This hotel was advertised as a “5-star” resort, but unfortunately, my family and I did not receive service that reflected that rating. We often felt like we were inconveniencing the staff, especially when requesting basic amenities such as having our mini fridge refilled. The level of hospitality we expected simply wasn’t there.
Even more concerning, my family and I felt discriminated against during our stay. It was noticeable that the staff treated guests who resembled them more favorably. For instance, my elderly mother politely asked a kitchen staff member a question and was met with a raised voice instead of a respectful response. Many staff members came across as dismissive, and at times, outright rude—ignoring us when we sought assistance.
One particularly disappointing moment occurred when we were heading to the pool and approached some seats. A lifeguard saw us and abruptly told us, in a rude tone, that the chair we were going for was hers. It felt unnecessary and unprofessional.
This experience was truly disheartening. Like everyone else, we work hard and simply wanted to enjoy our vacation. While I would return to Jamaica, I would not return to this resort.
