We could not have found a nicer place to stay or a better location for visiting the area. The townhouse feels brand new and the furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. The pictures are very accurate. We especially loved the 2nd and 3rd floor patios - with beautiful mountain views. The fire pit on the 2nd floor patio was perfect for chilly evenings. Loreto Bay, the community, is very nice. Yes, it is a planned community with a lot of expats (does not feel like a locals' neighborhood) but it has its own charms - including the colorful townhouses and calm, clean, pedestrian-and-bike friendly streets, and a fun and yummy cafe serving great coffee and smoothies (La Sirena). It's an easy, 10-minute drive to the town of Loreto itself, where you can visit the beautiful central plaza, stroll along the Malecon, and eat tacos (octopus tacos were our favorite) and many other delicious dishes featuring local seafood and meat. We also enjoyed day trips to San Javier Mission and up the coast to Mulege (stopping at a pristine beach along the way), and a hike in Tabor Canyon. Through Casago (the rental agency for the house) we arranged for a private boat out to Isla Coronado one morning. Even on a somewhat chilly day (most of us did not go into the water), it was a beautiful boat ride, fun to see dolphins and sea lions on the way, and a treat to sit on the gorgeous beach looking back at the mainland. This was our first visit to Loreto and we highly recommend the area and this rental!
