small gym which is quite good if you fancy everyone who's sunbathing watching you do your run, but the 'wellness centre' (not really sure if you could describe it as that) is rubbish and tiny -the sauna wasn't even on and the hamam smelt of mound, disgusting. Apart from my opinion of the hotel, the main issue we had was the service. My room in particular was boiling, the air con is absolutely rubbish with a lowest temperature of 21.5 degrees.. both my boyfriend and my dad barely slept for the 3 nights we stayed, and we asked for assistance at least 10 times, to fix the air con, to give us a fan.. nothing until one room got given a fan on the last night. We also had a large leak in our shower which didn't get fixed... it was pretty dangerous as water went all over the bathroom floor every time we showered, so slippery. We asked it to be fixed several times... nothing again! On the last day there was an issue with the water, one room didn't have water and another the water was coming out green.... At check out my dad asked to talk to the manager and he was so rude and unhelpful. Didn't like the comments, basically didn't want to hear the truth. Bit of a tw*t if I'm being totally honest. My dad said come to my room and I'll show you the issues and he said he was too busy. Hotel management at its finest there! I would never stay here again nor recommend anyone to. Waste of money and terrible terrible service.
very nice quieter place to stay ,close to the waterfront and to bus touristic route the breakfast was well worth the price for the convenience of it i did not try the pool whirlepool or fitness areas but they all looked good the jr suite gave that extra room that is lacking in some cases
Stayed with friends for a 3 night stay. Good location, plus that was so close to the beach. All staff friendly, courteous and helpful. Room was nice and clean. Pool snacks and service very good. Best was the breakfast, so much selection. Overall good standard, good food and comfy beds . Recommend the club sandwich !
We found the SB Icaria to be an ideal hotel for a 5 night stay in Barcelona. Whilst not in the main hub of the city the location is in the quieter Poblenou area and only 5 minutes walk to the beach. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel which was ideal for getting to various places quickly when we didn't feel like walking and using the T10 ticket means this works out very economical. The hotel is clean, modern and our 3 bed room was spacious with sufficient facilities. Good bar serving reasonably priced drinks and coffees and a nice outdoor area and swimming pool.
The staff make this hotel great. The rooms are a little dated and in need of a few touch-ups here and there, but who cares when you have the very best service imaginable!! Would stay again in a heartbeat!
We have just come back from a 4 night stay at the hotel, before we stayed I emailed them asking what time we could check in. They were very quick in replying and said it is usually 3pm, but there were facilities to hold our cases, but our room would be available free of charge. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly, efficient, helpful staff, we were on the 5th floor. What was good you gave to use your key card to use the lift, the room was large, spacious, it had 3 beds, tv, coffee facilities, safe , mini fridge (did not use it) bathroom was large, with toiletries, hairdryer, and various items like spare toothbrush, comb, shoe shine kit etc. They also said that if we had forgotten any thing like toiletries, they would provide them. We were given a ticket for free complementary glass Carva each from the bar. Breakfast was available at €15 each but we ate out for breakfast, there was room service, which some if it seemed reasonable, a sandwich with fries €8 . When ever we needed details or a query the reception staff were extremely helpful, and answered our questions, they even printed off some tickets we purchased while there. There is a pool which we did not use and a gym, there seemed to be various guests, tourists and business customers. It was clean, the beds comfortable, towels and linen changed, while we were there. We would definitely stay again, the only thing us that the coffee was not the best, but really nothing to moan about, when I asked fir milk fir my room they provided it from the bar. Checking out us 12pm, and they held our cases for us.
Stayed here at the end of April and the pictures are really deceiving. Firstly, this is not a 4 star hotel in any shape or form but charges 4 star prices per night. It's the same standard as a travel lodge or a two star hotel. The room was small, poor quality bedsheets with holes, very rough around the edges, and the bathroom was not fully clean or at least it's hard to tell through all the dark green tiles and there is no shampoo etc just a container that pumps out foam. For us the hotel was too far away from the nicer parts of Barcelona. The hotel is close to the beach and marina pub scene so when we stayed here it was catering for a lot of hen parties etc so it may suit groups for that. However if you are looking for something more would recommend staying somewhere else.
