Booked through Hotels.com, pictures looked like it was a really good deal for the price! Parking is messed up, old soap in the shower, hair on the wall, 80's furniture and wiring on the floor with the face plate lifted up. Luckily there are others to choose from in Bangor. *front desk staff were very pleasant
Bar was excellent, staff very friendly, breakfast was poor...needs to be expanded and improved, no napkins and no space to prepare food, no trays to take food to room considering there was no breakfast room
Clean enough, comfortable enough, convenient enough. The only thing that was memorable about this hotel was the woman at the front desk--friendly and helpful--and the restaurant that was attached but not a part of this hotel. The woman at the desk recommended the restaurant, which had a steady flow of customers, even as we checked in and found our room. The parking was complicated by the busy, busy bar/restaurant--which was obviously a very popular local eatery and brew bar.
I have belonged to the welcome home club for a number of years about 20. Sunday when I checked in I was told that I could not use my club benefits because of the concert held the night before. I understand the need for the event rates on the days that there is something going on. There was nothing going on in Bangor that filled the Inn on Sunday night. Why was I not entitled to the welcome home benefits. . Frank Theriault
I rarely write bad reviews, but this place is terrible. Firstly, we go to check in and they say we're not in the system. No problem, I show him my reservation that I made on their website. He says he still can't find it, and indifferently and with no apology says "Sometimes we drop reservations". Anyway (unfortunately for us as it turned out) they had a room available anyway so he rebooked us. So, we go to our room, and first thing we notice the smell. It smelled of musty smoke and stale funk. Everything in the room screamed that it needed to be renovated. Very old and very dark. Of course the pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The bed was so so. I thought that was bad enough. I get back home and find that instead of being charged $144 total as I signed for, my credit card said $158. We made no calls and watched no TV or anything else. Just slept there. Obviously, we will never stay at this place again and you shouldn't either.
This is one of Bangor's oldest inns. I slept like a rock. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The fireplace added a nice touch. You can tell that efforts are being made to keep the property updated, like the large flat screen TV, but the furniture in the room is heavier than what you find in newer hotels. This is a good option if you're looking for value rather than a more luxurious stay. Geaghan's Restaurant now has its own brewery so if that sparks your interest, you'll love the bar. Food is delicious pub fare.
We stay here every year for the music festival in August. It's a perfect location and easy access to everything. Only complaint is , the walls are thin and you can hear all the plumbing functions in the walls - kind of annoying. Also my husband had to fix the toilet b/c the handle didn't work ( disconnected chain inside tank) .
We stayed one night while travelling. A king fireplace room. Very nice spacious room on Main Street near water front. I'm not a fan of carpet in hotels but seemed clean enough. Microwave and mini fridge in room. Keurig coffee maker. Nicest gas fireplace I've ever seen. Shower had very light spray. Not easy to wash and rinse hair. We walked in to any icy room as air conditioner was set at 60 degrees but controls worked well and we were able to set to our temperature preferences and fireplace warmed the room quickly. Restaurant attached. We didn't eat there as no one even looked our way as we stood at the counter for a while. The Casino is an easy walk so we ate there instead. Corner store with beer/wine across the street. Price was good and We would stay there again.
After sleeping on my Father in law's pull out couch for four nights this king sized bed was so comfy and wonderful! The room we had was a king size with a fireplace. Geaghan's (spelling?) restaurant there was very very good. The hotel is right next to the Hollywood Slots Casino. The only downfall was with the new tv they had we couldn't figure out how to use the remote except to turn off and on and channel up and down!
Our stay at the Fireside Inn was brief but decent. The room was small but efficient after a day of sight seeing and a night at the casino. Our room had double beds, a microwave, a mini fridge, and a keurig. The layout of the bathroom did not exactly work for our small group. The sink and mirror were just outside the room with the toilet and tub/shower combo. However, I have stayed in a few other hotels that share the same lay out. The room was clean and fully stocked with all the expected items. The continental breakfast was small and not quite what I am used to but was good enough for a quick bite. Overall, not a bad place to crash for a night or two.
