A non smoking hotel with an ash tray in every room! What do they expect is going to happen? And the room smelled as expected. Come on - get this sorted out. This is the 21st century - I don't need to suffer from someone's filthy habits and the hotel should take the responsibility to prevent this.
We’ve stayed at AC San Cugat a few times. Each time the experience is agreeable and, the staff are familiar faces, which makes each visit more homely. The rooms are clean and well appointed but basic. The pool is large enough and also well kept. Breakfast is good, with a nice assortment and always fresh offerings. On this trip sadly a guest had smoked previously in the room given at check-in but the reception quickly changed me to another and seemed quite unhappy about the previous inconsiderate guest. All-in-all a welcoming hotel with some beautifully well kept common areas and well worth the price.
AC Hotel Sant Cugat is exactly what you expect of a Marriott Classic hotel in the business area of Barcelona. It is off the beaten path but yet close by Metro. The Metro saved us money by not taking the taxi services which charge toll taxes through two zones on top of the fees. Buyer beware. The hotel is small, clean and service was good. Breakfast was great and dinner menu okay. We ate out most of the time. The reason I gave the hotel good on service maybe because no one ever smiled freely or was overall pleasant. They all seem to be task driven and not enjoying their positions. I believe some of the front desk folks were new. One stands out and that is Miranda. She seemed stressed out by her trainer/co-worker who was often very rude and short. I believe she is the lead on front desk in the day. Miranda reluctantly went out of her way to assist me and my friend with purchasing tickets on Avé High Speed Train to Madrid. Reluctantly because the trainer said she could not help us and when we came down again the Manager instructed Miranda to help us. She was concern about taking time away to assist us when her colleague needed her to assist her with front desk duties. Really??? She said she previously worked for tourism and it showed. She knew who to contact and what questions to ask and completed our reservations. Her trainer can learn customer service skills from Miranda. Miranda always had a smile but the negativity from her trainer can rub off and then the bad habits are taught. We would call down to the desk late night for service and the phone was put on eternal hold. I actually watched it happen when the “negative trainer” did it to another customer in front of me in the morning. She then picked up and hung up on the unknowing guest. This happened to us twice. We had to get up and go down to the desk to get housekeeping services. Housekeeping staff was full of smiles and greetings. This hotel hosted a least two big business meetings while we were there and that was the focus of the small staff. The AC Hotel near the Train Station is a better pick just based on location. Lesson learned: Google the location on maps or Google Earth prior to booking.
Stayed for 4 nights in March and with disappointing results. This hotel (and I was told by the hotel manager, it applies to the AC chain as well) does not recognize the elite members (Platinum in my case), and it does not provide free breakfast either. The hotel does not provide paper tissue nor shower caps. If you need tissue then you have no choice but to use toilet paper (not very pleasant). I arrived early, 10:30AM from a long overnight trip. The hotel was literally empty (less than 10% of the rooms occupied Saturday night to Sunday) and yet I was told the room was not ready and I had to wait till normal check in time. The experience was particularly disappointing to me because I had high regard for the AC chain.
Stayed here for 6n/7D for a business trip to HP. Wonderfull location and they have a complimentary shuttle that goes to HP in the morning and also brings you back in the evening. The breakfast spread is good. The lunch and dinner options are limited. Very close to the Sant Joan train station so getting to Sant Cugat or even Barcelona is a breeze.
Stayed 3 nights for business (conference) in the center of Barcelona. Hotel is clean, modern design, rooms are comfortable and clean. Light-rail is 5 min walk and takes ~50 mins to Pl. Catalunya. To/from airport in taxi is only ~25 mins, depending on traffic. Food is only breakfast and dinner, otherwise cold sandwiches/salad from the front desk. Gym is small and there's an outdoor pool. It's a standard AC hotel experience and fine for a couple nights if you are fine with the location.
Overall a pleasant stay at this hotel. The facilities are good with spacious rooms and clean bathroom and beds. The hotel is quite remote and its roughly 35 euros to Barcelona, there is a taxi rank outside so no issues getting a cab. There are some nice local sandwich bars such as Pans and Co & Nordic. I am a super fussy eater and could not find a pic of the menu so see attached photo for fussy people! :) The breakfast offers a good selection and is nice, evening food is ok but quite expensive. Overall good location for business.
The hotel is on an industrial park. You are only likely to go there for work. There is nothing nearby you can walk to other than business units. It’s a nice clean professional area. There is a train within walking distance that will take you to Barcelona. The inside of the hotel is good. There is a good a bar area. We ate at the restaurant, choice is limited, but the food was nice. The rooms are ok. They need some work as they are showing wear and tear. Overall a good business hotel.
I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2018 during a business trip. My office was a walkable distance from the hotel and that's the reason we chose this. Their breakfast and bar menu is very good but the food options for dinner are limited. Rooms were spacious, staff very courteous and helpful. I would surely recommend this to fellow travelers having business in San Cugat
This wasnt the first time that we spent a night here. Their rooms are extra clean, the beds comfortable and if you dont need to go to Barcelona than the location is also perfect. First time we had room service, second time we went to their restaurant and not once they failed. Food and service was excelent.
