SUMMER FUN - Things to do during your stay at Dream Big Bay:
Fishing: Lake Chippewa, also known as Chippewa Flowage, is home to the world record muskellunge. Anglers enjoy walleye, large and smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch, crappie, bluegill and muskellunge. The average max depth of the Chippewa Flowage is around 30' but just outside Dream Big Bay is Moonshine Lake that is 90' deep. We recommend checking out Chippewa Flowage (dot com) under the Fishing Report section for up-to-date fishing report.
Boating/Tubing/Skiing: Come summer and late fall, on the water is where you'll want to be for all day water fun! The Chippewa Flowage, is 15,300-acres with about 200 undeveloped islands. One of our favorite things to do is boat out and find the "perfect" sandy beach island and set up camp for the day. While some enjoy beach fun, others are out tubing and skiing for hours!
Nearby Resorts, Restaurants: By boat OR by land, there are several resorts and restaurants nearby. R&R Bayview is our favorite breakfast spot. Treeland Resort is one of our kids favorites to boat over for pizza and ice cream. And before you head out for a late day or evening cruise, stop over The Landing for their bountiful bloody mary (or beverage of choice).
Explore Hayward: Hayward Wisconsin is a scenic 25-minute drive from Dream Big Bay. Hayward is home to the American Birkebeiner Trail, Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame (home of the world-record muskellunge - 69-pound, 11-ounce), Lumberjack Show, Wilderness Walk Zoo and Hayward is dubbed the Golf Capital of Wisconsin with nine courses.
Downtown Hayward is filled with shops, dinning, coffee shops and more! Enjoy a day in town and while you are there, a be sure to check out: Backroads Coffee, Firehouse Bakery and Deli, Coop’s Pizza, Treemblay’s Sweet Shop (your kids will LOVE Treemblay’s) or Hayward Mercantile Company.

Nice Cabin in the woods and on a lake. Comfortable for two to three people. Kitchen is small but has everything you need and totally adequate. Shower has good water pressure, nice deck overviewing the water. Has dock/pier to access the flowage. Lots of nearby resorts and places to get good food either by car or boat. Host was great with communication and information on the local area.
This was the perfect getaway for our family of 5! The cabin was so cute / clean/ well stocked. It is located on such a great bay of the Chippewa Flowage. My husband was after musky & had one at the boat, follows, jumps nearby. Pan fish are abundant: walleye/ bass/ northern. Plenty of areas tube nearby the cabin too, so fun! The owners were amazing at checking in with us.We have 3 boys ages 14, 13, 9. They loved each having a kayak to explore around the bay. Water was so clear. We loved that it is no wake for boats in the bay so we all swam/ floated on rafts out in the water in front of the dock. It was a perfect way to beat the mid day heat for the fishing obsessed members of our family and just enjoy laughs together. Fishing was good off the dock, we caught bass there and plenty of sunfish. Also the boys loved trying to catch the big loud bull frogs! The sleeping arrangements were perfect. All 3 boys can slept in the loft. As parents we loved listening to their laughs/ stories/ giggles/ wrestling around. The main bedroom is on the main level and after a full day of fresh air we looked forward to how comfortable the bed was. Rocking on the deck with my coffee and book overlooking the water. We brought a hammock with and there were 2 trees perfect for it down by the dock to relax with water in the background. There is a gas grill and a charcoal grill both right off the deck. We used them each night! The firepit area is amazing and wood on site so reasonable & easy.
