A Wee Bit o Heaven - Cozy Waterfront Kawartha Cottage w/ WiFi, Canoe, Kayaks
House Rules (must meet these to book): Sleeps 6 (adults + children), Sat-Sat only during the summer (last week of June - start of Sept), Lead guest must be 30+ years old. 2 small or 1 any size well-behaved dog(s) are welcome. No parties allowed. No smoking allowed. A supplemental information form must be completed.
This Kawartha Lakes cottage rental is available for weekly (Saturday to Saturday) and weekend (Friday to Sunday) bookings in low season, but is not available for mid-week bookings. Nestled right next to the Queen Elizabeth Wildlands Provincial Park, this location is perfect if for canoeing and kayaking, and to feel that 'away from it all' vibe. It's a nature lovers paradise so if you want to catch sight of a beaver, otter, blue heron, loon, to name a few, make sure you have a camera handy. And, then there's the fishing!! Some of the best fishing in Head Lake is just off the shoreline.
This delightful cottage has lovely lawns and perennial gardens and faces south west. The deck overlooks the lake and has low seating for enjoying the sunsets and the view across the water. There's a firepit too for evenings of 'smores, stories and stars.
Inside you'll find a neat kitchen, dining and living area with a wide Muskoka room across the waterside of the cottage. Eat in or out and you'll enjoy wonderful lake views. Three bedrooms are off a hallway with a full bathroom..
For a traditional cottage rental this has all the bells and whistles. A dishwasher, Wi-Fi and satellite TV will give you all the comforts of home, yet you are right on the lake.
The waterfront has a shallow entry (it was once a boat launch) however there are some weeds in the bay. This is great for fishing but less so for a swim, so you can take a kayak over to the swim rafts (shared with the owner's property next door) and have fun jumping and diving. Of course, you may want to take the boats out to explore the beautiful byways of the Head River and the wilderness of the Provincial Park - it's beautiful.
At less than 2 hours from the city, and close to local towns, golf courses and hiking and biking trails, we think this will be a popular cottage. Book now so you don't miss your chance.

Things you need to know:
Up to 2 small or 1 any size well-behaved dog(s) are welcome at this property (sorry no cats) Linens and indoor towels are provided for all reservations; please bring your own outdoor towels A post-rental cleaning service is provided but the cottage is to be left in a tidy condition Garbage and recycling removal prior to departure is required The cottage has a south-westerly exposure Please note there is no direct access to the cottage. Guests will need to park at a neighbouring cottage and walk from there (approx. 150 feet)
Waterfront The waterfront has a shallow entry (it was once a boat launch) however there are some weeds in the bay. The new dock planned for 2023 will extend out into deeper water, providing direct swimming access to the deeper, less weedy, area of the bay. The waterfront is great for fishing, but we recommend swimming off the new, longer dock rather than accessing the lake from the shoreline. You can also use the swim raft (shared with the owner's property next door) and have fun jumping and diving off that.
Close-By Attractions Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park. This is a 33,505 hectare park that contains more than 100 habitat types and is a vast biological engine renowned for its rock barrens, and beaver fens. The park is non-operating, with no services, but can still be used for hiking and canoeing. Balsam Lake Provincial Park. Just 25 minutes from the cottage, Balsam Lake Provincial Park offers boating on the Trent-Severn Waterway, a large sandy beach, good fishing for Walleye, Muskellunge, Large and Small Mouth Bass, canoe, kayak and paddleboat rentals, and easy day-trip hiking trails.
The Kris Star Sanctuary. 100 Acres of land with public trails containing steep limestone slope created by glaciers, the Head River with a mixed forest of oak, line and birch, bird species such as the Mourning Warbler, Red-eyed Vireo and many more, Moose, Black Bear and White-tailed Deer. All on this one property, the ecological transition known as The Land Between is fully on display. Golfing. Links at Monck's Landing is a 9-hole "links-style" layout, inspired by the classic golf courses of the British Isles: treeless, rolling terrain, pot bunkers, high fescue rough. Just outside of Norland, Ontario, Monck's Landing is a family-run operation, offering "golf for golfers," that presents a unique golf experience sure to be appreciated by those who enjoy the history and traditions of the game.
Quaker Oaks Farm. Officially known as Quaker Oaks Farm, and less formally " the Betty Boop store " or " Tim Who? ", this hippie shop is an eclectic mix of great food, fresh baked goods and cool stuff. For twenty years now, the family has offered folks a welcoming place to stretch, relax, eat and take in a moment on the farm. Be sure to visit the farm animal sanctuary on the property.

Great vacation spot!
Great property tucked away on the north shore of Head Lake. Very private. Great for young kids in terms of fishing and the paddle board and kayaks were a hit and kept them busy. Owners take great care to ensure everything is thought of. Very clean. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thanks again.

Lovely peaceful cottage
Just got back from renting this cottage for a week, for myself, husband, teenage son and small dog. A Wee Bit o'Heaven is exactly as advertised. The little inlet is peaceful and great for kayaking or paddling into the QEII provincial park and the dock is lovely to sit and read. The cottage is well outfitted and has a variety of areas to sit and enjoy the view, including a classic screened porch. The property is on a wetland so lots of frogs and other wildlife. The dynatraps keep the property clear of mosquitoes (but if you venture out to the road you'll need a lot of repellent.) Wifi is excellent - strong and reliable. Great location for day trips to Minden, Fenelon Falls, and Bobcaygeon.
