I came into Chambery on business. After finding the parking (enter garage on the side down a one way street, not the front), we were greeted by the helpful staff in the lobby (where they had a foosball table!). Check in was easy. Rooms were fine, and quiet, with plenty of space There were outlets near the bed for charging phones, which I found helpful. I found BBC News on the TV. The bathroom was small but fine, with a sizable shower. And, we enjoyed the breakfast the next morning (not included in our price). While there was no gym, I was able to take a nice walk from the hotel, with the help of the staff. They provided a map and highlighted a route to take to see the best of the old city and castle. We enjoyed the tour, even on a Sunday evening, when few were out and restaurants were almost all closed. The staff also helped us find a restaurant, which was great, with local foods.

We stayed here for one night as part of our train journey through Europe. The hotel is opposite the station and centrally placed to visit the bars and restaurants of Chambery. The service was second to none. The Room was large, clean and comfortable. So nice to have such an excellent hotel to stay in. Highly recommended.

Stayed overnight with Great Rail Holidays en-route Tuscany. Reception staff on the ball on arrival of large group. Keys sorted very quickly. Apparent concern by receptionist that breakfast could be tricky for such a large group in the morning combined with others in the hotel. Unfounded. Breakfast though busy was fine. Had to go out to dinner that night with Tour Manager arranged by GRH. A cold 10 minute walk but restaurant fine and enjoyed a good night. Basic food, plenty of cheap wine. Take it as it comes. Downside of this hotel; a really lumpy awful bed. Please look to Premier Inns with Hypnos super beds. Otherwise, as others have reported,...just minutes walk from the main station.

I have been using this hotel on and off over the last 5 years but finally I am going to give up using it. Its awful The hotel is tired and scruffy. Some of the rooms (mine was 115 this time) are so small that you risk personal injury just using the bathroom. The service (during my last visit) was utterly appalling. The lady "serving" at the bar was dreadful. Rude, arrogant and unhelpful. She needs to learn that we are customers and actually pay her wages. She was a disgrace. Frankly if she was an employee of mine I would dismiss her for the behaviour she exhibited On the plus side, the breakfast won't kill you. My advice : Save yourself. Stay somewhere else

An average Mercure but situated opposite the railway centre which makes it ideal for an overnight stopover when rail travelling. The restaurant was closed when we were there so had to eat in town. Breakfast was available and was good. Rooms typical of the chain.

This hotel is almost directly opposite the train station, so absolutely ideal if arriving or departing by train. The reception staff were welcoming and professional. Our room was on a high floor overlooking a side street and was pretty quiet. It was very clean, modern, comfortable and equipped with the standard TV, desk, lighting etc. The breakfast was OK though not a very wide choice, hence 4 rather than 5 stars from us. Would stay here again though, as it's just so convenient!

We picked the hotel initially for it's location to the train station. It is literally right across the street. The front desk staff was very nice. They all spoke English. Our room was very good except the AC in the building was not turned on yet. It was hot outside. The window in the room was small so opening it didn't help much. The next day we had AC! The hotel has a buffet breakfast which was very good. There is a restaurant but it was closed at the time for renovations. There are many restaurants nearby.

Mercure is more and more becoming the choise brand in the midsegment of the Accor hotel group ( a group controlling the no frills F1, the 3 Ibis brands, Novotel, Sofitel and Le Meridien) ecplipsing the once omnipresent Novotel brand of the same group. Newer, more dynamic and with a great hospitality and service these hotels are found in the suburbs as well as in the city centers. This one is in the centre of Cmambéry opposite the railway station. The long distance bus station is one block away at the back of the hotel. Great rooms with all amenities, fridge, flat screen, coffee makers and bathrobes (in the comfort rooms it is a nespresso machine with the original capsules. Great place to stay if you are in Chambéry.

People in the hospitality business make a difference. The staff at this hotel are a perfect example of this.Positive attitude and willingness to serve and help describes what We experienced from them during our short stay at this Mercure hotel.Rooms were good, quiet regardless of its location opposite the train station.Great shower.Breakfast was very good, great variety and very well set up.It takes 5 minutes to walk to the old town that can actually be visited in less than 90 minutes. Some very nice gardens also at walking distance with a great skateboarding park .

We stayed two nights to watch the finish of Stage 9 of the 2017 Tour de France - this hotel, located across from the train station was an easy walk to that venue as well as the downtown area and the old town. Hotel itself was modern, similar to Mercures we've stayed in before. Pet friendly, underground parking. Room was average size, only detraction was a fairly small window (all rooms appeared from the outside to have this problem): large external wall, but small window for some reason - but it did open all the way if you wanted fresh air. Staff was very welcoming and helpful - and spoke English. Would probably stay in the same hotel again.
