I’ve struggled with this review because I really wanted to enjoy his hotel. By Sapa standards it is one of the pricier hotels. I give the hotel maximum points for having really beautiful rooms. The bed in my room was huge. The mountain views are epic. The staff also try their best to make it a good experience. Here are the two major drawbacks:
1) The staff do not speak English (except for reception). It is a pain having to struggle to explain the most basic requests to them. You would expect management to train their staff at a hotel like this.
2) The major reason I chose this hotel were the amenities. They are beautiful. Here is the issue though. The hotel makes additional income by selling day passes to people. Every single day there was a hoard of backpackers buying day passes and taking up all the chairs at the pool. They flooded the gym. I had to wait until the evening to work out because of this. It also made the pool experience not very enjoyable. I recognise the the hotel wants an additional way to make money but it should not be at the expense of the guests’ comfort. This is in particular when they advertise themselves as an oasis and tranquil experience. Further, staff could not keep up. I ordered a drink at the pool one day that never came. I constantly had to chase people down to order / inquire when my food / drinks would arrive and there was always significant delay.
Again, staff are doing their best. It’s clearly a problem with management.
