Oklahoma City effortlessly blends its Western heritage with the very best of current creativity, arts and culture. A must-see at the top of anyone's list should be the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. This moving memorial commemorates those who lost their lives in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in April 1995.
Nearby, don't miss the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and the Myriad Gardens with its seven storey botanical garden. To the east, Bricktown was the old warehouse district, and is now a thriving arts, restaurant and night club enclave.
Families will want to head north to the aptly named Adventure District, where you'll find Oklahoma City Zoo, the Science Museum, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. You could also visit the Frontier City amusement park, which is great fun for kids of all ages.
Flights into Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) land just a couple of miles from all of the action. Your best bet is a taxi for the short ride into downtown; shuttle services are available but must be pre-booked.
