We travelled with our 14 month old son, and two teenaged children. The hotel was family friendly and we found the restaurant served excellent and affordable food. The hotel is very very central - so you will step out on to a crazy busy street. However inside the hotel is fairly quiet except for the other guests - which weren't too bad during our stay. The staff here are amazing and made our stay wonderful! Special shout out to Ketut and to Ariani!! They were both fantastic with us! The pools were lovely and clean. We found the front pool much quieter than the main pool - especially in the afternoon however overall did not find it too noisy. The rooms were clean and tidy. The bathrooms are small - but functional. If you are looking for value for money and clean accomodation this is an excellent choice. We love a five star resort - so we were a bit concerned about what we would find. However it was a really pleasant stay and we would definitely return.

I have been down Poppies II so many times but never really noticed this hotel, just opposite Piggies Bar. So, yes - centrally located, but so peaceful inside. Staff are very friendly and the recently refurbished hotel is very well presented. The rooms are large with good bathrooms, a/c, fridge and balcony. There are 2 pools with swim up bars- one near the front which has a lot of shade and the larger free-form rear pool. This area also has 3 Kabana beds. On the The hotel is definitely an Aussie hangout, but we met some nice people and it is kid friendly. The poolside lunches are delicious and good value. At our request, the hotel arranged airport transfers for IDR150k with someone waiting as you walk through with your name on a sign. Well worth it after the flight and it avoids the drivers and porters. For the price we paid, we were extremely happy with this hotel and would definitely recommend it as a good central point with good surroundings and great staff. Matur Suksma!

Room was huge and well maintained. Staff were polite helpful and efficient. Great location and the 2 pool areas were fantastic. Would recommend the Grand Barong and i will be going back there again. Only thing i could say was the pool bar music could get a bit loud sometimes.

Staying here right now and its very good. The location is perfect and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. There was a little bit of a leak in the bathroom but nothing major. Beds are comfy and the air con helps a lot. The rooms by the entance can get a little noisy at night from the music but i found it pretty easy to block out. The restaurant food is nice and they have a wide variety of things to eat and drink. Room service is super quick too. Would reccomend.

If you're looking for a hotel that is extremely luxurious and fancy, then the Grand Barong ISN'T for you. HOWEVER, this is a perfect example of a hotel that provides everything you need at an affordable price. My partner and I were pleasantly surprised with everything. I'll list some things below that made our 10 nights experience smooth and enjoyable: • Location - extremely central • Pools - clean & beautiful • Staff - so friendly & attentive • Rooms - clean & functional • Suitable for all ages/couples/family The only slightly negative thing I can think of is noise, especially at night time. Each night we could hear music, although it was never loud enough to stop us getting to sleep and never actually woke us up during the night. This comes with being in a central location. All in all though, for anyone looking for a hotel in the lower cost bracket, I urge you to stay at the Grand Barong. I can assure you it will exceed your expectations considering the cost.

Stayed here for 14 nights in July for my bday. Could not fault hotel , perfect location, clean, nice pool, cheap room service and pool snacks( 3.50$ mini burgers rule so do the even brought me a cake for my bday only drama i had was flight centre mistake not booking 2 person room so i ended up paying 250,000 Rupiah a night more so my son had his own bed. 10$ a night dvd player rental in lobby, friendly staff. hassle as soon as u walk out the door- but thats bali isnt it! Awesome hotel Barong id definately stay here again

We just had a magic 7 day holiday in Bali and can't really fault Grand Barong! From the moment we arrived the staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you. We were shown to the room promptly and left to settle in. Room was nice large bed with good pillows. Bathroom was a bit squashed but we didn't need much more room. Free wifi was great. They have two pools in the resort both with swim up bars. The larger of the pools was very loud with music going all day and busy but the other pool was a hidden gem! It was quiet and peaceful and hardly anybody seemed to use it so most times we were in there we had the whole thing to ourselves which was awesome! Lots of choices for breakfast, which was included, although I didn't love the breakfast. Location is great if you're happy to deal with the hustle and bustle of poppies ll. Money exchange with good rates in the lobby as well as a tour desk. Check out is late at 12 midday which was great and after checkout if your flying out later in the day as we were they held your bags securely and even allowed us to still use the pool and pool towels for the remainder of the day. Thanks guys we had a great time!

The Grand Barong on this occasion was chosen as we had a very large group some family needing two rooms so with different budgets the price was great for everyone. The rooms are clean and spacious although the bathroom are a little tight and only the top of vanity to keep toiletries. Some of our group book a deal with two deluxe rooms, these rooms where not together, please be aware if this would be an issue, children in our group were teenagers so was ok if you had smaller children this wouldn't be good. The main pool access room are great but be aware, can be noisy at times as the bar is right in front of most of the rooms. Pool Bar opens at 10am and close at 10pm when the pool closes, so if you are someone that goes to bed early these rooms may not be for you. Our room was at the far end of the pool so it was a good location. Pool always looked clean and well kept. The staff were helpful when needed, had a few issues with room keys not working but they were always polite and tried to help, just frustrating at times having to walk to reception on many occasions. On checkout our group was granted late checkout at no extra cost, so that was a plus. Breakfast was as expected, normal hotel buffet, you can order pancake and eggs cooked fresh. Our package included a BBQ night at the resorts restaurant that was good and there was entertainment fire show on that night as well and music to dance after if you wished. If not in your package I think its a good choice if you want a night in. The resort is in a very busy laneway, Poppies ll. It is very hectic at times. If you need transport is easier to walk to the end of the street as the lane is too busy. Turn left as you exit resort takes you to the beach, right and walk to Legian Street brings you out near the Memorial roughly . The resort is within walking distance to many restaurants, beach, spas. The nightclubs are just around the corner on Legian street. Shopping, no worries market stalls everywhere in either direction as you leave the resort great for last minute shopping too. The prices are good but you need to barter. The resorts Spa was under renovation so can't comment, but the spa directly across from resort is excellent, yes it cost a little more then what is out and about but the spa itself is more like a spa experience quite and relaxing. Package on the last day before heading to airport body scrub, 1 h massage, facial, pedicure and hair washed and blow dried $75, well worth it. All in all we had a good time at the Grand Barong but personally I do prefer other areas of Bali then hectic Kuta, but for our group on this occasion The Barong was a good choice. Restaurants in the lane worth a visit Kori, Alley cats and Tubes and within walking distance Brazilian BBQ and Secret Garden. There is also the Beachwalk restaurant and shops at the beach end of the lane has a few restaurants as well.

Awesome hotel I have stayed here 3 times, 2 of those times in the lagoon pool access rooms. The lagoon pool access rooms are very good. Its a bit of a party hotel, but that would be dependant on the guests staying at the time. Even with having a lagoon pool access room the music from the pool bar was not a problem. Breakfast was very good. Location is very good, easy to get to the beach or the party strip. Pool/pool bar is a good place to mingle with other guests. Very good bar out the front with pool table. Dedicated room upstairs with multiple TVs for sports. I will be back

Loved the pool access room and the hotel but walking out to Poppies did get a bit much in the end. It provides an oasis away from the street and the hotel has a great, friendly atmosphere. The buffet was ok, I found it didn't always look fresh but was adequate. It's worth paying the extra $2 or so for a real coffee. Room service is excellent and very well priced! We had an issue on departure when we organised our boat to Lombok and the wrong person got in the bus. We were left stranded there and missed the morning boat. The staff did ring several times and tried to help us out as much as possible. Hopefully they will double check from now on the ensure they have the right person. If you have no problem with Poppies I recommend this place and go for a pool access room.
