Tulip Inn Antwerpen3.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is on an average level and is a comfortable stay for the price. The only highlight is its located close to the tomorrow land venue and Antwerp centre. The rooms are equivalent to the standards of a 3 star property
I booked this hotel as the hotel I normally stay in when travelling from UK to Netherlands and Belgium had a huge price increase for the 2 days I needed - possibly due to unusually high demand. After booking, I read the reviews, and became concerned. However the service was friendly and efficient, the place was generally clean, but dated and need of upgrade. I ate in on one of the nights, and the meal was very good - steak cooked to perfection - as you come to expect in Belgium.
Stayed here for 3 nights in May whilst visiting the Antwerp air show. Close to the airport and even though it is rated as 3 star I thought it was very good for the price. Yes, it is dated but it is clean, tidy, staff were really helpful, and the breakfast was superb, compares to some 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Near to a bus stop, within walking distance of trams and nearby restaurants. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
The hotel is adequate. More business like .Just enough for an city visit. No restaurant near by. The hotel does have a basic restaurant and a bar. This is used for breakfast buffet . Which is basic .Adequate parking places. hassle free check in and check out
We were here for 3 nights before moving on to a longer break in Holland. We wanted somewhere cheap, close to the city and with free parking. We were checked in nice and quickly on Monday 23rd by a very friendly young woman (Phanaty). The hotel is close to some good food options (5 minute walk to Dageraadplaats, a square full of really good restaurants). It’s also really easy to get the tram into the centre of Antwerp and the young lady on the desk was really friendly and helpful with directions and info. The room itself was definitely not the best. The sewage smell wasn’t too bad when we were in the hotel (we left in the morning and were out all day for the 3 days we were there) but when we left as they were cleaning all the rooms it was a lot stronger. There were a lot of dirty marks on the walls, the carpet needs a wash, the bathroom floor definitely needed regrouting, the walls in the bathroom were a bit dirty but the toilet, sink and bath were clean. The bed was way too hard for me and hurt both mine and my boyfriend backs. The room wasn’t loud as I’ve seen lots of people say. If you live in a city normally you’ll find this place quiet. I would say this hotel is ok if you’re on a budget and need somewhere to just sleep for a couple of nights. Not recommended for longer than 3 nights or if you are intending to spend a lot of time here. Good as a base. I definitely wouldn’t go back, but I didn’t have a terrible experience. It’s a shame as Tulip Inn is normally great. Seems they’ve been saying they’re going to have a refurb for over 2 years but I don’t think one is ever coming.
This hotel is situated in a quiet area it is a hotel that is only ok for a very short stay if you are on a budget. The hotel room I was in definitely needs renovation. Their is free WiFi and TV but no Tea / Coffee making facilities. Their is a restaurant which is on the expensive side I didn't try any food or breakfast so cannot comment but their is a Aldi close by for any needed supplies.
This is a sad situation. The Tulip chain are simply not investing in this sorry place. The overpowering smell in the corridors and rooms is surely hazardous to health. We were a corporate booking of 8 people and were able to leave but I feel sorry for private guests who can not afford this option. The staff look beaten and mentioned that they were ashamed of the hotel. Avoid - the worst reviews are right.
This is fine if you are exploring Antwerp and not spending much time in the hotel. There is a terrible smell in reception of men’s toilets as you arrive which is not great. The rooms are quite basic , though the shower is was good. No tea and coffee in the room but the linens were clean. The receptionist was really helpful and gave us directions to get into town. The main benefit of this hotel is that it is a 600 meter walk from a tram stop which takes you into the centre of town. You can’t buy tickets on the tram so you will need to go to the newsagent round the corner and buy some (it shuts at 6pm).
We have stayed in this hotel a few times and it really depends who else is staying there. This time it was full of teenage athletes who ran around the corridors knocking on each other’s doors most of the night. Obviously not the hotels fault but still disturbing. Our bathroom door did not close, but other than that the room was fine and clean. The beds are comfortable although small. The staff are all pleasant.
We have stayed at this hotel several times over the last year or so. We only stay for one night at a time. The hotel is in a convenient location for us and offers free parking and wifi. The staff have always been helpful and accommodating. The rooms are a little on the small side but they are big enough and are always clean. The hotel does have a bar onsite but we haven't used it.
