Phuket International Airport (HKT) is located 20 miles from the center of Phuket City and serves the residents and visitors to the Phuket Province of Thailand. This is the third busiest airport in the country, and set a record in 2013 for 11.3 million departures and arrivals in one year.

Phuket International is the airline hub for Thai AirAsia. It is operated by Airports of Thailand PLC.
Facilities

Phuket International Airport (HKT) has two terminals that are used for international and domestic flights. In February 2014, the airport added Terminal X which is now used strictly for charter flights.

With the number of passengers on the rise, Phuket International began a $188 million expansion that will help to increase the capacity of the facility to 12.5 million passengers per year.

This renovation will include a new international terminal, improvements to the current domestic flight terminal and other major airfield improvements.
