Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland City

We stayed one night there starting our tour of New Zealand. As other reviewers have already remarked the only asset of this hotel is its very central location. Other than that, there isn't much positive to be said. It Is an old, tired place in desperate need of repair and update. Everything looks and feels and even smells old and dusty, but we were so worn out after our long flight that we fell asleep and didn't care. Breakfast was average as well. More than one night would have been a nightmare.

The location was extremely central & convenient. It was within walking distance of Sky City, Queen St, Britomart, Ferry Terminal, Viaduct & Wyndham Quarter. Access to motorways easy. Enjoyed the leisure facilities esp the lap pool

The hotel is in desperate need of an update. The rooms are tired and the whole place has that funky “old “ smell about it. While the staff are friendly enough, they don’t tend to be that helpful. The street noise is loud and continues all day and most of the night and the rooms have very little if any sound proofing.

Exactly what I needed if not more. Didn't use the gym or pool, but thought that for the price it was more than generous in terms of room and facilities. The only let down was the couch which was uncomfortable. Internet was good and they provided it for two days when I was staying for two days, rather than having to ask. Simple things.

Stayed for some R & R with friends and went to a show. Great to be away and staying in Auckland. Close to everything. Even boat trip to Waiheke Island for the day. Would recommend this Hotel to others as a great stopover place when in Auckland.

great location close to viaduct and sky city casino .good clean rooms and helpful staff. would have liked to have onsite bar and food option. no problems when asking for late check out. would use again.

Our room was not cleaned well there was mould on the windows and curtains. The windows and the surrounds had not been cleaned for some time. The windows were dusty and had mould on them. The curtains had clearly not been cleaned for some time.

Great location, very good value, rooms of a high standard for price, kitchenette excellent for a studio apartment. Staff are very friendly. Only negative - bed was very firm. Parking available for $30 per day.

Excellent central location for an apartment within the hotel. Walking distance to all cbd places and activities. Good hotel facilities. Swimming pool, sauna and gym. Breakfast room. Just around the corner is an excellent cafe which is open all day everyday

Stopped here as my normal 1st, 2nd & 3rd choice hotels were fully booked. It's OK but not as modern or spacious as others. Location is good. It'll still be on my list but definitely not top 5. Prefer a few at the bottom half of Queen Street.
