Happened across the Pines online. We were planning on staying in the area and visiting surrounding towns. This was a great location. Close to everything but out of the way enough to feel secluded. We even had a mama turkey and her 9 babies ramble through the yard one day! It was nice to come back from a day of running and enjoy a glass of wine on the front porch. We didn't use the kitchen much as we wanted to check the local restaurants out, but we did visit Trader Joe's for some yogurt and the local farmers market for some fresh berries to enjoy for breakfast. Really nice area. I would highly recommend!
They are a quaint collection of private individual cottages, a bedroom and a full kitchen/dinette. The cottage was well kept, clean and well apportioned. There is a nice "backyard" with a picnic table and fire pit. It is convenient to Asheville and the Biltmore estate as well as the Blueridge Parkway. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I can't wait to get back. And yes, that is snow...
We stayed in Cottage 4. Cool little cabin, right off the main road, but set back far enough where you don’t even notice. It was clean. It has everything you need with a full kitchen. A/C worked well. Bathroom was small, but fine, and the shower was good. Chairs to sit out front. Plenty around if you need it, and not far from downtown. Good place if you like cottages/cabins.
My husband and I were up in Asheville for Memorial Day weekend and stayed at the Pines. It wasn't far from the main Asheville attractions which was also nice. We stayed in #4 which was a cute, little yellow cottage. It was a nice place to stay as there was a little kitchen; we didn't utilize it very much because our stay was kind of short. It had its own yard area with a hammock, fire pit and grill. We brought our dog along and loved how dog friendly the property was. The cottages are not that far off the interstate, but we couldn't hear road noise from our cottage. The cottage had some little quirks, but that makes sense since it's an older property. But it had all the modern amenities we needed. I would definitely consider staying again in the future! The German restaurant that I saw mentioned in a couple other reviews is literally two buildings down from the Pines and was a nice place for dinner after we arrived the first night.
We chose The Pines Cottages based on 1) we were traveling with a dog 2) the "central" location to the activities we had planned 3) the amenities of the cottage including the full kitchen and fireplace. Due to reading other reviews, we were already prepared that there would be traffic noise. Yes, these cottages do sit close to the interstate as well as a busy road. Though you can hear traffic, especially inside it was not too bad. The cottage itself was tastefully decorated and comfortable. We had a few minor things that needed fixed and we shared them with the management who was responsive. All in all, I'd definitely recommend and stay here again. The location, the responsiveness to the few issues we did have here and the overall accommodations were part of the great trip our family enjoyed to Asheville NC.
We stayed in Cabin 1, one of the original cabins on the property. The cottage was very cute, the office staff was very nice and helpful. Because the cabin is so old, it has a baseboard heating system. It wouldn't be that big of a deal but there was no way of controlling how hot it got. We had it on the lowest setting, the windows open, and the window AC unit blasting and we both woke up in the middle of the night in a puddle of sweat feeling like it was 80 degrees in the cabin. Also, the bed was comfortable but if you got anywhere near the edge, it folded down and rolled you off the bed. Me, being 8.5 months pregnant, I don't have the core strength that I normally do and almost didn't catch myself on multiple occasions. The cabin definitely needs a new bed and an updated heating/air system. We were very disappointed... For $120/night the room should be flawless AND SAFE.
It's not "luxury", but it's very quaint and lovely. Little individual cabins with reasonably well appointed kitchens are the stars of the show. We were able to sleep 3 teenagers and two adults with no problem. The shower water pressure left something to be desired, but the beds and couches were great and it was a big hit with everyone. Love this place, and we'll be back.
The cottage was perfect and the receptionist staff warm and accommodating. The room was cozy. The noise from the street is lost once inside. The fireplace was a great Xmas add and part of the reason we chose the Pine Cottages, but even more of the reason was the red, white and green exterior. The kitchen was equipped for preparing complete meals which we did some mornings. We didn’t have change to give the staff when we left but I took the envelope and will be sending our gratuity back via mail. I can’t thank you guys enough. Hope to visit again.
We had three generations of family with us and stayed in Cabins 5 and 15 (6 adults and 3 children). Cabins were clean, well maintained, full of character, well stocked with towels and kitchen ware suitable for the number of people in the cabin. Service was wonderful and location was great (heard the birds sing each morning) and within a mile of grocery store, in the country yet close access to highway. Cabin 15 had two separate bedrooms, so great for a little down time for the young ones or separation from activities for work or relaxing; it also had a fireplace inside and outside on the back porch area. Cabin 5 did not have a fireplace, but was clean and well maintained.
I’m so happy I found this place online. We were looking for a dog friendly place in Asheville for our anniversary trip. We stayed in cabin 1. It had a romantic shabby chic theme to the main room. Having a fireplace made it even more special. Even though we didn’t cook in the little kitchen we appreciate having a refrigerator and dinning table. The bathroom is small but still adequate. Lots of reviews complained about the road noise and although there was some it didn’t prohibit us for getting a comfortable night rest. I loved that they still had the old key and door lock. It takes a minute to get the hang of it but we both appreciated the nostalgic touch. The staff were all very friendly and they even left us a nice anniversary card with a bottle of wine. It was a wonderful surprise.
