Palmetto Beachfront Hotel, a By the Sea Resort
4/5 Good
"The back of the building is horrendous; expect to be surprised. I was also surprised to get upgraded to the penthouse. Still that's not good enough to get them 5 stars. First I will recommend this place but only if you get the penthouse or beach front. The non- beachfront room are like prison cells. The elevator as ounds horrible and one is out of service Ther were crumbs on the couch and trash, plus some stains so that needs a closer look. Front desk needs to slow down on explaining the wifi password and pause between words so it doesn't sound as if the password contains more than it does. I found a waterand old milk in the fridge. I found another water bottle behind the nightstand. A lamp didn't work and snot was missing a knob. There were copious stains on the carpet and a few on the wall. I saw mold in the master shower and some loose ceiling tiles. The exterior doors were rusty but likely fixable. Expect to pay to sit on a lounge chair. The good is the clean pool and beach Access access. The Tiki bar service is deplorable, expect no alcohol. The bartender was nice though. The hotel itself is fairly clean but worn and sandy, but it is on the beach so thas expeced.. The lobby was and rooms seem clean. Oh, no AC in the elevator. I like the place, but it just needs some attention to detail. I don't think it's worth $400 a night. I would shop around but if available it's a decent stay. On the beach in mid July they are all trying to cash in."
