In the wake of a mega-metropolis like Chicago, many of Illinois' smaller big cities tend to be forgotten. But, Bloomington and Normal still have a lot to offer the leisure or professional visitor; both are packed with museums including the family-friendly Children's Discovery Museum and the McLean County History Museum.
The David Davis Mansion, a Victorian style home that housed an American Supreme Court justice, can also be found in Bloomington. The Historic Normal Theater, Heartland Theatre Company, and the Braden Auditorium (on the campus of Illinois State University) all host events like plays and speeches in Normal. The vintage Castle Theatre in Bloomington offers concerts and karaoke nightly.
You'll fly to Central Illinois Regional Airport (BMI) which is located a convenient three miles from Bloomington and Normal's city centers. The airport is located right next to both cities and there are plenty of hotels nearby. Many restaurants are located on Business Highway 55, but most of the exciting points of interest are located on Business 51, in the downtown sections of both Bloomington and Normal.
If you're looking for something good to eat, then Bloomington and Normal have you covered. They've got a number of Italian restaurants like Avanti's in Normal, but they also don t skimp on local cuisine like the deep-dish pizza at Tobin's in Bloomington.
