We were very happy with our room and the service received during our one night stay. The room had everything we needed, it was clean and bright and especially liked the mural on the wall, painted by Thomas Buchanan. Big, comfortable bed, great location for an overnight stay when attending an event/function in the CBD or surrounding area. Very reasonable rates, friendly and helpful staff both at check in and check out. Would certainly recommend the Majestic Minima Hotel.
I have stayed at this motel a few times and it was great and cheap, but basic, eg no fridge. had bed, tv and bathroom. I have loved this motel, except you couldn't pre book parking. When I stayed this time in May, I booked ahead for my stay in December, knowing I left it too late last year. I asked if the rate would be the same and was advised yes and given the rate. In September I've asked for an email confirmation as they still hadn't sent and they advised that they had increased the rate and my 3 night stay would cost an extra $156. I told them the change in rate quoted was unacceptable and with no satisfactory solution, I have cancelled my next booking and staying elsewhere.
A nice spot for a short stay, though the lack of in house dining / bar, gym etc would mean I wouldn't consider a longer stay than a couple of days. A really nice job given the facilities on hand though
Stayed for a whole week, because the staff were so amazingly lovely. Every single staff member was so nice! And the location is unparalleled: hairdresser, nail salon, bottle shop, pubs, restaurants, pizza shops, cafes, beauty salons, florist, chemist, post office, retail shops all at your fingertips! Street is just the right amount of busy. Unfortunately, I cannot get past this...Council was conducting "night roadworks" (literally laying asphalt) 15 metres from my head. For the entire night (10pm to 6am) every 10 minutes I was awoken by machinery and loud beeping that you hear when a truck reverses. It was absolute torture. I even used my emergency travel earplugs (which I don't usually), but still that beeping was so loud in the dead of night that it will be forever etched in my subconscious. The next day, I asked to be moved rooms and this was politely and respectfully done - but it was too late - I had already lost one entire night and day of my holiday. I was like a zombie! I would never have agreed to stay if I was consulted about this beforehand. I realise the Council was making the noise and not the hotel, but how many months notice was the hotel given? I was contacted the day before and told that access to the hotel by car may be tricky, but no warning about the incredible noise! When I complained, the lady looked at a letter from Council, which was pinned up in the reception area. Advance notice I presume? Considering I literally paid to sleep - I think a partial refund should be offered, at least to compensate for the one night that I did not get what I paid for.
Found this different in an ok way with the art work in each room. Staff were great - friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Found the room really small - perfect for overnighting if you just had I pc of luggage, but we were at the end of a 3 week holiday and had 2 larger pieces, plus 2 smaller pieces of luggage - there was no-where to put it - we were walking round it no matter where we had it. Loved the area.
It’s been a quite a while since I’ve stayed at the Minima and my stay this week was really good. The hotel still has a modern feel and the compact rooms are clean, comfortable and very affordable. Staff were very helpful and friendly at every contact. The hotel is very well located with plenty of places to eat along Melbourne Street and a very short drive into the CBD.
Second time staying here. Loved it both times. Only thing I can fault was the roadworks outside all night. But obviously not the hotels fault. Also the safe locked and we couldn't get it open again. But staff were very helpful
Stayed at both of your properties on Melbourne & Jerningham I would definitely return to the Majestic Minima. But next time I would like to choose the art work that looms over my bed. Staff were extremely personable & helpful
The hotel is okay; it’s not amazing and it’s not above average. We booked over a month in advance for a 5 day booking. When we arrived we had a lady checking in in front of us who was charged $100 bond, then when it came to us; we were charged $150. We noticed, but said nothing. I had phoned a month earlier asking about parking as we were flying from interstate and required a park for our rental, and was told it was “first in first served” basis. Apparently this was not the case as when we asked on checkin we were told people usually book in advance. Luckily we got a spot though so no issue there. The room we were given was 209. We stayed there for 2 nights and on the second day we finally had to complain. Both myself and my partner had had horrible sleeps both nights : the bed was extremely dippy to the point we felt we were rolling off the bed. I usually would accept a basic bed on holiday; but we were so exhausted we struggled to function throughout our days properly due to lack of sleep. We knew the room was going to be small: but we assumed all rooms would be of equal smallness and in a way just assumed we would be given the “nicer” of the rooms due to staying for 5 days. We assumed most people spend 2 nights max here on average; so assumed we would be semi looked after for being “longer” term. Probably won’t assume from now on as when we mentioned the bed we were given room 216. Oh my god it was like being in a mansion (compared to 209). To put in perspective; 209’s bathroom was roughly the size of a airplane toilet plus what you can imagine an airplane “shower” to be. Then 216 was about 3 times the size. Also, the ability to see sunlight in the room was amazing. Another strange thing is how they process payment. They “take” the money out on day one to hold it, then on check out the money is completely back into your account again. It then took two days for our bill to once again be taken from our account; whilst we still had full access to all the funds. I feel this is a very bad way of dealing with payment as some people would think nothing of the payment (as it was taken from their account their whole stay) then if they’ve gone to use that account again after checkout: have the ability to spend the money for the hotel. We were also charged a credit card fee as well as a visa fee which seemed odd The staff were always friendly and kind so nothing to fault there. The only reason I’m giving 4 Star is honestly due to the first room we were given: especially considering our length of time there. Plus that bed was truly horrible.otherwise hotel is extremely clean and location is perfect to get around all of Adelaide.
Nice street close to Adelaide (walk to the city if you want). Nice parks in the area. Good selection of coffee shops and restaurants (although at this time of year some are close or vacant). Hotel room is VERY compact. A king size bed is really over the top for the room size as you can just manage to get around it. Need to clear the desk to open the half height wardrobe door. However receptionists were nice, room was clean, modern, have a small balcony and access to a larger balcony on level 2. Laundry facilities in basement car park and windscreen wash equipment a novel touch. A bit different / better than average & I'd stay again.
