Stayed here with 4 friends for two nights. We had three rooms booked. But, not sure why we spent two days (Sunday and Monday) in chambery at all - most monuments and shops were closed. Stayed at the Mecure in Chamonix, Avignon and here in Chambery. Found Chamonix excellent (left a separate review for it) but Chambery average, although you probably do get what you are paying for. Mattresses seem cheap and uncomfortable, but shower and linen is excellent. Didn't dine at the hotel but found the breakfast expensive for what it is. Most reception staff don't understand basic English so communicating with them was difficult. One English speaking staff member was excellent, helping two of my friends find a doctor to see as they were ill. I think that with Mecure, you are getting what you pay for and nothing more.
I stayed in room 602 for 1 night on a business trip. Location - very convenient across the road from the train station, and about 10 minutes walking distance from the old city, the elephant and the castle. Staff - very friendly. Room - Very quiet. The room I slept in has an entrance with a double door. I never heard any noise during my stay. The room is quite spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The bed is comfortable. Side comment - Despite my being a Platinum Sofitel Card owner, I was not credited any point for my stay, and not given the possibility to keep the room until 6 pm, the usual privileges granted to members of this card holders because I had booked the room through booking.com Conclusion I was very happy with my experience in this hotel.
Recently had the opportunity to spend a night at the Mercure hotel in Chambéry. Great choice and conveniently located across the street from the train station. Room was clean, modern and quiet -- which is all that one needs to get a good night's rest. Breakfast was very good with wide selection and delicious French crepes (a delight). Hotel also has an on-site bar with a good selection of local beers -- recommendation: try one from the Brasserie du Mont Blanc.
This is a great hotel close to the railway station, which is on the main Paris - Milan railway line and makes a good overnight stopover. Rooms are clean and modern with comfortable beds. Bathroom was clean and modern, if a little small. Rooms have wifi, TV and fridge. Desk staff were helpful. City centre is a short walk away, and there are various bars and restaurants nearby. Didn't have breakfast, which was a little expensive (16 Euros extra). Hotel has a restaurant which comes recommended but this was shut for holidays/renovation.
Rooms ok. Linens clean, bed comfy. Wifi worked great. Bathroom was tired. Appeared clean, but you can tell it's time for a refresh. Staff good, English speaking. Lobby clean, minimal bar. You are better off heading out for a drink. Breakfast buffet has nice assortment. Food was fresh. Directly across the street from train/bus station. I would have no reservations (pun intended) staying there again.
I have been to this hotels several times but it was the fort time with such a loyalty card. Thanks to this card, I was upgraded to a deluxe room. It aw more spacious and more comfortable than usual. I loved the experience it!
Situated within a stone's throw from the railway station in a pleasant town. Ideal as a stopover if travelling through France. Nice room - very clean and good breakfast. Dinner in adjoining restaurant - part of the same hotel complex. Food good although service a little slow.
I have visited in Chambery a handful of times and have stayed at multiple hotels. There are certainly nicer or more interesting places to stay here but this location is really, really nice. It is across the street from the train station so if you plan to take some day trips it is extremely convenient. But what I like most is how close it is to the old downtown part of Chambery with shops, restaurants, brick streets and everything wonderful that you think of when you think of France. So if you don't plan on being in your room anyway, stay here and walk all day long shopping, eating and drinking your way through the city.
I have stayed here from time to time, while visiting Chambéry. The hotel is very quiet - especially when you consider its location across from the train station. Hint - if you need a room with 2 beds, if you get a room with a couch, it opens to become a bed. Also, there is a restaurant attached to the Hotel that is definitely better than your average hotel restaurant, although pricey.
The hotel was perfect for the overnight stay we made whilst travelling from Paris by train as the hotel is merely a short walk across the road to the station. It was to the standard expected of a Mercure in that it was clean, with comfortable beds, good soundproofing and excellent shower. The continental breakfast was very good. We ate dinner in a local town centre restaurant which showed that this would be a convenient hotel from which to explore this interesting town.
