Stay in Southampton

We've stayed in this hotel previously and it always lives up to our expectations. The price for B&B is very good, although the bar menu could do with improving. We ate our evening meal at the Chilworth Arms which is busy but nearby. The staff are lovely and I'm sure we'll stay again.

Rooms lovely staff lovely food not so much

Staff and room was perfect. The meal was overly expensive for what it was. The area arund the hotel is picturesque and the manor house looks beautiful. The meal i would compare to a up beat weatherspoons not worth the fortune it costs. I have stayed in another smae brand hotel in Sheffield and the food is much better quality. I have to say though the restaurant staff are 5 star

Lovely hotel set in spacious and decorative grounds. I have stayed her once before and parking became awkward after 7pm. Very nice room with a good spec. Shower was ok but the shower heads had seen better days and there was noticeable mould on the tile grouting. The night's sleep was not very comfortable but I woke up to get a fantastic breakfast from the buffet available. The hotel guests have access to a small but well-equipped gym and had plenty of nearby options for dining.

A very nice stay generally where dinner was very nice and the breakfast too. The place/decor needs a little tender loving care as some age is visible in rooms and bathroom. TW.

I wouldn’t bother

We had room 6- Room 6 has the kitchen extractor fan going through the room in a cupboard- so a constant humming grumbling noise. I spoke to a member of staff about moving they said not possible as fully booked- the kitchen will turn off the extractor about 9 o’clock at night- it turned off at 09;45 - then turned back on for breakfast at 5;30- on a Sunday. A weekend away to relax and got was woken by this grumbling noise. Staff didn’t care. Had a broken hairdrier when called reception - I got asked if I was using it properly. It was broken. Shower seemed to squirt everywhere, and occasionally lost power and became a dribble. Spa was ok- steam room not been working for 5 months- this is one of the reasons we booked here. I realise the manor is older but the floor boards are awfully squeaky. Breakfast was nice. Won’t be staying again at a best western hotel

A Beautiful Hotel, Spoiled by Greed,.....

The hotel and staff were amazing, we loved the hotel and the beautiful grounds. The location was ideal visiting the New Forest and Southampton. The only thing that spoiled our trip was the stupidly expensive bar prices, We stay in a lot of hotels, so we are used to inflated prices, but these were obcene for mid ranged hotel! £21 for a pint of Carlsberg and Gin& Tonic!!

Nice but poor bed quality

Saltayed here quite a few times, it is always great food cleanliness all great, the shame this was the bed was terrible. Matress was bouncy and was worse than a air bed. Duvet was summer and very thin. I would expect better quality. Complained but no help or want to help which was very poor service.

Room was fine. Hotel was nice. Booked as had pool and little girl (3) lives swimming. Only on arrival did I find out that under 18s couldn’t use the pool except between 3-5 which was no good for us. Extremely disappointed by this.

Stayed in room no1 and although I knew the bed was on another level I had not realised it was on another floor. With corkscrew stairs to get there. Not ones to use if you were drunk. I would recommend leaving your case down stairs as there is a wardrobe there and awkward carrying a case up those stairs. Loved the room though.

Wonderful stay

Only stayed one night with our dog. We were allowed to take her for a walk anywhere on the grounds which were extensive. Had our evening meal and breakfast with other dog owners in the bar area which was great. Staff very friendly and helpful - will definitely be returning.

One Night Stop Over

Comfortable enough stay but the room temperature was cold with little chance of improvement given the size of the single radiator. There was also damp/mold gathering on the ceiling in the bathroom. (Room No:14)
