I just recently returned from a holiday for 3 days with a group of 9 lads who stayed at this hotel. I know all male groups can sometimes have a bit of a reputation but this was a group of family men all over 30. We arrived at the hotel together and were informed that we had to pay a deposit each of 50 euro/gbp. This was quite surprising as there had been no mention of this on any of the bookings and given we were only there for 3/4 days. It was a bit of a chunk of money to give over. We tried to pay this via bank card and were advised it must be cash. So we handed over £300 in English and 150 Euros. When we were paying the deposit we advised the manager that 5 of the party would actually be checking out the day before due to different flights etc and advised this would not be an issue as the deposit was not per room but per person. Come the day that 5 of us needed to leave we went downstairs to the reception and advised the guy on reception we were leaving and would like our deposits back. He refunded us for the additional room keys and the air con remote (anything you need in this hotel requires a deposit!) and when we asked for our deposit money back he was completely shocked that we had paid a deposit. This shows me that this is not standard practice and we had obviously been profiled by the manager and she had ad hoc determined she wanted a large deposit. Annoying and unfair but some people might understand it. He then got on the phone to the manager who was off site somewhere and he came back to us and she said yes and when we're we leaving...I advised him we were leaving in ten minutes due to our transfer being due and this shocked him. He spoke to her and then turned around and give me my 50 Euro and my other room buddy 50 Euro. Then 3 other members of our party asked for their deposit back and advised him they paid in English pounds. He then advised them he had could not pay them as they were not due to check out till tomorrow. I then went back and told him that the manager had ok'ed this on check in and regardless we could check out whenever and the deposit would be due back to us as rooms were left as we found them. He kept saying no we couldn't have it till tomorrow. He knew we were going home and this was frankly ridiculous. After much discussion he relented and finally told us he didn't not have any English money there. (Which is worrying as basically our deposits had been taken?) We asked him to phone the manager again and he advised us she was busy?!? After much discussion he agreed to pay us 50 Euro each. Obviously this meant members of our party were out of pocket as had paid more in English. This left a really sour taste in my mouth as obviously we had been profiled and then basically robbed of some money. The rest of the hotel was what you would expect for the money you pay. Basic but clean and acceptable. It was a bit of a joke how everything needed a deposit and the food was bland but you get what you pay for. Location was great as well and just a 10 minute walk to the new town main pubs and clubs. This would normally get a three star review from me and if you go as a couple I am sure you would not experience this above but any lads or girls in groups.... avoid it. It has left a really sour taste in respect of this hotel.
good staff very clean good beach view shame about standard of rooms and food tapas bar never open also front of hotel like shable also no bar there to have a drink and chat shame about that has great location
This hotel is an absolute dump, it is not even worthy of one star it might be an idea to knock it down, how anyone can give it 5 stars is beyond me. Doors are kicked in, the furniture is falling to bits. It resembles Beirut. It's impossible to sleep as the bin men come and do their collections at 1.00am every morning, doors are banging and slamming all night We didn't even venture into the dining room, evening meal was served between 8.00pm & 10.00pm but it was out on display from 2.00pm every day in the sweltering heat. Anyone planning on staying here, then god help you, there are even bars on the windows if your on the ground floor
This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in and am so glad I was only there four days. The room 609 was terrible and you couldn't swing a cat round the decor was awful the shower curtain was two feet short and flooded the bathroom, the balcony was covered in bird crap and the balcony a few feet away had a large dog on it that barked all the time. I don't know what else to say apart from stay somewhere else, it's a good job I'm a Cas tigers fan 😳
I have never stayed in a place quite like this. I stayed for 2 weeks and honestly couldn't wait to get home. The room was ok, upgraded to a sea view after reading the reviews on here and honestly I think if we hadn't we would have left on the first day. The food was adequate, had chicken once in 2 weeks, lots of fish. not a lot of choice for vegetarians Breakfast was brilliant, if you like pastry, great variety. restaurant was dark with no atmosphere. No bar though? Most of the staff were lovely, all bar 2. Had an awful experience in town with a chef, and the manager didn't want to know. The room was cleaned most days and the cleaning was immaculate. The lighting was also a big issue for me, the bathroom we has was very dark, with only 1 wall light fitted, and only 2 wall lights in the main room itself. the corridors were very dark, and painted odd colours. Lifts rarely worked, out of order multiple times throughout our stay. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE DISABLED. our friend came out to stay for the final 5 days of squalor and she couldn't leave the hotel some days, as there are 2 separate flights of stairs. only 1 plus socket in the room, and a phone which does not work. I understand this hotel is 2 stars, but there was no safe or fridge in the room, and nowhere to get cold drinks unless you go to the shop. the wifi was good, but you did have to pay, although it wasn't a lot. There was air con in the room, but it never worked even after the mechanic came to fix it. Fairly quiet, comfortable bed, no noise complaints. The only saving grace this hotel has, is the incredible views, the poinente beach and its a 5 minute walk from everything. (girls in their 20's)
The esmeralda beach hotel is in a fantastic location opposite poniente beach in the old town. It's close to shops bars and restaurants. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The food is plentiful but not a huge selection however no-one starved. My bed was comfortable and the room spotlessly clean. I wasn't impressed with the sliding concertina type door separating the bathroom from the rest of the room but I was lucky enough to get a room with a sea view although it came at extra cost. Overall it was OK I only wanted a clean bed near the beach and it suited my needs. I would and indeed I will return again
Just returned from a week at this great little hotel. Okay, it's not a 5 star, but then it doesn't charge 5 star prices. I was with a group of 12 boys, with ages ranging from early 30's to early 70's all in a room of their own. We stayed on a half board basis and we were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food on offer every evening and also the price of the wine (3.60 euros a bottle), which was far too easy to drink. We had paid extra to upgrade to sea-view rooms and it was well worth it, absolutely fantastic, just to sit and read on the balcony was a lovely way to spend an hour or two. I enjoyed my stay, enjoyed my room and enjoyed the food and drink, what more could you want from a holiday.
