Fairfield Inn by Marriott Appleton2.5 out of 5.0

I'm only here for one night prior to an early morning flight out of the Appleton Airport. This is an older fashion Fairfield Inn. I'm paying a rate of $146 which is quite high for a Fairfield. I am a Marriott Platinum member and the room I got is less than I expected. Somehow this room became the Supply Closet as there is a unplugged humidifier, a space heater both in the corner of the room for no apparent reason. However the cabinet that should have a mini fridge in it is completely empty. Though the property is clean it is just one or two generations old. The front staff was friendly enough and the room thankfully is quiet but past that there's really nothing to Crow about. On the upside it is adjacent to a reasonably large mall and there's lots of food and shopping within walking distance. There are also a number of hotels that I will probably compare next time I'm in the area. At a better rate I would feel better about this but honestly $146 in Wisconsin seems a bit excessive.
We stayed for a short one night before flying out of Appleton. The property is very basic, but clean. The ice machine for all three floors is on the first floor. There is a convenience store adjacent to the Inn that is great for getting anything you might need or a snack. The highlight was the front desk gentleman - did not get his name but he had a goatee. The breakfast opens up at 6 am and we were up at 4 to leave for our flight. This gentleman asked if we had a few moments he would brew some coffee and bring out some bagels and muffins. So APPRECIATED - most places elsewhere would ignore you or tell you that you are way to early. GREAT HOSPITALITY. The queen beds in our room - 310 squeaked pretty badly - fyi
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Fairfield Inn. The king sized bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The morning breakfast had many choices and the food was replenished quickly by the staff. Although the swimming pool is small, it was adequate for our needs. The only disappointment was the lack of a hot tub.
I have always stayed in Marriott hotels because they are always up-to-date, clean, and in good shape. This was a major disappointment. Maybe if this was a $79/night hotel I would have seen why, but at $180/night, this is unbelievable. I do not recommend ever staying here until they do a major overhaul on this place. The front desk staff were very friendly so I didn't want to put this on them, but I should have just slept in my car....
Traveling on business and always choose Marriot for consistency. I was shocked at the price for one night but booked late and other options weren't available. Double what I usually pay for a Fairfield. On check in I was told that everyone was full due to a Packers pre-season game so supply and demand! Ridiculous. The clerk Colin was very nice and helpful. The morning staff was also friendly. Only reason they are getting two stars vs. one. Room was large but needed updated. Bed was not too comfortable as the mattress was old, too. No work out facilities. You have to use the Residence Inn around the corner or they will provide a pass to the local YMCA. Not too convenient!! Hotel is behind the times. Needs updated. Breakfast was as expected for a Fairfield and the did provide a bagged breakfast if you were on the move. That was nice.
During the AirVenture week this is a very pricy place to stay. Due to management issues with the staff, rooms were not serviced/cleaned for the entire week we were there. They only serviced rooms for new arrivals, if you were in you were a prisoner of deteriorating conditions. We did what we could, empty our own trash, cleaned sink, made beds. For what we paid for these rooms it was robbery. Unfortunately during the show other hotels were fully booked so we felt trapped and should have called the health department to deal with this place.
Not going to lie this place is due for renovation... the beds were clean and the TV worked if u know what I mean. just a fair warning. Not what you would expect for your typical Fairfield inn. The staff however, super super nice and helpful! Quick and helpful check in. Great location. No hot tub, free parking. To be honest though,I'd stay again.
So-so stay. Good: clean room with good water pressure and good A/C Bad: mattress so soft husband and I had to hug the edges of bed to keep from rolling to center; carpet in breakfast area is stained and filthy; ran out of oatmeal at 8:10 and breakfast over at 9 and was told it would take too long to make more; no planning ahead to have more ready; staff didn't really care
Just my opinion, but in no way do I think this hotel should ever cost $195/night. That is particularly the case when numerous youth sports teams are staying there. We've traveled with our own kids for tournaments, and I'm all for that. It can be a great learning experience for kids and a lot of fun for them and their families. However, the setup of this hotel makes it a poor experience for anyone staying there who is not affiliated with the kids and teams. The very small lounge area is right inside the front door, across from the reception desk. Understandably, people congregate there, but that makes for a loud and chaotic first impression. The chaos continues, because the pool is straight ahead in the middle of the main hallway as you walk to the rooms, elevators, etc. During our stay, there were at least 15 kids playing in the pool at all times. There were also lots of kids running up and down the halls and playing outside our windows on the grass. A ball bounced off our window at one point. One positive surprise was that, other than the running feet, we were unable to hear noise from the pool or adjacent rooms once we closed the door to our room. It was just getting to and from our room that felt like running the gauntlet. A tip: if you need a rollaway, check in early. We really needed one and requested it in advance. However, since they distribute them on a first-come, first-served basis, we did not get one, much to our kids' displeasure, because they were all gone by the time we arrived around 3 PM. We arrived at breakfast to find all of the egg and sausage trays empty. The woman working had a poor attitude. Rather than apologizing for the inconvenience, she snapped that it was all coming. The food did arrive after some time. No smiles or friendliness at all from that one. Our room was clean and everything it it was in good condition and worked fine.
We arrived late from Milwaukee and were greeted with a speedy check-in and a nice cold bottle of water! Room was large and beds were very comfortable. Good variety on TV and checkout was nicely set at noon for all rooms!
