3.8/5 Stars can recommend the chancellor on Hobson

I had a good experience staying at the chancellor this weekend, I had no serious issues pop up. Check-in/out was easy and quick. I pre booked parking so having a space secured was nice, the car park was better than many others I have seen at similar price ranges around Auckland city and easy elevator access (usually). I wasn’t expecting a bond of $250 but I got my refund right then and there on checkout so no harm no foul. The elevator went out during my stay but they had specialists there fixing it and had it sorted asap. My room was clean and tidy and had all the amenities you would think of wanting. Some damage to the tiled areas in the room but nothing major and it didn’t affect my experience so again no harm no foul. The bed was cozy and the view of the skyline (perfect view of the sky tower) really was awesome. I’ll also mention the room was well soundproofed with windows and balcony doors closed and the blackout curtains let me get some good sleep after a night out on the city (everything available within 15 min walk through town). To wrap up, 3.8/5 stars can recommend the chancellor queen studio room (city view) especially if you can get a deal on the price $330 for two nights stay was worthwhile for a guy wanting a weekend getaway.

Good on a budget

This is a solid stay for those on a budget. It was comfy and had good security and safety (which is a must for a solo traveler). There were some minor areas in the room that showed its age/wear but on the whole it was good for what I paid.

The bathroom could’ve used a good clean after each person the tiles had mould inbetween the gaps. The towel that I was given from room service was dirty and has crust on it. Net curtain in bedroom also had mould on it. Also the condensation that builds up in the room because of the shower is crazy and the sliding door fully condensates after just 1 person showering with the fan on. Hope things significantly improve by our November stay as have already booked this in and paid for. The car parking situation is lovely and safe but is difficult with leaving and entering with having to notify reception when leaving. Surely can make it so your hotel card can and can’t depends if you bought a car park spot or not activate the lift to the basement or enter the carpark too.
