Great location, good value As a family having adjoining rooms was a big bonus, plus the location was a surprise as its in the old part of town, walkable to the Parthenon/acropolis etc. Just around the corner from a couple of lovely restaurants, but at the same time quiet back street so decent sleep. A short stroll to the main square (bus/tube) where the changing of the guard on the hour is a good watch. Also very close to the main shopping street so worth a stroll, just get lost in the streets, you wont be far away from base.
We enjoyed a one week holiday at this excellent hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, and the breakfast provided was extremely varied and very good standard. The location is ideal: very close to all of the main attractions and public transport, but in a quiet street with very little road noise. We stayed in a superior room, and would recommend this for the additional space both in the room and on the balcony.
We recently stayed at the Hermes Hotel for a total of 6 nights as we came and went from side trips and before and after a cruise. The Hermes Hotel had everything we wanted and needed- free wifi, a wonderful huge buffet breakfast with options for every taste, and rooms with comfy beds, fridge, and air conditioning. We loved the location as we were within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see. One of my favorite things was that every morning at breakfast, a staff person was there to see if our room was ok, if we needed directions, suggestions or any kind of help. Minor problems with our first room only were fixed that day while we were out. I highly recommend the Hermes!
You can walk to many of the major attractions and to hundreds of tavernas from this hotel. There is close access to public transit. The best part for us was the staff. We've never had friendlier, more genuine people on the front desk anywhere and we're very well traveled. They even had breakfast available to us at 3 am! Our room was a good size and comfortable but lacking any drawers so most of our clothes remained in the suitcases but I think that is my only criticism.
This hotel is 5 minute walk from Syntagma Square. It has a prime location in the Plaka. The hotel itself is a bit dated. There is only 1 elevator in the hotel. The rooms were a bit small. Decent for a 1-2 night stay.
We only stayed one night, but the location was fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and were a delight to deal with. Also the breakfast was amazing. Would have no hesitation in recommending this boutique hotel to anyone. David Sydney
Having not previously visited Athens I was recommended this hotel. If you're looking for luxury then this isn't for you. It's a great little budget hotel that does everything you expect and need. Rooms are not huge but I had a balcony (no view) and mine was spotless. The staff are incredibly friendly and a breakfast is included too. It is perfectly located to explore all the sights, restaurants and bars but isn't at all noisy so you can get a good nights sleep. You can also take a 4 min walk to its sister hotel the Hotel Plaka (literally just around the corner) which has a roof-top terrace and bar with direct views across to the Acropolis. A glass of wine here watching the sunset is just €5. I would definitely stay here again.
The Hermes Hotel is centrally located in the Plaka area of Athens, making it perfect for sightseeing. The rooms are typical of hotel rooms in any city, small. Our room, 408, was extremely quiet, a nice surprise for a room in the center of a major city. The housekeeping staff was excellent; our room was meticulously clean. The complimentary breakfast was very good and varied, with a nice assortment of bread, pastries, yogurt, eggs, fruit, meats and cheeses. On the day we departed our flight was very early and the staff arranged for us to have breakfast before the official start of breakfast. The lobby is spacious, with coffee available until 8:00 pm and there is a play area for children. The real star of this hotel is the staff. Everyone we encountered was efficient, friendly, and went out of their way to be accommodating and helpful. On check-in, the woman working the front desk greeted us warmly and took out a map to show us where we were and drew routes to all the major sites. Each day we were treated as valued guests. From the rooftop, you can get a glimpse of the Parthenon. For a better view, you can head to the rooftop of their sister hotel, the Plaka Hotel, for a drink. The view is astounding. The only downside to this hotel is that the bathrooms are extremely small. That being said, there was enough room on the counter next to the sink for all of our stuff, so it was not a deal breaker for me. I would stay here again, happily.
This hotel is an absolute gem. Located in Plaka, it's close to all the cool bars, pubs, restaurants in the uber cool Plaka area and also close to Monastiraki which is another cool area with tonnes of awesome cafes. Syntagma Square is also a hop slips jump away. Apart from location, the rooms are clean and comfortable too and very reasonably priced. But the thing that truly made our experience here memorable was the ever helpful staff. I would in particular like to mention Oana at reception who was patient and answered every silly question with a smile on her face and helped us with making reservations at restaurants and for day trips as well. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place in the heart of Plaka at a budget.
Stayed at this hotel in a large family group (23) and loved it. The location was central and the hotel was well kept and updated. Staff were very friendly, even when we checked out at 3am! Breakfast was yum - a great range to choose from and rooms were clean and tidy. The rooms are small but manageable - we stayed for 3 nights with 3 people in each room and managed fine. Small balconies which look off into a small street. Was a great way to start our Greek holiday. Walk to red bus stop is only about 5mins as is to lots of shops and restaurants. Would recommend this hotel to anyone on a short stay in Athens.
