This boutique hotel was a wonderful place to stay and great choice for a relaxing trip! Staff: The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. There is a small on-site shop, and the owner and her mother were especially kind and attentive, which added a very personal touch to the experience. Location: The hotel is located about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata airport, which made arrival and departure very easy. It also has a parking lot. It's within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. The area felt very safe, we never experienced any issues, and there was a visible presence of military police, who were always friendly. Room: Our room was quite spacious and comfortably accommodated 4 of us, with a king-size bed and twin- trundle, along with a dining table and large refrigerator. While everything was comfortable a few small updates (such as touch ups in the bathroom and replacing hangers) would make the space even better. But these were minor and did not impact our overall comfort. Overall: This is a great option for families, couples or even singles. The property has direct beach access, just past the pool and beautiful lounge area, which was the highlight. Their on-site restaurant (available as an all- inclusive option) has a wide variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its an open-air provides beautiful and calming views of the beach and nearby cliffs, making this stay even more enjoyable. We would recommend!

Staff attentive and warm. Room had great views though lacked any closets or armoires to hang up clothes even though there were multiple areas that could have accommodated such. A/c worked great. Daily breakfast buffet was actually $13 per pp w tax and service fee but still a good value. Proprietor was traveling but still sent messages to welcome us and verify that we were pleased the lodging. He even provided us w one day of free breakfast due to the error listing cost at $10 on Expedia. Many good Restaurants were walkable. Beach was swimmable about 2/3 the time due to rough surf. Elevator out of service for some time apparently.

Resort beach had unobstructed views and nice evening sunsets, no beach chairs, umbrellas or loungers not even for rent. Resort does provide a beach towel exchange for each person every day. The beach is not groomed or maintained it is a public beach with private access with security oversight from a neighboring resort. Resort has a nice pool area but no swim up bar or drink services poolside. Staff were great and helpful when needed. The meals are subjective and same offering of some traditional Dominican style food for most every meal including rice, beans and potatoes with accompanying salads and meat options. Breakfast never had bacon but included an island sausage offering instead. Fresh fruit was always fantastic and available with all meals. No evening events, music or excursion counter at this resort. The new owner is actively making some renovations to the property and committed to making this resort the best. Location is this resorts shining star close to many restaurants, shopping, bars, ice cream, markets, massage studios, and other beaches within an easy 5-12 minute walk. The area has a police presence and tourist protection I felt safe with my family to explore the area without concern for any safety concerns. This is a smaller quiet resort with a quaint and comfortable feel, some buildings within the resort offered no elevator and the ones that did were out of service so if you are older or are disabled you may want to request 1st floor.

I was fooled by the 9.2 review and chose this place, even though it is very old and dirty, and we spent about two nights in the heat with two kids due to a broken cooling system. The internet was very weak and limited, and it would frequently disconnect, causing me to miss my online meetings. More than 90% of the meals were the same every day during our week-long stay. There were no special activities except for one pool table for the entire resort. More than 90% of the staff were very kind, nice, respectful and welcoming. Our suite was changed three times, the first because of water coming from the ceiling, the second because of the cooling system and broken beds, etc. For those who are sensitive to cleanliness and very old building, who follow a variety of foods, and who don't want to get bored after a few days, I don't recommend it at all.

We were surprised on our arrival at the condition of the hotel . We understood that the original owner sold it and has now purchased it back so it is slowly being repaired. The rooms are dated but very clean . The staff are very accommodating and food was very good ! The lounge chairs have seen better days but the pool is very refreshing. The ocean bay was a delightful to float in for hours on end . The Wifi is very intermittent so hopefully that will get updated also . This hotel also hosts many church groups so I would ask prior to booking if you are looking for peace and quiet All in all we did enjoy our two weeks in Sosua by the sea .

Unbelievable staffing, so helpful and repectful. Rooms were impeccably clean with windows that slide open for cool day. Water and showers hot and AC nice and cool. Clean pool and clean grounds everywhere. A joyous stay at Sosua by the Sea!

Rooms were clean, the grounds are nice, you can't beat the location and the price. I met the owner during my stay and he is very friendly. The staff are very helpful. We were on the top floor and the elevator was broken. They offered to change our room for us and even show us alternative rooms but we decided to stay for the view. All the meals are buffet style. Breakfast is pretty standard, dinner was hit and miss but overall quite tasty. WiFi was quite slow and spotty I often couldn't connect to it. The pool while clean enough to swim in, didn't get fully cleaned every day...it got progressively dirty over the week. We finally saw them vaccum the sand out on the last day. Overall a good stay and value for money but there's definitely room for improvements as I believe this hotel has alot of potential.

The rooms are spotless. Beds were comfortable. Douvets were cozy and sheets are all clean. They obviously have pride in ownership. The owners were present, ensuring everything was in order. They once owned it, then sold it to an investor who unfortunately didn't love the resort like they do. Luckily they bought it back and you can tell they are putting sweat equity back into restoring the resort. It's incredibly charming- from the woods finishing to the immaculate floors. It's a great design and has very kind and hospitable staff
