We stayed in a 1 bedroom private pool Villa. The service was excellent with breakfast and afternoon tea served in the room. Breakfast was a-la-carte with an extensive range of western and Asian options. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside was a bit of noise coming from the reggae bar next door and also had quite a lot of insects in the room at night, however insect spray and a mosquito coil was provided. Location is excellent with plenty of dining options nearby and very close to the beach. I would definitely stay here again and wish we stayed longer in Sanur instead of Seminyak.
Terrific spot with value for money prices, considering breakfast choice with setting by pool. Large cool & comfortable rooms with balcony (suites upstairs on 1st level, all low-rise), lovely beds & nice dark rooms! Only slight drawback was music Fri/Sat nights opposite BUT was fun reggae which finished up promptly at 11pm...and you could always enjoy a cocktail downstairs in the balmy outdoor Caramel bar, to ho with the music! Helpful, friendly staff, beautiful pool & gardens, nothing was too much trouble. Hired bicycles across the road for $4 p/day & cycled to beach in 5mins. Great spot without beachfront prices! Thank you Wati & the lovely team at Kamuela 😊
Having booked this place 4 months before our arrival date, we were not at all impressed on our arrival to be told our suite was double booked and we could not have our room until the following morning. They said we could have had a villa but the electrics were broken. All we wanted was the suite we had booked for 7 nights and after 20 hours of travelling just to unpack and relax. The hotel moved us to a different hotel 5 minutes away for our first night and then brought us back to Kamuela the next day. Far from happy at this point!! However, as disruptive as this was, the hotel didn't charge us for the night in the other hotel and offered us a free set meal as compensation. Our suite when we moved in was fabulous. So much space, a lovely balcony with jacuzzi, great bathroom and huge comfortable bed. It was very clean and what a great touch with the evening turn down service each evening. Breakfast was very good with a great choice of freshly cooked food, juices and smoothies. Staff were really helpful and friendly. The pool area was really nice with plenty of sunbeds, great place to relax. We had a massage in the spa which was also really good. The hotel does not have direct access to the beach but a short walk to the end of the street, down the side road and then along the path which runs along between the beach and the hotels takes you to a small section of beach which Kamuela have free use of. The beach is not brilliant in Sanur and fairly crowded as it is sectioned into areas for various vendors. We tended to stick around the pool due to this. Great little bar at the front of the hotel with live music on a couple of nights and served great cocktails. The major downside to this hotel is the noise. There is a reggae bar directly opposite and ridiculously loud noise every night, usually until around 11 but sometimes until gone midnight really spoiled things for us, especially when we had to be up at 6am for diving trips. Overall we were pleased with our stay here but sadly due to the lack of sleep from the music, we wouldn't stay here again. This is a real shame because the hotel is great value and in a good location and it is such a shame that this bar could ruin things for them.
Hubby and I travelled to Sanur recently, our first trip to Bali. We had booked a suite in the Kamuela and on arriving ( tired and very late at night) were impressed by the large room, veranda with jacuzzi and lovely bathroom. The staff were lovely and we were enjoying our holiday, true there is a rather noisy reggae bar directly opposite, but the music stops at 11 and it's all shut up by midnight so didnt bother us at all. The pool and bar were lovely and when I had a peek at the villas behind, we asked if there were any vacant. The manager got back to us the following day and we agreed a price. We were amazed to be given villa 5 the largest villa in the hotel. It has 3 bedrooms, two were locked up. A huge outdoor under veranda sitting / dining area, well equipped kitchen with large fridge TV etc. bathroom with outdoor shower. Best of all a huge private pool! We were in heaven for the next 6 days! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff were lovely, the villa was fantastic, the food served in the hotel was excellent. We had several massages in the spa and Sari and her team were wonderful. We will be back as soon as we are able! Viv & Russ Hall
My husband and I recently stayed at Kamuela on the first leg of our honeymoon and we were so pleased we chose to stay here. We chose to stay in the villa and as soon as we walked in we were wowed by the space we had. We stayed in villa 4 and had a private pool, outdoor living space, very good sized bedroom and an outdoor shower! The staff had even arranged rose petals on the bed and in the bath and also gave us a complimentary honeymoon cake for when we arrived. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay, always saying hello and good morning etc which is so simple yet adds to the customer service. They had also arranged our airport pick up at a reasonable price which was much appreciated after a long 19 hour flight! We had breakfast delivered to our villa every morning which was always on time for what we had specified and tasted great - plenty of choice. We ate once for lunch at the Caramel restaurant and this was also great although a little more pricey compared to restaurants nearby. The room was cleaned every day and staff even gave us extra mosquito spray and repellent which was very helpful of them. Overall we had a great stay and I would highly recommend this place to anyone else!
