It was perfect for the 4 of us. Well appointed. The hosts were wonderful. We were going to rent 2 extra kayaks but they generously dropped off 2 extra. Very easy to work with.

We stayed here for the hot tub and lake proximity. It was very quaint and clean. The check in and out was very convenient. I was allowed to add a pet after booking which made my weekend very smooth.

This place was perfect. Such a peaceful and quiet area. The cottage was beautiful and the hosts literally thought about everything. They have everything you need and more. Would highly recommend and will definitely come back if we visit this region again.

Everything was as described. It is a long 10-mph drive on the mostly one-lane road into the property, but it's worth it! Nice and quiet, good neighbors and a beautiful view.

It was a cozy cottage with everything we needed for our stay at the house and within a few steps was the magnificent Cayuga Lake. Honoco Rd is a slow drive, but if you venture out, the state park is close by and it’s just a short drive into the charming town of Aurora.

We had such an enjoyable stay at Sunset retreat. The home had fantastic amenities and we were not in need of anything extra: the kitchen was stocked, games, and more. The views of the lake are amazing both from inside the house and the outdoor areas. Thank you for a special location to enjoy time away with friends! The sun sets magically on this side of the lake!

Had a lovely long weekend in wine country. The house is well-appointed and the owners put a LOT of thought into small details like cooking essentials, a water dispenser, and toiletries. The dock and partially-fenced deck area are solid and great spots for morning coffee and evening glasses of wine. The biggest "potential negative" for this property is partially addressed in the listing: "it's about 2 miles in on a private road". Two key details: the distance is closer to 3 miles, and the private road speed limit is 10mph. Doing the math - it's a 20-minute drive, at 10mph, just to reach the main roads in the area. If your vacation plan is to get to the house and then not leave again until the day you depart, you'll only have to make that drive twice. But if you envision visiting various spots in the area, make sure you account for this driving experience. Again, I use the phrase "potential negative" loosely here - the very fact that you're 3 miles down a private road is part of the charm of the property :-). I would certainly stay again (or at one of the owners' other properties).

Loved the Views, the Space, and the Vibes

We came from Rochester to spend a relaxing weekend with another couple from Philly, and this property was perfect for it. The home was beautiful and fully stocked with all the essentials. The open floor plan made it easy for all of us to hang out together while enjoying stunning views of the lake.Having access to the bunkhouse was a great bonus, giving everyone their own space to unwind. The outdoor area, right on the water, offered plenty of room to relax and take in the surroundings.The location is ideal, just a short hike to Great Gully (definitely wear water shoes!) and about a 45-minute drive to Ithaca. We brought most of our own food but also enjoyed stops at Aurora Brewing and Dugan’s Country Grill.I reached out to Paul a few times and he was very prompt and helpful in his responses. I would highly recommend staying here!

Charming Cabin, Rough Road

We had a great stay! The cabin was super cute, cozy, and well-stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable visit. It had a charming vibe and made for a relaxing getaway. The only downside was that the water cooler needed a good cleaning, and the road leading to the cabin was long and a bit rough. But overall, it was a lovely spot and we really enjoyed our time there!

Everything was good except the bed mattress especially the bunk house were too hard and the pillows had no firmness. Maybe adding a foam topper and upgraded pillows would make a big difference.

Perfect but keep in mind the location

Our stay at this cottage was overall excellent! The property was exactly as described—clean, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts were very kind and responsive and provided detailed instructions, which made check-in and check-out a breeze.The location offered a peaceful escape, surrounded by nature, which was just what we were looking for. However, it’s worth noting that the cottage is down a long, one-way gravel road with a 10 mph speed limit. While this adds to the sense of seclusion, it did make coming and going a bit tedious, especially for those unfamiliar with the area. One morning, we were stuck behind a massive parked truck and couldn't go around on either side. I guess the owners of the truck thought it would be ok to park it right in the middle of a narrow 1-way gravel road... One thing to consider is the cleaning fee, which was a notable portion of the overall cost of the stay. While we understand the importance of maintaining a clean and welcoming property, the instructions stated to complete several light cleaning tasks before departure, such as tidying up, handling some basic housekeeping and vacuuming as a recommendation. These requirements made the additional fee feel a bit disproportionate, as it seemed we were already contributing to the upkeep of the cottage.That said, if you’re looking for a serene getaway and don’t mind the road or the fee, this cottage is a wonderful choice!

Sunset Cottage Getaway

We loved our stay at Sunset Cottage. Beautiful views of the lake. The house was well stocked and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub looking out at the lake. Great location for wine tastings if you don't mind a bit of a drive other than the 3 fairly close by. We would definitely book again.

Fantastic and relaxing

Stayed over Christmas with our dogs and my MiL. Was a perfect holiday. Very quiet and scenic. The house and bunk house were clean and the perfect size for us. We found everything we needed to cook the holiday meals in terms of pots and pans ans serving dishes. The hot tub was a treat as well.100% going to try to come back in warmer weather

Sunset Retreat

This beautiful cottage, on Cayuga Lake, was the perfect relaxing getaway we had hoped for. All the comforts of home were provided. The scenery is beautiful. We enjoyed sitting lakeside, either on the deck or by the fire pit. The well provisioned firewood stack was much appreciated! Sunset Retreat is in our plans for a turn visit.
