It prolly was a bad ass place once, but that was a while back. Room was ample, breakfast was very decent, place was generally clean. Our keys went outta whack four times, ride the elevator on someone else’s key up and down, go to reception, wasted ten minutes every time. No apologies whatsoever, nobody cared, it was prolly happening to everyone. Pools were not clean, service around pools nonexistent, bar was close. Chairs were very very old and need to be thrown away. Beach gets ugly when low tide happens. Food at the adjacent restaurants was comedic, but the price was dramatic, so that was entertaining! Service barely ok! If you have high standards, stay away. This is the worse Westin we ever stayed at.

This is a 3 stat property. The disappointing aspect is that it is advertised as a non smoking property and this is not the case. No one enforced this rule as employees served smoking patrons right beside us on multiple occasions. Front desk staff refused to break ten dollar bills for us to tip the staff that were observant to our needs. Balbino was excellent. I would not recommend this property but it could be made more appealing if management strived.

The on the positive side: the "ocean" view room have a great view! We learned from previous reviews that room service food is faster, less expensive and not so bad. That is true, although they did get our order wrong, despite confirming it. But they did promptly bring a replacement. Another positive are the pools. Lots of pools for all ages. On the not positive side: The biggest issue was the bait and switch by this website (they blocked me from using the actual name) and the hotel. We reserved two king suites via this website. I called the hotel the day after reserving to confirm the reservation, request a crib and ask for adjoining rooms. The hotel confirmed the reservation (including the fact that it was two suites). However, upon arrival we received two regular rooms. They claimed that we reserved "premium" rooms, instead of suites. And refused to put us in suites unless we paid more money. Smaller issues is that the line to check-in to the hotel is LONG and slow.

The room itself was the best part. Super comfy beds and really spacious. The bad - the shower door didn’t seal so the floor was constantly covered in soaking wet towels. As other reviewers have stated - there’s nothing special about the food. The breakfast buffet is worth adding for the extra $11. Def not worth $22 per person though. We ate at the buffet once for dinner and it was pretty awful. We ate at fuego and it was way over priced for the quality of food. Same goes for the starfish place. But one thing they all had in common was terrible service. Though, as we move around to different areas (we’re now in Casco Viejo) and the service here is pretty awful as well. I don’t think anyone here hustles for tips. It’s weird. As for location - you aren’t going to do anything out at the Westin, so staying there kind of seems pointless. Where we are staying now is a cool area that you can walk around and there’s tons of shopping and food and stuff to do. And all the excursions we did while at playa Bonita, we could have just done from here. Highly recommend the monkey and sloth tour. By far the best bag for your buck at $30/person for 5ish hours! Ok back to hotel - as others have said, beach is terrible. Low tide seems to last forever and it goes out sooooo far. And you aren’t left with sand and tide pools, you’re left with mud and grossness. Do not stay here if you’re trying to have a beach experience. Anyway, I would recommend staying elsewhere - casco viejo has been great!

For an upscale hotel it should be maintained better. The buffet was not consistently good quality food. The pools need to be cleaned better. The staff were friendly.

There was no free breakfast. The buffet was the same every day. Only one pool bar open so you were always standing in line for a drink. A minimum $25.00 to go anywhere in a taxi and if you stayed out past 2:00pm it took hours to get back to the hotel.