I went to the Esmeralda Beach Hotel 28th April 2017for 7 days, 1st thing Jet 2 don't tell you is that your get dropped off on the main street, which means you have 21 steps to get your up to the main street outside the hotel, once up on the main street you have 15 steps down to the reception. as soon as you are there you realise what the rest of your trip is going to be. We had paid £120 pound extra for a sea view, thank god- got into the room and although a 2 star you think basic - this is worst we had 2 single beds, the bedding was blue covered in cigarette burns and the rooms smelt of cigarettes, we had no dressing table just a bit of wood stuck out of the wall as far away as you can imagine from the mirror which is at the other end of the room, there is also a small wardrobe with 2 drawers which is the total furnishing in the room. there is also 1 socket in the room which is no where near the mirror for drying your hair, sorry there is also one for the tv which doesn't work, on the balcony there is 2 small chairs - no room for a table, I immediately phoned jet 2 who advised that I would loose 100% of all of the money I paid and would have to pay extra if I wanted moved. to give them some credit they offered me 4 other hotels which ranged from £200 - £400 which is not some thing I would have wanted to pay as I was on a budget. One other thing I really need to point out is THERE IS NO SWIMMING POOL, NO BAR sorry there is a bar but it was not open once in the week I was there it looks like it would be a good bar plenty of space but no beer taps and no one worked there at all in the whole week. Although this is a smoking hotel, there are no FIRE DOORS IN THE ROOMS AT ALL!! An accident waiting to happen, which we have reported to Jet 2 and had no reply# From outside the Hotel It highlights Tapas Bar!!!---- there is no TAPAS BAR!! although on a daily basis someone came in to the hotel looking for the Tapas Bar as the signs outside state is is a Tapas bar what a joke We have been in some not to good hotels and would never really complain but this is rediculous, so we finally we contacted Jet 2 as soon as we got home advising them of the above, and to date we still have had no reply We were on 1/2 board, and we had at least 3 choices a day for food, I have never in my life been offered practically nothing to eat just as well I am not a big eater. and Benidorm is a great place for food On the first night we were so tired we slept soundly, night 2 we hardly slept due to the noise from next door, I mean I heard every single sound of the couple next door 2 hours crying and 1 hour screaming and this kept us awake for almost 3 hours, I complained next morning and was told I should have complained at the time. Next five nights we had 2 girls who had been thrown out of their apartment they were night workers and came in every morning at 7 am and woke us this is the level of noise we experienced Good things there were 2 the matresses were brand new and comfortable, and the view we paid for was 2nd to none felt so sorry for the rest of the people who were looking at brick walls with no view
Just back from a great trip to Sunny Beni and not disappointed. The hotel was what we expected of a two star and was worth the £100 each we had paid for four nights half board. Breakfast was adequate shame about the bacon (was it actually bacon?) and the scrambled eggs. Evening meal was again ok wide selection hot and filling. The rooms were quirky and the view not the best but the fact that it is next to a stunning beach more than compensates for it. Would defo stay again.
Hi well when first seen the hotel I thought ohhh dear, but The staff meaning everyone was welcoming and very helpful, the room was nothing special but a bit of paint would not go a miss like in many parts of the hotel,But now the good points the view great looks right on to dove park And the Medeval market was on so it was great to watch,it's situated within easy walking to old or new town, bars just outside the door,no good for wheelchair users,But the best was the food really good choice for a small hotel and was changed every evening some of the best fish dishes I have ever had, rooms was clean and towels changed every day,I would go again wonderful as a base for your holiday.
