i was lucky they upgrade my room to suite and it was perfect the breakfast was very good . It is a very good hotel clean and near the city center The service also was very good the staff was very polite
We stayed for two nights (a couple and a child) and we enjoyed our stay there. We had a single bed in our room for our child and the room still felt spacious enough--even though most properties in the area are matchbox-size. The breakfast buffet was really good too. The hotel is not super centrally located, but with a cab, it's only a few euros to the city center.
Great a little out of the centre however a cab ride costs 6 euros. We stayed at this hotel due to an absolute nightmare apartment Appolonos ( no power, no curtains dreadfull avoid at all cost) Staff found us 2 rooms at the last minute they were really helpful, breakfast was great, even cooked me an egg white only omelet. Would highly recommend.
We decided to stay here because it was well placed for where we needed to be in Athens, and it's less than 10mins walk to the Metro station (Megaro Mousskis) to get into the centre of Athens. The staff here from the reception staff to the maids were extremely pleasant. a couple of things could be improved though :- Firstly, although the breakfast had a good selection I feel it could benefit from expanding out alittle to include perhaps freshly made pancakes and french toast. I'm not really one for cooked breakfasts such as sausages, eggs, bacon etc. Secondly, we choose this hotel because I wanted some gym facilities (so all the eating and drinking wouldn't go on my waistline). The gym facilities were disappointing, whilst they had two good running machines, one of the bikes didn't work at all and the other bike was really old. There were no cross trainers or stop machines which would have been good. There were some weights but I don't really use. There was a steam room and Sauna, but then again I don't use those either but with 100 degree heat outside you don't need them.
My friend and I booked this hotel through a bundle deal on Expedia. It was rated 4 stars and said it was walking distance to the city center. Upon arriving the hotel seemed cute but then we got to the room which was old with the hardest mattresses in the world and hardly had any light. The front desk explained that this is the lighting in all the rooms. The worst was the bathroom light. We had to leave it on all day and night so that we had light whenever we wanted to go in to the bathroom. Then was the shampoo which was awful and the hotel does not carry conditioners. So the next morning we went to breakfast which had to be one of the worst breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel. Everything was extremely greasy and the eggs were very watery. Then we decided to walk to town. No way this hotel is near the center of town. It is around 4 metro stops away and there is no sign of life here at night. All in all this is not a place I would ever stay again nor would I give this more than 3 stars.
Having stayed at the Airotel Alexandros we needed to extend our stay in Athens. As Alexandros was full we transferred to Stratos Vassilikos. This was equally good. We were slightly concerned as we were in a 1st floor room facing the main road but we needn't have worried as we were not disturbed by any road noise. The staff here were also very good. The Airotel group obviously invest well in staff training. The breakfast was very good. We would happily recommend this hotel.
The best things about this hotel are its location - not super-central so as to be noisy, yet within walking distance to the center of Athens - and the fact that it is one of the cleanest places I stayed in. The staff, for the most part, is extremely accommodating. I stayed in a Junior Suit, so it was a pretty good size, with a balcony to boot. It's got to be said that this is an old hotel, which has been renovated at some point, but not very recently, I would venture. I found finishings to be lacking, and I felt especially uncomfortable riding the elevators, which are quite small and in need of updating. The light in the bathroom was VERY dim, to the point where even brushing your teeth was difficult, let alone applying makeup. We ate lunch in the restaurant once, and also had a couple of coffees from the bar - suffice to say the strength of the place lies neither with the restaurant, nor the bar. ( A cappuccino should be a mix of hot milk and expresso topped by milk foam, not the extremely bitter drink I was served.) But despite these small inconveniences, I enjoyed my stay. The bed was comfortable and the room impeccably clean, which is why I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, quibbles notwithstanding.
Around a 10 mins walk to MedLab, the hotel is around 15 mins from city centre at around 5-6euros taxi fare. Return taxi from Monasteraki probably more expensive. Hotel wise I got upgraded to a larger suite was was spacious and well appointed. Free WiFi and water in the room. The Stratos has a small gym and pool. The staff are friendly and helpful. During conference time the Stratos prices go up as do most hotels in the area. Breakfast food is ok. Overall I'd stay again.
Based ourselves at the stratos whilst spending a few days in the capital. The hotel's location is a little bit out of the main tourist areas and on a fairly major/busy road, so that's a slight negative. Good thing is the metro is only about 10mins stroll near the US embassay and theater. The hotel is showing its age somewhat so is a little dated and shows some wear for a true 5 star rating. Room was nicely appointed and spacious, mini bar scanty, some signs of wear and tear. The decor has an old world feel, the bed was reasonably comfortable, room service met expectations. We also had a very large balcony. One negative was the room air-cond which we were unable to adjust and got quite cold and noisy at night. As an older hotel the service lifts are quite small and only fit about 3 persons but it did not cause any difficulty or issue. The hotel has a happy hour at their bar from 4 till 7pm. There is also a restaurant for guests with a fairly small menu but most people should be able to find something suitable. We enjoyed our stay and the staff were very friendly, attentive and professional both at reception and other areas. The tariff also includes a full breakfast with Greek flavour, which was very nice. I would recommend the hotel if location suits and you are not anticipating a true 5 star experience in terms of pristine decor, swimming pool etc. (More of a 4 star level)
We had to spend one night in Athens prior to our flight and we chose Airotel Vassilkos This is a remarkably high class brighting clean and pleasant surrounding impressively covered with white marble. Receptionist was very helpful and efficient Bar and dining room are cozy and welcoming Room is large and bathroom is very comfortable location is a bit off center and parking can be sometime full up Other then this we enjoyed our stay very much