I have stayed at this Hotel many times before and was looking foward to my 6 night stay once again. The staff are all so welcoming and was greeted by the longterm gardner who kindly carried our bags to reception for us. It was lovely to see Wati & Weti and all the familar faces that make the Kamuela a lovely place. But unfortunately... Through no faulty of the hotel , We didnt stay more than one night in out newly renovated suite room due to the fact a new Regge Bar has opened up right across the road! This monotonous music played until 11pm during this time you cant hear your TV or even think! I spoke to reception the first and only night and they agreed it was very loud and i would have to talk to the day staff in the morning. Unfortunately there wasnt any Villas available at the back of property free to be upgraded to. So we were not going to stay there and endure that for another 5 nights so we decided to leave, the staff were very understanding. I really do love this hotel but lets keep Sanur old school and keep the loud bars for Kuta.
The Spa at this place is to die for. it was well over the 5 star experience. best massage i had in Sanur, and one of the best in my lifetime. would go back just to go here. I didn't stay here (but definitely would next time - we were in the big resort next door but this place looked more boutique)
To start with we were given a "private" villa (number 7) which was overlooked by a number of balconies. We were moved after a lot of arguing to another villa. We also booked on the agreement of a late checkout which were informed after they took all our payment that this was not on offer. The villa was OK - tired and run down - however behind us was a car park with announcement going from early morning to late at night. It was the staff car park to the big, really nice hotel next door (we had to book there for the last night and wished we had our whole time there) and microphones were in full use all day and motorbikes revving completed the sound affects. At night the sound of competing bands up and down the street which bellowed through the complex led to the need to stay up until the sounds were over. Not the peaceful Bali I remember. The staff did their best however there was always something missing from breakfast, or cleaning. Twice in the holiday I had to go to neighbours to tell them to be quiet with music and parties - not the hotel's fault however they did nothing to control it. Don't go on weekends because screaming children around the main pool could be heard in the private villa from around 6.00am This was our 20+ time to Bali and yes, we may go there for some peace and quiet. If you are looking for a quiet time, go elsewhere as this was the noisiest place we have ever stayed at in Bali and that includes Kuta.
Fine huge rooms with lots of space but what is that bloody smell in the rooms, the bed sheets and the pillows. The first night I got so drunk so managed to conk out but the second night was not a comfy sleep. Just wanted morning to come so I can get out of the smelly bed and the room. The staff are kind but not as attentive and the breakfast is okay. I wouldn't stay here again for sure. The location is good, near good restaurants and bars. The beach is 5-7 mins walk otherwise the hotel provides a shuttle to the beach. I do wish it was a better hotel then we could have enjoyed Sanur slightly more although we really liked Sanur.
We arrived here after 3 nights in Ubud and wished we cut short our stay there to spend more nights here. It's set on a busy road which makes it interesting when sitting in the bar, sipping cocktails during happy hour. Our suite was huge, walk in wardrobe area, large bathroom with huge bath and separate walk in shower, even his and hers sinks! Sitting area with large sofa, but the best bit ... a jacuzzi bath on the balcony! It comprises 7 villas and 12 suites, all villas have their own pool, so the main pool is largely quiet during the day. Lovely pool area, with bar and a relaxing place to have breakfast each morning. Breakfast was plated and offered a good choice with fresh juice and great coffee. The staff were really friendly, always smiling and very helpful. My only comment and the reason it's not a 5 star review is that the entrance area which doubles up as a dining area is a little tired and could do with a refurb, it's a shame the retro sitting area on the first floor isn't used much, we loved the seating here. Would definitely consider a return visit.
