We last stayed here in 2016. Since then various renovations have obviously taken place. New windows have been fitted and the exterior has had a fresh coat of paint. The bathrooms have not been touched, and still have the old fashioned terracotta coloured suites. As last time, the hotel is very clean, and the staff cannot do enough for you. The hotel is nearly always full. I expect this is due to the price and the proximity to the centre, one minutes walk away. The roof terrace has fantastic views over the marina, and the Wi-Fi worked with no problems. The continental breakfast is good and adequate with various selections of cold meats, fresh bread etc. You can help yourself to as much as you want. As mentioned in my previous review, there are no eggs of any description, and the coffee still tastes awful! If you want something more substantial, there are plenty of cafes in the vicinity. For the price paid, you cannot go wrong at this establishment, if you are looking for a holiday on a budget. We enjoyed our stay here again in Lagos, and our return to the Lagosmar. Lancashireman.
I was very surprised with the Lagosmar given it only has a 2 star rating. The Staff were all welcoming, friendly and professional. A much more personal experience than some of the 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The room was clean and generous in size and had all the usual amenities. Heating or cooling was achieved with the aircon unit. No tea or coffee making facilities were provided but this is the norm in both Portugal and Spain in my experience.Given a selection of cafes were available 2 minute through the door this was no problem. The location is exceptionally good with a great choice of cafes and places to see in the old town immediately on hand. Would I stay again - certainly. Now, having said the location is excellent for walking to all amenities and sightsee, access by car is tricky because of the narrow cobbled streets. Here is how I did it! To find the hotel, I decided to park on the road by the river (Av. dos Descobrimentos somewhere near the Repsol petrol station) since it was night and plenty of space was available. I then, with luggage, walked to the hotel. I found it best to walk to where the Taxi area is and then turn right and start to walk into the main square, the start of which is alongside the taxi rank. On the right hand side I passed a cafe and sandwiched between cafe and shops came across steps on the right (Hand rail in the middle) and ascending up towards a street beyond. You can't see it from the steps but the Hotel is on the street at the top of the steps and to the left. Doing things this way, I was given a ticket at the reception which enabled me to return to the car and drive to the underground car park further up the road from where I was parked, The ticket gave me unlimited access to the car park for the duration of my stay for half the usual fee. Very good, but it is important to get the ticket from the hotel and then on the same day/night go to the car park and register. Note that the underground car park (Frente Ribeirinha) is immediately off Av. dos Descobrimentos and it is easy to miss the entrance on the right. If you parked near the Repsol garage, drive up to the Taxi rank then a bit further up to a large solid building to your right (The Law Courts) and immediately after is the car park.
Hotel Lagosmar is a nice little hotel not far from the main square in Lagos. The staff were friendly. The room was a bit cramped but it was only one night. Breakfast was ok. Not an amazing stay but certainly delivered what was on the box.
Spent a week here at the end of September. I'd booked this hotel for myself and a friend from the UK for our annual meet up. Was a bit concerned as it was so reasonably priced compared to another hotel close by where I'd stayed a few years ago. My worries were unfounded. Very convenient with spotless basic bedroom, breakfast room and general areas. Helpful, friendly staff. Good breakfast. Close to some lovely restaurants, the marina and beach. The only thing to note is to request a room with a balcony. I didn't but the roof terrace was lovely and made up in part for the lack of one. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
We stayed here for 5 days. The room was nice and convenient for us. There was balcony with table and chairs so we spent few romantic evenings there with vine and fruits. The bathroom had a bidet and it was a pleasant addition for me and my wife. The service was good and the cleaning was performed every day as per our request. The breakfast was good and hearty. It was good staying for good money.
l stayed at this hotel with my son. The location is great, quick assess to the main attractions and fairly quiet too. We enjoyed the rooftop area, although it gets very hot mid day, and wonderful sunsets to enjoy a glass of refreshment. The rooms are modest, clean and functional, but are consistent with their two star rating. So you are getting what you are paying for. Staff are excellent, we had a medical situated and they went all out to assist, so thank you for that! The hotel is within 2 kilometers of the bus and rail stations. Their breakfasts where good, with ample choices. i would definitely stay here again.
Booked here mainly because of location an great price as breakfast included - cost partner and myself 40€ a night which l thought good value Breakfast more than adequate but loads of places 5 mins walk away if you want something different or a cooked breakfast Location very central which more than makes up for any shortcomings Our room very clean and comfortable and maids came in every day and changed towels All the staff really friendly especially young man on desk who goes extra mile for everyone - what a treasure - they need to make sure they keep him !! Only downside was bar not open and they should acticely use the terrace as dining bar area which would be an asset for all Would stay there again Sue and John Liverpool UK
My sister and niece where staying here. She had payed pre arriving. We arrived at the hotel to drop my sister and niece off and we where greeted with a very disgruntled staff member assuming we where all staying in the room. (Myself, partner and daughter) She charged an extra €20 for my niece to stay, as apparently my sister did not specify 2 people would be staying. On arrival to the room there where two freshly made single beds, so they had obviously knew two people where staying. They did not let us help my sister and niece to their room with their bags. Rooms are very basic. Not all staff where unpleasant.
wife and i stayed for 1 week very clean and great breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful great rooftop area for sunbathing and relaxing, only minutes walk from oldtown and marina would definitely recommend and will be back ourselves
Hotel Lagosmar is a good budget hotel. The staff were friendly, continental breakfast was more than adequate. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard. The bed was not comfortable for us personally but if you like a firm bed it is fine. Initially there was only one pillow each provided, but we were given an additional one after the housekeeping staff realised we were using the extra blankets found in the wardrobe as substitute pillows. The air conditioning was efficient. The location of the hotel was central to the beach, shops, restaurants; all within walking distance.
