Karen`s Ferngully - located down the road from the beautiful town of Mendocino
KARENS FERNGULLY – Mendocino, California
This home has a brand new hot tub and is very private!
Come find your way to Karen’s Fern Gully, hidden away in the magnificent forests of Mendocino! Located at what used to be the Mendocino Tennis Club, this enchanting property and luxurious 3-bedroom, 2-bath home invite you to embrace adventure and imagination. Just 1.6 miles up Little Lake Road, east of Highway 1, this vacation rental is a short drive (or a longer walk) to downtown Mendocino, an ideal blend of peaceful seclusion and easy access to Mendocino’s restaurants, cultural events, and coastal trails.
Play at Big River Beach or stroll along the stunning coastline as you window-shop, then find sustenance at the fabulous local restaurants, where you will discover delicious dishes. Or you can take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable deck, and ample space and seating to serve up a cozy and fun night in.
The kitchen has a refrigerator, freezer, oven, 6-top Kenmore gas stove, dishwasher, pantry, and cabinets, as well as a kitchen island with bar seating. The house also features a dining room with seating for four, a living room with comfy couch, chairs, and fireplace, and a small loft that’s perfect for children looking to survey their kingdom. Skylights, large windows, and a high exposed-beam ceiling ensure that the house feels light and airy.
The woods and towering trees that surround Karen’s Fern Gully give you privacy and a front-row seat to nature’s splendor, not to mention access to scenic paths. In summer, you can pick fresh blackberries, and the lush ferns and vibrant plant life are impressive year-round. Whether you’re looking for an Instagram-worthy background or a refuge to get away from it all, this is the perfect place to let your imagination run wild! You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into the pages of a fantasy novel… if fantasy novels included a big-screen TV in the living room and another one in the master bedroom. If you prefer literary entertainment, we suggest settling in with a good book on one of the window seats in the master bedroom or the living room. (With the redwoods right outside your window, it will feel like the forest is your reading nook!)
After a rewarding day on the Mendocino Coast, you’ve got three great options for where to sleep. In the master bedroom, you’ll find a California King-size bed, a ceiling fan, a window seat with sweeping views outside and storage space underneath, and a bathroom with two sinks and a jetted tub. The other bedrooms both feature queen-size beds and beautiful views.
When you’re ready to venture out again, the Mendocino Coast has miles of trails and wonderful state parks within minutes by car, including Russian Gulch, Van Damme, and the Mendocino Headlands. The Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is also worth a visit, especially on days when you can go up to the top and see the lens up close. You won’t want to leave this hidden paradise, but when you finally have to head home (for now), you can breathe easy knowing that you’ve aced your vacation!

Well needed respite
The property is secluded yet close to Mendo Village and less than 10 from Ft Bragg. Hot tub on a cold night was terrific. Lots of green! which was a welcome sight as opposed to the Sonoran desert. Several beautiful state parks within 10 miles provides an amazing opportunity to visit all of them. Botanical Gardens are well worth the trip and cost. Perfect cool temps. I wish the property had a washer/dryer on site so we didn’t have to go to laundry mat, but it’s not too far away in FB.

Peaceful, quiet stay
Had a lovely time at this cozy Mendocino cabin. The cabin was spacious and surrounded by green trees. There was a big yard for our pup to run around and a hot tub to hang out in. We woke up and read books in the window seats overlooking the yard It was only a 5 minute drive to the town of Mendocino which made for easy trips to go out to dinner or shop around. Would stay again!

Quiet, Peaceful, Private
This property is very spacious and private. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with pans and small appliances, though we hated (really) the coffee maker. It is a one cup at a time machine that does not have an expanded water reservoir so you have to add water and coffee between each cup. There was a very nice selection of spices, both savory and baking. All of our other negatives are pretty minor: broken blue chair on the patio (unsafe), broken toilet seat bracket in master makes the seat move around, master bed is too high for us short people, I grabbed a couple of 4x4s from the wood pile to create a step so i could get into it. Directions for how to lock the front door would have been nice and would have saved some time. Plenty of towels and dinnerware. Oh, bring your own TV software/HDMI cable as the channels available are basic and you can't rent anything on their system.
