Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Cumberland/Galleria3.0 out of 5.0

This Residence Inn is set up like an apartment complex with exterior entry to your room, which I don't care for as a female traveling alone. (Strike 1) Also, it didn't look like the most upstanding individuals were staying here when I was there. Then, I went to the happy hour reception and poured myself a glass of wine straight from the bottle and looked down and 2 flies were in my wine, so I lacked all confidence in the cleanliness of their kitchen/common areas. (Strike 2) I wasn't looking forward to what surprises breakfast might have. I went back to my room and killed a moth and a couple more little flying bugs (Strike 3) and decided this would be my first and only night staying there. My recommendation for them is to take care of the flying insect issue in the common areas/kitchen. My recommendation for you is to stay somewhere else.
Whenever I visit US, my favorite hotel to stay is Residence Inn by Marriott. This hotel is in a great location, very near to Cumberland Mall, where you have everything you need. Lot of other restaurants also nearby. The hotel is clean, well maintained and very spacious. I loved it.
The staff at this hotel are truly amazing. We just stayed here twice on both ends of a 10 day vacation. The first stay was under not the best circumstances. Delta airlines canceled almost all flights out of Altanta and all hotels near the airport were booked. I knew we had booked this hotel on the tail end of our trip to see a Braves game so I checked the availability at the last minute when I couldn't find a hotel near the airport. Luckily they had a two bedroom room available and fortunately we were able to find a nice uber driver to take us. It was a beautiful room and the night guy (midnight) had to get someone to clean it on the fly but he did it with a smile. He made us feel so much better after a 20 hour travel day. The airline lost our luggage and he gave us toothbrushes and toothpaste and my husband was able to walk to a Walgreens to get underwear and wine...which we really needed at that time. The next day we had a nice breakfast and when we checked out the lady at the desk said she would make sure we had a two bedroom for our next stay ten days later. When we came back the second time for the Braves game she was there to check us in. But she had to take a phone call so another guy came over, who I think was the manager, to finish the check in. He was the nicest guy ever! I don't know what they are doing here but other hotels should take lessons. The people here are so nice. We got to the room and the had set the a/c low so it felt so good after carrying luggage. Most hotels don't do that. It was the little things about this place that make it awesome. I wish I lived closer to Atlanta so I could stay here again. If you are looking for a hotel near Suntrust park you should stay here! It is a very close 10 minute walk. Easy walk with large sidewalks and traffic guards. Also it is a safe neighborhood. They also have a "selfie" station with the background of suntrust park and a baseball bat so you can take your picture at the stadium.
This is the way a Residence Inn should be. Rooms seem to have been refurbished and seem fresh and new. Staff is extremely helpful. Breakfast well stocked and well presented. Located walking distance to the new stadium.
I try to always stay here when business trips take me in and around Smyrna. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Breakfast has pretty good selection and staff is always around to make your morning a little extra special. This morning, we were greeted with some fresh made smoothies, brought to our table by their breakfast staff. Rooms are nicely appointed and set in a very quiet place. My bed was a little softer than I would like this time but not too bad. Of note, this place has multi-level units so if you have issues with climbing stairs, try to get units towards the back of the property at the street level.
Old school Residence Inn, apartment style, with complete kitchen, stove and oven! Well-stocked with kitchen utensils for two people. Easiest Residence Inn to cook in (which I like to do). Stayed on second floor and was incredibly quiet. Friendly staff and pretty good breakfast. My stay included one weekday evening social (Wednesday) where desserts and several different craft beers were served. Alternate Wednesday night socials include food from local businesses. Convenient to the Cobb Convention center. Overall an excellent place to stay. One other comment...if you are a Marriott Rewards member, use your points to book your room. 10000 points/night is a great bargain which will probably disappear when the new baseball stadium opens.
This has to be the friendliest, happiest and most professional hotel staff in the whole Marriott chain -- starting with Front Office Supervisor Gerquika Turner, who gave us a much-appreciated Marriott Rewards upgrade. The Mixers are quite the extra here, as evidenced in the pride of the servers. It's a massive property, so for many of the units you can park right by your door. The fitness room has free weights, some of the windows in your unit will open for a nighttime breeze and every room has a wonderful view. Speaking of the lovingly-manicured grounds, be warned that (at least on our stay) the gardening crew comes on Monday, so there is the predictable noise that comes with gardeners. But just remember that by keeping your good mood about it, you're actually contributing to maintenance of these lovely grounds. What a perfect stay!
This place is a wonderful extended stay! The room is exactly as pictured. But what is not pictured is that while the full kitchen has a full sized fridge, full sized stove/oven, microwave it also has full set of dishes, utensils, coffee maker, toaster, pot holders, linen napkins, various can openers, peeler, cork screw, Pyrex bowls, measuring spoons, full set of pots, glassware. You will not need to ask the front desk for anything! Extra blanket and sheets for the sofabed, blow dryer, iron, ironing board, adjustable thermostat, ridiculously soft bed and pillows, ceiling fan over the bed, three closets, ample storage.... It feels like a furnished studio apartment! Yes the actual bathroom is a bit small, but it is clear this was done to provide ample space in the dressing area that can easily allow two people to move around. The free breakfast was impressive with fresh fruits, hot options and waffle maker. There is free wifi, parking shouldn't be an issue and although there is no elevator it is not a deal breaker or even worth taking a star off for. This place is on the expensive sidd, so if you get any kind of discount, it is definitely a great deal!
My room was very nice and ready as promised. The staff was friendly. Although small, I did use and enjoy the exercise room. The breakfast and evening drinks were also well done. Parking was convenient although I did have to walk around the building to enter my room.
My family and I were only her for one night, but had a good experience. We were traveling and didn't arrive until late, regardless the front desk staff was alert and friendly. our unit was clean and between the pullout and the bed we got a good night sleep before heading out the next morning. There was ample parking near our unit and we were just off of the highway with plenty of places for food and gas nearby. The units are three stories so if you are traveling with young ones or anyone with mobility issues I would recommend that you request a ground unit.
