This is a very nice hotel within walking distance of the Plaza de Armas. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was courteous. There are many restaurants nearby and the hotel also has a nice restaurant. It was a bit noisy--the hotel played Peruvian music in the lobby and our room was on the second floor just above. We asked them to turn it down, which they did. Otherwise, it was a good stay, and I would recommend the hotel.
Our group did not have water for several hours. Apart from this , decent room and a 10 minute walk down to centre. Please do not buy water from rooms (5 soles= small bottle) when you can buy 2.5 litres for 4 soles! Oxygen in lobby for the hard of breath!
Located bang in the middle of the main square, the location is perfect even if you have to tow your luggage a short distance as the entire area is a pedestrian plaza. A quick check-in, fairly adequate rooms, free Wi-Fi (limited connectivity as to the number of devices you can connect ), fairly decent breakfast spread (the restaurant has great views of the town square), and a generally helpful staff make for a fairly comfortable stay.
While modern and in a good position, six blocks from the centre of town, the room that we had was very noisy. There doesn't appear to be any noise insulation and there is no carpet so every noise is amplified, this wasn't helped by the renovations being carried out into the night. It was also very difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower so it was fluctuating from scalding to freezing.
The hotel is a modern, four-story building with two elevators and a terrace on the top floor. They serve a nice breakfast buffet and have local complimentary newspapers in the lobby. The bed is confortable and cable TV works very well. The only problem is that the toilet, as most in Peru does not work well and cleaning employees make some noise in the afternoons.
Clean room, hot water, nice bed and matress Breakfast was good, enough for starting a fresh day Location around 6 blocks from Arequipa's main square They offer free low speed wi fi and paid high speed service
This hotel was great, because the location was within walking distance to restaurants and sights. Buffet breakfast in this hotel is really great. They also serve dinner. Hotel was chosen by travel agent, but, we enjoyed staying.
We stayed here for a few nights while in Arequipa, it was a no-frills hotel but had a nice location, friendly staff and we had large clean room with quite a large rooftop patio. The continental breakfast was fairly basic, but I would recommend venturing out to some of the nearby restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine instead.
Stayed for two nights on our trip round Peru. This hotel is very well located just a very short 10-15 walk from the main square in Arequipa. It felt quite safe to walk to and from hotel even at night. Being part of an extensive Peruvian chain of hotels the rooms and hotel areas all have a very standard layout and feel but this I feel is a positive as you really only use the hotel for sleeping and breakfast when doing a tour. The rooms and public areas were all well maintained and clean and staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet style with a very good selection of both hot and cold foods. Eggs could also be ordered freshly prepared if one wished. The hotel has a rooftop terrace which has great views over the city and also of El Misti the active volcano that dominates the skyline. All in all a very satisfactory place to stay and can be recommended.
The Andina hotel group specializes in mid price hotels. It is frequently used by tour groups and it was booked through my agency. It is rated as a 3 star hotel. I was not pleased with my stay in Arequipa Classic for the following reason: 1- the location is rather far from the historic center. It is 6 blocks, while many good 3 stars hotels ( or better) are available within 2 or 3 blocks of the historic city center. It might be less convenient for the tours company cars/ busses to go more into the center. But for individual travelers it is much better. 2-internet is a simple disaster. They have a slow free service or a paid faster service. I tried both. None worked, neither on IPhone or IPad. After involvement of several people at reception, i got a day password, which worked for an hour. Later I gave up. 3- I got room 201, checked in by Patricia, it is on first floor, directly on the street. The street is ancient stones and cars make a lot of noice. It was very very noisy. Although I did an on time check-in she gave me the worst room. Because I am a solo traveller ? I hate hotels who first try to fill up the bad rooms. So bad customer service. I asked her angrily the next day, but no answer. They offered me dinner in the hotel as compensation, but I prefer paying for a good meal than having dinner there with the touring groups. I refused politely. I would not recommend this hotel for individual travelers, looking for a central location and staff that cares about the guests. Much much better is available in Arequipa. Arequipa is a great city to visit. So many things to see, and really nice restaurants. I will come back, but not in Andina Hotel.
