The hotel is very dated and the website pictures are very misleading as the rooms were not as they were pictured. Poor customer service. Good location, very close to the beach. A few supermarketseconds near by vut all restaurants and bars are 20minutes away.
We chose this hotel as it offered a family room and has a pool, neither disappointed. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and metro, the tour bus stops one road down. The family room has two proper single beds, great for our boys of 9 and 10. The bathroom has a bath and walk in shower, the bed was a super king. The breakfast was decent with a great range of cereal, ham and cheese, cooked food and drinks. We did not eat in the restaurant but did order the club sandwich one evening which the boys enjoyed! The pool area is a sun trap and was great to come back to after walking to the ramblas and after the camp nou experience!!! All the staff were polite and the hotel is clean. They showed the Barcelona match on a massive TV in the restaurant area. Costs around 7e to get a taxi to the bottom of the ramblas but it's also a great walk along the beach. Would definitely return to this hotel if we returned to Barcelona.
Stayed for 4 nights in a family room with 2 boys aged 9 and 13. Spacious and clean and ideal for what we needed. Good pool and bar for lunch and drinks. Breakfast buffet was fine with plenty of choice for all.About 10 mins to the centre in a taxi or 15 mins walk to the beach and marina. This hotel is further away from the main hustle and bustle however ideal if you are with children and don't mind a walk. Only negative was the bar staff not overly friendly and would help if they smiled!
They first gave me a room with terrible tobacco smell but had no problem to change it. The room itself is nice. However, the room had bad noise isolation both inside and outside: e.g. you can hear what your neighbor talk in their bathroom and you can clearly hear the busses on Av Icaria also on Carrer d'Avila side. Bring your own shampoo, the hotel shampoo from dispenser is worse than I've seen in ages. The breakfast is reasonably good. Port Olimpic is very close: it is very touristic with lots of restaurants and a nice marina. For dinner I recommend Raco de la Vila, less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. It's a bit pricey for Spain but worth the money
Two blocks from the beach in the modern El Poblenou district. Free parking in the basement for hotel guests. Clean accommodation, typical business hotel atmosphere with buffet or a la carte breakfast available, fitness facility and spa. Free wi-fi throughout the property (no cumbersome password needed). Service is friendly, rooms and beds are comfortable and overall a good value. The hand held shower overhead mount might be a bit high for persons less than 1.6m tall. Also be careful with an annoying floor mounted door stop, in some bathrooms, can be painful to step on with bare feet. Also be careful with anyone using the WC as the door swings inward in front of it. The lavatory and shower soap is provided in wall mounted dispensers. The rooms are provided with minimally stocked refrigerators (soft drinks and beer). The electrical outlets are continental European standard so bring converter kits for any appliances you may have with you.
Booked 2 x family rooms for 8 people (4 adults + 4 teenagers). Really good value for money in an area just a few minutes walk from the beach & bars/restaurants of Olympic Port; but also only 30 minute stroll into La Rambla & central area of Barcelona. Frequent taxis from just outside hotel. Convenient for airport transfer at only 25 minutes. Adequate pool & sun terrace area; bar open until late - however if you're like us you won't spend too much time at the hotel as too much to explore in this great city. Didn't bother with breakfast at €17 each as fantastic bakery/coffee shop (Elias Boulonger) within 5 minutes walk from hotel. Would recommend for families & as a decent value base just out of the centre but with great transport connections
I travelled with my family to Barcelona for a 3 night city break in April 17. I was seeking a hotel that could accommodate my wife and two children in a single room ideally. I had stayed a the SB Plaza on the other side of the city a couple of years ago and it was clean and functional, and when I saw that the Hotel SB Icaria had a family room and was in easy reach of the beach and Port Olimpic, I thought I'd give it a go. The hotel is accessible by the 59 bus which runs from Poblenou to Cristina Martin which is close to FC Barcelona Camp Nou. This bus is great during the day as it stops right outside the hotel and is a great way to get into the city with stops in La Rambla and Place de Catalunya. It doesn't run too late into the evening, so you need to use a taxi or Metro. The hotel has 3 Metro stations within half a mile walk on L4, which links you to the rest of the Metro system so it's easy to get around. We found the best solution was to purchase the T10 travel card from the Tabac just down the road and that gives you ten journeys on the travel system. It can be used for multiple people, so for us two T10s gave us 5 trips. Each card is €9.95 and for us it worked out cheaper than the Barcelona Cards. Onto the hotel. It's situated just five minutes from the beach and from there you have access to numerous restaurants and bars and a nice clean beach. At reception we were welcomed by very friendly staff and they we also great in advising us on the best methods to get around and what transport to use. I had pre-paid so check in was easy and we were quickly on our way to our room on the first floor. The was located at the front of the building over the main entrance and offered a really decent size, with the room partitioned in to two sections. The main part had a nice large queen bed, TV and storage area for clothes and a safe. The second had two single beds and a refrigerator with a small stock of drinks, which are of course chargeable and tea/coffee making facilities which are free. As we were on a room only basis, we didn't use the hotel restaurant or bar, but to keep us going we bought drinks, snacks and croissants for breakfast from the local supermarket and stored them in the fridge. Otherwise we ate out for lunch and dinner. The bathroom was again very large and clean, with a bath, shower, twin sinks, bidet and toilet. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel and the facilities. It was ideal for a short stay and accommodated my family perfectly. The location was good with excellent transport links to local areas and through the city. The only thing I found annoying was the noise, mainly from neighbours, although I was aware of traffic at times. I can't blame the hotel for guests, but as people came and went from the lifts nearby they disturbed sleep late at night or early morning and unfortunately we had some very noisy neighbours who clearly had no regard for anyone around them.
Great hotel only 5 minutes from the beach and lovely restaurants. About 20 minute walk from gothic area. Didn't eat at hotel so cannot comment on the food. Lovely terrace area with pool. Would definitely stay again
This hotel was lovely and spacious and clean. The rooms were a decent size (3 people sharing one room) with good amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English (useful as I don't speak Spanish!). The bar area was comfortable and we had afew drinks here in the evening. We had some tapas style items from the menu but wouldn't say it was all that good - very basic but edible if there was nowhere else to go. It was too cold to use the swimming pool although the sun terrace was just perfect. Lots of tables and chairs and beautifully decorated with table lamps/ambient lighting. It was nice to sit out here in the evening. The hotel is situated just afew minutes walk from the beach/port area where there are lots of cafes, restaurants and bars. It is far enough away from the beach for it to be quiet but close enough to enjoy the nightlife. Perfect!
Lovely hotel, nice location (5 minute walk to beach) staff were fantastic especially Maria, Marti and Jorge! Pool was very cold! But in march probably to be expected! Jacuzzi was good! Food was great had dinner 3 nights! Will stay again!
