Wife booked this based on the photos and said it looked really nice. That as the start of the disappointment. Check in was quick, but the reception seems a little dark, staff were friendly enough, though the doorman? did watch us unload our luggage in the rain near the foyer. Only after I parked did he come out with am umbrella to keep me dry. Too late I was soaked by then anyway. Into the room,it was on a high floor with a view of the river, that is one of the few pluses The room is very dated and in need of a refurbishment. The furniture seems even older than the sites around Ayutttaya. The bathroom needs to be ripped out and renewed, to far gone to try and just regroup the tiles. Kettle in the room, but don't expect tea and coffee, no issue just nip next door to 7 /11 or Tesco. Back to the room and with the kettle boiled, now find there are no cups. Back downstairs to reception, too be fair they did give me them, but I had to ask. Came back after an evening meal to find the toilet would not flush properly. Surely if the room had been cleaned properly they would have known the toilet did not flush. Due to an early wedding we had breakfast quite early, but even then the eggs & sausage were cold. Thai food was not much better. In fact the second day my wife & daughter did not even bother coming down for it. On the way out reported the broken toilet. Into the car park and had to move apt 10 cars just to get mine out, so it is a popular hotel. Came back late evening to find not only the car park completely full, but no room on the road either.. The fact that the manager only bothered to respond to a couple of reports sums up this place. Everybody seems to have given up on it. The bed is not very comfortable, bedding stained, just the same as the towels. On a more serious note, the light above the bed consisted of a lamp that was just taped to the mains supply. A child that was not supervised could easily touch it and receive a shock It offers value for money, only for the reason that it is very cheap.
Came to the region for the giant river prawns which were delicious. Old temple worth a visit especially at night. Hotel a bit run down but for the price not too bad. We paid £23 a night. Bed comfortable. Room clean. Breakfast so so which was included.
I booked this hotel for one night as a last minute trip to visit the ruins/ temples in the area. And only booked as it was cheap and I wasn’t expecting anything special. I found my stay to be pretty bizarre due to the fact I had a entire floor, maybe 15/20 rooms to myself. All other rooms doors where left open and unoccupied... until evening and someone comes at shuts them all? Was a bit eerie. The view from my small balcony was just of another building side wall. The entire hotel is very outdated and a bit shabby but the room was clean as it could be with the beaten up furniture. Staff seems ok, but didn’t have much interaction with them as was out exploring. WiFi work as well as any other hotel I went to in Thailand. But all in all it suited my purposes at a good price. Would I stay here again? No. But I did not hate it either. Just it’s old.. like stepping back into the 80’s
The Ayothaya Riverside Hotel has come on rough times. It's BHT$800 rooms should tell you enough. From the lack of staff with a pulse to the nasty carpet stained, paint scraped, lightbulb missing rooms. I am sure for for the money you could find a much better place.
Booked two nights, paid in advance. Got there and you can tell by driving into the parking lot that you're in for a shock. The lobby is not lite - dark and smelly. You can see the restaurant have moved out leaving a pile of old furniture. The elevator got stuck briefly. The door handle to the room fell off and the room was not even made up. From the 6th floor you can see the patio below - torn up being demolished and the riverside dock collapsed. I left and found another place. This place should be removed from the TripAdvisor listings. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I was told - no refund also. Wasted my money too.
Ayutthaya was the pitfall of otherwise enjoyable SE Asian trip. The city reflects the accommodation on offer, very poor. Photos of the hotel would appear to be decades old, and bear no resemblance to current state. Observation of Ayutthaya generally, filthy, old and decrepit, and that's not a reference to the historical area. Booked for two nights in Ayutthaya, spent one night and departed on the earliest available train the following day for Phitsanulok. Breakfast wasn't worth the time in sitting down. The only positive for the hotel was its vicinity to the train station.
This place needs some serious attention, but so do all hotels in Ayutthaya by the looks of it...everything is old and dated. Staff are fairly helpful, but wouldn't recommend this place if you are extremely picky. Breakfast is a shocker - go elsewhere.
Horrible, don't even stay for one night!! The reception area gives you the impression that it's a nice hotel but it's the opposite. Bathrooms are the worst part and staff are totally unhelpful. Stay away!
Located approx 5 min walking distance from the train station. 7/11 and Tesco approx 2 min away. Rooms were specious, however not very clean, one could see that the room service did not do a great job. Otherwise WiFi available only in the lobby.
I really didn't feel comfortable to stay at this hotel even one night. Everything was so shabby, I wasn't pleased to find blemish from our towels... and they had a problem with the heater so we couldn't use any hot water. Still we needed to PAY to use their wifi, no apologies for the bad condition of the hotel and heater - exept one note left on the elevator wall which was translated with google I think because it wasn't even english. Avoid this hotel, it's just very uncomfortable.
