Paraguay is home to many wonderful attractions, both natural and historical. Take a flight to Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) and enjoy any of the following wonders.
Take a trip to Salto del Monday, an 80 metre high waterfall, located in the Presidente Franco district, go birdwatching at the Mbaracayu Biosphere Reserve, where you can also observe the Ache indigenous tribe, or go to the Central Chaco lagoons to find exotic ducks and flamingos at the saline waters.
The Itaipu Dam on the Parana River on the border between Brazil and Paraguay is also a must-see. It s the world s 2nd largest dam at 7,919 metres long and it was named one of the seven modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1994.
For those more interested in history and culture, a visit to the Museo del Barro will satisfy your hunger for both modern paintings and pre-Columbian art and crafts.
Trinidad, a town in the Itapua department of Paraguay has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993, is also a good place to see Paraguay s colonial history first-hand. Trinidad and its neighbor, Jesus, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are both ruins of Jesuit Reductions that still stand today.
