Situated on China's southeast coast, Xiamen offers an abundance of history, culture, and activity. The city proper is actually located on an island in the Taiwan Strait.
Of course, one of Xiamen's biggest tourist attractions is located off the coast of the main island. Gulangyu Island, which has historically been a Western enclave, is a small, carless island packed with architectural oddities.
The city's southern district has plenty to offer visitors. Take a stroll down the Zhongshan Walking Street, to shop at its over 200 stores, as well as enjoying the eclectic mix of Victorian and traditional Chinese architecture.
The airport is located on the northeast sector of the island. If you fly to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN), you will be only a few miles from the city center. You can make your way into the city via shuttle, bus, taxi or car rental.
The bus system in Xiamen is solid; Bus 28 will take you to the Gulangyu Island ferry terminal. Other buses will take you to the southern district, often with a terminus at Xiamen University.
Check out the historic Nanputuo Temple which has been in operation since 1622. The Oversea Chinese Museum, also located in the southern district, is a cultural center dedicated to the history of Chinese individuals who reside overseas.
China customs is intimidating...
All was good
This is a decent budget airline. I would use them again for cheaper tickets but suggest you bring snacks and a blanket. It is a budget airline. The food was not good, drinks were good, blankets are provided but you may need your own as I doubled up and still was cold. Staff was kind and polite. Seats are okay. Onboard entertainment provided but if you have netflix just download some to bring to watch.
For elderly passengers including first time Travellers using the Spore-Xiamen-Tsingtao-LAX route may find it confusing due to lack of info n signages at Chinese airports w lack of English speaking staff to assist.
immigration line was awfull and double checked
more variety for movies & music choices would be good...
Staff was very nice and friendly. Also the airline was very helpful with over sized baggage Thank you
Thanks for the great experience! Great team indeed!
Our first trip on Xiamen. Better than other Chinese airlines!
A great experience overall
Happy with the free hotel for long lay over flight...
I would definitely use Xiamen in the future. Great company.
