Had a fabulous stay at the Hermes Hotel with my seven-year-old daughter. Staff made us feel very welcome, especially Eva and Tonia, one of whom was always there at breakfast time to help with any questions we had and help plan our day (with no sales pitch). Breakfast was copious and varied. Rooms were clean and comfortable. February is a great time to visit Athens. Pleasant weather and no crowds.
Stayed one night in the hotel - wanted to stay in the center instead of an airport hotel. - rooms: small (I booked for 1 person) - good bed, good bath room, very nice terrace - fill yourself minibar - complementary small bottle of wine and cookies as welcome at room - location: 3 streets from Syntagna square - staff: the staff of this hotel are their best asset - so extremely nice, helpful and flexible !!!! I had to leave the hotel early to catch my flight: they opened breakfast earlier to allow me - business: hotel not really suited for business people - desk at my room was too small to work on... invitation to work on the terrace :-) - breakfast: good breakfast - average choice Price / Quality: VERY good Location: VERY good Will come back !!
I am so glad I found this gem in the Plaka district. It is very reasonably priced and the location is amazing. If you’re getting the train or the bus from the airport you’ll get off at Syntagma Square and it is a short walk from there. The check in was efficient and informative. The room was clean and comfortable. Shower gel, shampoo and a hair dryer are all provided. There is coffee and tea available in the reception throughout the day which is a nice touch when you’ve been out all day. There is a small roof garden that has a view of the Acropolis. I have posted a realistic photo that is not zoomed in or anything to give a good idea of the proximity. There is also a sister hotel called the Plaka that has a bit better view that you are welcome to visit. The breakfast is very good and varied. There’s something to suit everyone and I cannot think of anything that would normally be in a breakfast that was not there. The Greek yogurt and honey was a highlight for me. There was a lovely girl attending to guests at breakfast who showed a real interest in guests plans and offered help. She was very approachable and friendly. The location is very convenient for visiting many sights. Short walk to the Plaka stairs with lovely restaurants and it is easily walkable to the Acropolis from the hotel too. There was nothing at all to dislike about our stay. I would highly recommend to anyone.
Extremely satisfied with Hermes Hotel. Great price, convenient location, modern style and very friendly staff. Beds were very comfortable too! They also offer free tea, coffee and biscuits until 8 pm, which came in very handy after walking all day in the city centre. Breakfast was satisfactory too! I would definitely stay there again.
A cozy and functional hotel in a great location. Excellent breakfasts, spotty wifi, and nice coffee service during the day. The highlight of this hotel is the staff. At the front desk, Iana (may not be spelled correctly) was welcoming and helpful with directions and activities. She helped us solve a key problem with grace and persistence. Eva checked in with us each morning at breakfast and helped us find an open pharmacy when one of us was sick. The laundry service was great as well.
I loved staying here. Rooms are small but thoughtfully designed, and include a hairdryer and refrigerator! Location is perfect. Hermes is sister hotel to Hotel Plaka, and we were encouraged to visit the roof garden there for a better view of the Parthenon. Went there at night and it was stunning. There is also a bar at the Plaka roof garden, so you can enjoy some wine while enjoying the view and ambiance. Perfect hotel for price-conscious travellers.
Great location in the city. Very close to good restaurants. Hotel is spotless and staff are very professional and helpful. Lovely lady in the kitchen called Eleni really looked after us. Would definitely stay again.
The staff were really helpful, multilingual and friendly. The location is perfect right in the center and a very short walk from the airport bus stop. There was free coffee and tea and biscuits throughout the day. The terrace is nice and breakfast is nice and rooms are quiet. I stayed at Grande Bretagne (number 1 hotel in Athens) before, and I think with Hermes Hotel you will get 75% of GB service with 25% of the price.
We loved our stay at the Hermes Hotel from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Our check in was very smooth. Our room was fantastic and very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice and we even managed to get a breakfast on our last day when we had an early start. We were always greeted warmly as we came and went and all the staff were very friendly. The hotel is centrally located and is within easy walking distance of all the main attractions. If we ever return to Athens we will certainly stay at the Hermes again.
We enjoyed a lovely stay at the Hermes Hotel. We had the Family Room - two adjoining rooms with an outer door that locks. (The individual room doors lock as well.) Our rooms were quite comfortable and a decent size. Every aspect of our interactions with the front desk was superb - very personable, friendly, helpful service. The lobby has a computer, printer, hot coffee, and cookies/biscuits. We helped ourselves often. Wifi was dependable - the mini-fridge in the room is a bonus. I slept very well - the hotel is quite quiet, as is the area around it. The location is fantastic - take the metro to Syntagma Square from the airport - it's just a short walk from there. We also used the X95 bus to the airport - a really good value for a family of four. This hotel is in perfect proximity to all of the must-see sites. A real highlight was the breakfast - fresh offerings every morning. We especially enjoyed the scrambled eggs, feta cheese slices, pastries, orange slices, and Greek salad, but there was so much more. We even had a satisfying breakfast at 4:15 before our early-morning flight. Finally, they cheerfully stored a bag for us during our weekend away in Santorini which was very helpful. Wonderful service defined our stay.
