Horrible experience

The hotel mentioned that it was managed by Best Western, so we have confidence to the brand and booked a room. Our room for 3 persons at ground floor without a fan and air conditioning, a radiator only. The outside temp exceeded 30C and the curtains were opened, the 2 small windows were shut, so the room temperature was very high. I asked the receptionist to change a room for us, but he said no. He asked me to open the small windows to open about a few inches to let air change. We felt very hot and waited for a long time, a fan was delivered to us. The fan fixing was broken, it was unable to blow toward us, it blew towards the floor. Most unfortunately thing was happened at night, bed with bugs and bite me all over my body (I can show you part of it), luckily except my face. My skin swelled and itchy. What a horrible experience! Is this hotel really managed by Best Western?

To be honest we arrived to check in and were kept waiting for 20 minutes as the receptionist was on the telephone. He then advised us that because we had booked via Hotels.com parking would have to be paid for but had we booked directly it would have been free. The final straw was when we asked if we could access the room slightly early to get changed for a wedding, only to be told that we could but it would cost per hour or part of an hour. The additional charges and parking charges would have cost about as much as the original room reservation. My advice steer clear, stay somewhere else.

We had a lovely stay here. The whole hotel team were welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean.

Reasonable hotel for the cost. East to reach, good location for travelling and decent breakfast. Didn't like the fact that had to pay separately for parking which is not mentioned previously. Booking direct gives free parking but blue if booked via any other site.

The room was spotless, a good size and the bed was comfortable.The staff were all very helpful. Breakfast was good with a reasonably selection. It was good value for money. This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we would definately stay again. Car park and outside area does not do the actual hotel justice.

Staff were nice- but just way too noisy 😭

Booked as it said on website there was 24 hr rooms service which I wanted to use as was off to an event too early for breakfast. Arrived to a (lovely) reception worker who said “oh we haven’t done room service for years”- and kindly told me where the nearest Tesco was. The room was fine but absolutely no sound proof from corridor at all and the doors all very heavy and noisy- guests wandering through the night (not hotel’s fault) and talking and footsteps constantly meaning I got no sleep at all. Went to speak to night manager- nice guy- in desperation at 2am- he had no real control over it which I understand. Hotel was clearly a well known chain of purple theme back in the day- looked really tired and no real warmth to the place. Room was a good size and tv worked. Just terribly poor sound protection and very heavy loud doors meaning it was a really poor experience and sadly we won’t head back there.

Receptionist is shocking!!!!

Receptionist wouldn’t reprogram key card she wanted the conformation emailed and wouldn’t accept quoting the name and booking reference number. What’s the point in booking a hotel if they won’t let you in your room
