Wonderful Week

The property is just as pictured. It was clean and ready for our stay. Jan dropped by shortly after we arrived to touch base with us and provide info which was very much appreciated. She seems to take great pleasure in providing the best stay for her guests. The location on Lake Ontario was ideal and the house was well stocked for a very easy stay. If the opportunity arises for another trip to the lake, this will be our first choice!

Great location

The cottage is wonderful, we enjoyed swimming in the lake and the views are beautiful. We all had a very relaxing stay. Jan checked in with us early to ensure all was well. Highly recommend

A peaceful getaway with fairytale views

We had a restful stay enjoying the views of the lake particularly at sunset. The host was great at communicating and her videos reall made the stay anxiety and error free.

The perfect getaway spot!

Very cozy home right on the lake! Amenities are numerous, especially hot tub housed in its own building. That was awesome after a full day of exploring the area and hiking the trail on state land across from property. Outside fire pit by the lake was a favorite for watching some beautiful sunsets. King size bed was soooo comfortable. Least but not last, pet friendly property and she enjoyed herself immensely!!

Awesome place, Awesome host!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The house is so cozy and beautiful! The view of the lake was gorgeous and so relaxing! Jan was so nice and attentive! She helped to make our stay wonderful in every way! We will absolutely return in the future!

Able to unplug and relax.

We went in November and the area was quiet. The property was on the lake with a state park in the back which we were able to hike through with our dogs. There is a small brewery nearby (dog friendly!), as well as a small farmstand with goodies and cider tastings. We are looking forward to going during a different season to be able to enjoy the lake.

Perfect getaway from it all

Jan was the perfect host and made sure we had everything we needed. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax. It was a bit colder during our stay, so we cozied up by the stove, cooked some great meals, and just enjoyed our family time. Hiked in the forest across the road with the pup. They are currently renovating the sister house to this one next door. Can't wait to see the finished product and maybe stay in that one next time.

Jan's Cabins Never Fails to Please

This is such a beautiful scenic cottage. My husband and I and our son who is in the military truly enjoyed our stay in this cottage. Jan was so kind to point out trails to walk on since we were enjoying going out for a daily walk. This cottage has all the essentials you could ever want or need to cook great meals. The family truly enjoyed coming over for meals and to hang out. Sadly our other son and his family were not able to make it due to covid illness but we still enjoyed our time in this cottage and we look forward to coming back again and again!!

Peaceful retreat with amazing lake view

Beautiful spot especially in the winter when there aren't many residents on a private road. Very clean & well appointed, lots of small niceties such as local coffee & shampoo/conditioner pumps in the shower. Well stocked pantry for people who love to cook. Beautiful private access to a stone beach, the view from the house is a solid third lake, it's gorgeous!

Sodus Bay getaway!

This was a great place to stay. Close to many restaurants and beautiful scenery. Situated right on Lake Ontario, this comfortable 2 BR 1 large bathroom cottage was perfect. Bring your clothes and food and your ready for a great relaxing time. We came for a long weekend with another couple and we got just what we were looking for, time together and a chance to unwind. Thank you!

Staying on Jan’s property was a small piece of heaven. There are no words to accurately describe the beauty and splendor. We relaxed, disconnected from the outside world, and enjoyed every moment. Great time!

Went for a weekend getaway as a family. We brought our two young children and our dog and everyone had a great time! The house is super family friendly, the view is incredible, the park right out the front door is amazing and the cottage is so cozy. We were so sad to leave, we went home and booked another trip here in a few months! This time bringing along our parents as well since there is plenty of space for everyone. We literally could not wait to go back!

Peaceful and Serene Lake Cottage

The cottage was a relaxing getaway for our family. It is set far off the main road in a community of older but nicely maintained vacation homes. Jan is extremely responsive and helpful in getting to know the area. We enjoyed the Sodus area and traveling to the Finger Lakes, too. The house itself is a bit dated in furnishings but was very clean and the owner provides a well stocked kitchen and laundry area. (We would have given the property 5 stars if the living room furniture had been more up to date. The couches were not what is pictured in the listing. The flip side to this is that they do allow pets and I can see that newer couches would be an issue if people bring dogs that may ruin them). Now on to more good stuff- the deck has an amazing view of Lake Ontario. We spent most of our time sitting outside soaking up the view, reading books and grilling or having a campfire. Even though we had some rainy days and were unable to use the boats due to the high lake levels it was so beautiful- we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The beach at the cottage was not really accessible but the property next door had a little larger beach access. I am sure later in the summer there is probably more beach area at both properties. There is also a lot of wildlife in the state park area- we saw foxes and deer every day. Overall, it was a great experience and we would recommend the property. Also, the little farm markets (Youngman's and Burnap's) were almost daily stops. The salt bread and cinnamon rolls at Youngman's and pretty much everything at Burnap's are delicious and the workers are so nice. It was a great start to our summer of 2019!
