I stayed at the cascade hotel with my young family (kids 5yrs and 1yr) for a week in May and would rate as very good. The main reasons for not marking as exellent are detailed below. 1) Check in experience. I normally dont bother about this but we checked in just before lunch time and literally got the keys for our room (a suite) and nothing else. Whilst i thought nothing of it at the time i was disappointed to hear a fellow guest being offered a welcome drink, as well as information on breakfast times, maps of hotel and local area. Incidentally this was as i waited 15 minutes to speak to someone about getting another key for our room. 2) Issues with the lights , safe and air conditioning in our room. Ive actually never had any problems at any hotel in the past with either of these but incredibly we had problems here with all 3 (on different days). First the air conditioning , we couldnt adjust the temp on first night and had to get someone out to sort on day 2. Then our safe stopped working mid way through the holiday , so again we needed to get someone out to sort. Lastly the wiring of the lights meant that we had problems getting certain lights to come on - for example turning a light on in living room often turned the bedroom light on etc. This caused problems due to us having kids asleep. In all 3 cases the hotel quickly got staff on the case , it just struck me as a bit odd. (But maybe just a coincidence??) 3) I thought breakfast was quite poor. Now this may be due to us visiting out of season but i was really disappointed here. Wont go into too much detail other than to say ive had a lot better elsewhere. (This is mostly compared to some 5 star hotels in places like tenerife , paris and barcelona) 4) No shop on site. I just like having access to at least a small shop on site. 5) Football academy Was disappointed to find out that this wasnt running (due to being out of season) and that we were also unable to use the facility. The kiddy club was also closed (although we did still have access to the area) A lot of these minor problems are undoubtedly due to it being out of season but i thought it was worth noting. The positives are that the area is very nice and clean. We actually liked the location and often walked in to lagos or to the nearby beach (which is exceptional). There are some fantastic restaurants nearby (or say 1km away) - Alma Lusa being just one example. The driving range , putting green , spa and pools are also excellent. For those with young kids the pool with sand is brilliant. Finally most of the staff were fantastic. A special mention to Mariya who always went out her way to welcome the kids at breakfast. Also to Hugo for helping us arrange alternative transfer when a bus left without us. He certainly helped rescue our day (and again truly went out his way to do so) To conclude the hotel is very good, i just think there are a few small things to improve. (Although again this may we not be the case in peak season)
I just stayed at this resort with my fiance while were on vacation traveling around Portugal. The resort was very nice, we stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment (its not quite peak season, so it was pretty cheap). The apartment was very nice, very clean and clearly pretty new. The grounds are very well taken care of, with multiple nice pools, a good (but expensive) breakfast in the hotel. Its a nice resort and I can see why its so highly reviewed. I couldn't give it 5 stars for the following reasons 1 - its really hard to find, I had a GPS in my car but it couldn't find the address, and the street signs were not that good. They should send you something to help you find it. 2 - Its not that close to lagos or the beach. Its only a 5 min drive to the beach but definitely not walk-able or bike-able, its also a pretty good haul into Lagos. Its not that far but not as close as I thought it would be.
Fantastic resort for family getaways, away from the hussle and bustle of the old town of lagos but close enough for a long walk or short drive. My 1 year old son fell ill during our stay and the staff were brilliant at accommodating his needs. Nana, Sandra and Carla get special mention. All pools were unheated and too cold for small children, my son started shivering when using hence the 4 stars otherwise I would have given 5. Management please take note.
We are locared across the pool. Which is a perfect spot for families. The kids can play on the grass. Lovely view. The appartment is very clean. They clean it daily. Good bed. Perfect service of the staff. We booked directly and got the spot we requested. You can eat here very well but it is quite expensive. The pool is unheated but has a sand stroke for the little ones to play. You need a car when you stay here. There is much to do here. We will definitly return.
Stayed recently on a long weekend break. We had been to Lagos many times but decided to stay this time in the Cascade Resort. It was a superb experience from check-in to departure - beautiful room, pool and grounds fantastic (sitting by the pool all you can often hear are the birds whistling, so peaceful and quiet), delicious breakfast. But most importantly great customer service - helpful staff, professional who care about how they look after their guests. Yes its a bit away from the town but for us that was no problem - it added to the feeling of being somewhere special away from the hustle. Would definitely recommend the Cascade Resort.
2nd year now we have stayed at cascade and it just gets better and better .staff are fantastic surroundings are great .this is a first class hotel food and drinks are excellent swimming pools are good and not busy at this time of year beginning of may . excellent
5 star is the claim and based on our stay, of 6 days in April I don't think it's too far off. It's quite a large hotel with a combination of traditional rooms and stand-alone apartments set in spacious gardens. The feel is understated elegance in an environment where everything works as you would expect (or hope) Location is a little removed from the action and we used our rental car to shuttle in and out of the old town where excellent restaurants are plentiful. The hotel runs a shuttle bus but the timings were a little spread out so I would recommend a car to make the most of what's available locally. Breakfast was good and the staff were great. Concierge was brilliant and gave us some great restaurant tips. A good stay and a well run hotel which I would recommend.
First thing I'd like to say is to be careful when (like me) you read the poor reviews!! This hotel is excellent , and well worthy of its 5 stars. If you can't entertain yourself and you need entertainment without moving off your backside go to Benidorm ! Hotel staff are very professional , and the breakfast waitresses were great fun (especially Sandra and Nana). Received chocolate strawberry's and a bottle of wine ,when we arrived (our 30th anniversary ) and also a personalised chocolate cake for my birthday (without prompting them). Nice walk down to the town, but if you struggle to walk and the free shuttle isn't running then it's only about 5 euros for a taxi. Hot tub and pools are great ( 1 heated ). Breakfast is a good selection,(hot and cold). Comfy bed and didn't hear anything at night, and I'm a light sleeper ! So thanks Cascade !! 😎👍
The hotel communal areas are indeed lovely but I was very disappointed with our room. The safe was microscopic and there were no powerpoint near a mirror (the TV was over the dressing table) so it was very difficult to use my hotbrush. The area around the basins was also small making it easier to apply make up in the bedroom but the lighting was awful, so in summary getting ready was rather a chore for me (not necessarily for everyone). The room's sundeck was enclosed on both sides which made the room feel rather dark and restricted the views (shame as we had a sea view) also we had little sun due to the room next door being extended to the side of ours. Our room was not serviced by 3pm on the first day of our stay despite putting the sign out - this was rectified within 1 hour. The hotel is extremely clean. Breakfast is pretty average. My burger was very poor. Hotel is in a good location for Lagos and Luz.
The hotel was great in nearly all respects. We had a garden view double (the only room type available at short notice). On the good side: a super big room. Comfortable bed. Immaculate presentation. Friendly, helpful staff, who seemed to mean it, not just going through the motions. Great to sit outside for breakfast. Useful shuttle into town, albeit only available 9-11 and 4-6, but a taxi was only 5 Euros. Great location on the cliffs, with an easy and splendid walk to the lighthouse. A good sized outdoor heated pool at the spa. What stopped me giving a 5/5 score? There were not many places to sit and relax, inside or out, that were not a pool lounger or in the bar. Some days were quite windy and as our room faced north east it didn't get the sun, so somewhere in the sun and out of the wind would have been welcome. We arrived early, having had a morning flight and using the shuttle transfer provided with our holiday booking. We were given room 101, which I don't recommend, because it is next to noisy extractor fans. We asked to change rooms, and were offered another, in the same price category (208), provided we could wait for it to be made up. That was fine.
