We chose this home because the listing portrayed it as a bright, luxurious property with premium amenities. Unfortunately, the home we arrived at did not reflect the photos or the price we paid. It was much darker than advertised, had a persistent musty odor, and the overall cleanliness and maintenance fell well below what we expect from a high-end vacation rental.Several aspects of the property—including the condition of the kitchen, bathrooms, furnishings, and bedroom—left us disappointed enough that we made the difficult decision to leave after the first night of our three-night stay and host our out-of-state friends in our much smaller condo instead. Walking away from two prepaid nights was not a decision we made lightly. What was even more disappointing was the response afterward. We contacted management in good faith, hoping they would fairly address our concerns and acknowledge that the property did not match its listing. Instead, our concerns were largely dismissed, and no meaningful effort was made to resolve the situation.Every guest’s expectations are different, but if you’re booking this property because the listing suggests a luxury, bright, well-maintained home, I believe it’s important to know that our experience was very different. Based on both the condition of the property and the way our concerns were handled, I would not stay here again.
Pros: The property was clean. The architecture of the home was beautiful and there were many games, puzzles, etc. The home is near a Naval shipyard, and we got to see a lot of military crafts passing by in front of the home, including a submarine at one point. The owners are overall quiet and respectful. Other than sleep it was a positive stay.Cons: Listing this as an "entire home" for rent is somewhat misleading. The owners live in an "attached ADU" with a separate entrance, however the "ADU" is just a part of the home that is closed off. There are 2 points where this is obvious- one is a door that attaches to the primary bedroom that is sealed shut, but still has a 1" crack underneath where light and noise come through. The owners have a dog that barks, and we were often able to hear things like snoring, moving around, tools being used, etc., almost like having a roommate. If the property were listed at a lower price and it was made clear that the owners live in a part of the home that is just behind a closed door from the primary bedroom, it wouldn't be a big deal, but for the price of the rental and the fact that it is listed as renting an entire home, this was definitely a con. The bed in the primary bedroom was quite uncomfortable, saggy, and noisy, and we had to move to a different bed (the other 2 are not much better) due to back/neck pain and not sleeping. Given the price of the rental, the beds and living room furniture should be much higher quality.
The property was very relaxing, spacious with lots of amenities. The view of the sound was nothing short of amazing and tranquil. We used the rubber boots on site to go walk during low tide which was fun. So much sea life. The selection of movies was extensive. The puzzles on the walls were really cool and unique.
