Wonderful Property!

The check-in was extremely easy. The cabin was clean and comfortable for our family. The host was very accommodating and communicated with us throughout our stay. The pond was great, lots of fun fishing for the kids! We had a great time and we will be back!

Beautiful cabin with lovely scenery and a nice quiet are. Plenty nearby to visit and do. The only slight negative is we didn’t bring a ton of blankets (so bring yours!!). Other than that, this is going to become a regular trip for us. Andy is awesome.

The Unplug We Were Looking For

We have 3 busy teens & just wanted to unplug for a few days before the school year starts back. We’re nature lovers & this fit the bill. It’s close to adorable little towns, all things nature, & we loved that we could take our two dogs. Andy was very helpful & friendly, the cabin was great, & we loved the views. The kids have even mentioned they miss cabin life a couple of times since we’ve been home. The only thing I’d recommend changing, on the VRBO site the description says there’s a hot tub with this cabin. Or that’s how I interpreted it. I’d remove that from the description. It was part of the reason we chose this cabin over the larger one. We’ll definitely be back though & will book the bigger cabin :) Thanks for a wonderful week, Andy!

It’s what we wanted, great fishing, peace and quiet. Only thing I would add is more shades to the front and back door. We had a neighbor park his camper across from us and we kept seeing him looking through the front door window. We locked eyes once . So more blinds for privacy.

Had a great family trip to the cabin! Andy was a great host. Great location to visit the little towns and explore Backbone! Caught an almost 6# bass in the pond!

Andy does great job, fishing was great even though temps in the 90's. Campers are all vary quiet don't even no there aound. Cabins air works great!

Andy has done an excellent job providing the comforts of cabin camping! This is the second time we’ve stayed here and we plan on coming back again! The air conditioning was a blessing in this heat and the cabin was perfect fit for two, but plenty of sleeping options to accommodate more people if necessary. The peace and quiet is what I appreciated most about this stay, as neighbors were respectful and a far enough distance away to not feel crowded. From out the back door, you simply need to walk down some stairs and you’re at the lake. It was fun to fish and had some good sized carp and bass in it that provided us with plenty of entertainment. I really can’t say enough about this hidden gem of a camping location, you simply have to experience it.

Quiet getaway

We enjoyed our stay! It was a quiet and peaceful few days. We enjoyed being able to use the kayaks and paddle boat to do some fishing. It was a great, relaxing time!

Peaceful and cozy!

To celebrate my husband's retirement, we sought a peaceful place with a pond to overlook. Because our stay was during week in September very few neighbors. This location was just what we desired. Loved listening to the nighttime owls, geese and coyotes as we enjoyed our fires at night. Enjoyed use of kayak and paddleboat. Because our stay was during week in September very few neighbors. Cabin rented

We rented a cabin and when we got there and got mostly unloaded we realized the AC wasn't working. We called Andy right away and he was nice and have us the option of staying in the cabin we rented or switch to another smaller cabin and he'd reimburse the difference. We chose to switch. The smaller cabin was nice, it had things like pans, dishes, and linens that we could use. It was a nice area, really quiet and peaceful and we were allowed to take our dog. The only bad part was there wasn't any need, just a pullout couch, which was new, but still not very comfortable so we purchased an air mattress and put in on the floor to sleep on. Also the grill had a lot to be desired. Over all, we had a great time!

Great little place

We had a great time exploring this part of the state. You were supposed to call upon arrival but we had zero cell reception (Boost/Sprint) so we could not properly check in. We learned that Strawberry Point was the nearest place we had signal. That was the only hiccup. If you're looking for off grid peace and quiet this place is for you. We drove and hiked at the near by parks and did a little fishing in the lake. We would return

Great overall experience

The kids had a great time on the lake, especially the paddle boat. The short drive to Elkader provided a great shopping trip that didn’t consume a full day. The cabin was just the right size for our family and met all of our expectations.
