The only good thing was the shopping mall opposite. This is my first time in hz.. and if to choose again I will stay near hu bin harbour area with more shopping malls.. but a 2day 1night trip is enough for hz.

Hotel badly maintain or no maintenance at all!!!

I will never return to this hotel again. We have chosen this hotel as my family has previously stayed in the hotel 2 years ago and it was good then. The hotel has deteriorated so much that it is not worse the while to stay in despite the good location. At check in, I requested for non-smoking room due to my sensitive wind pipe. Answer given by the check in staff was although the government in China has curbed smoking in the room, they cannot stop the guests from smoking in their room. What kind of control do the management has and looking at the state of the hotel, maintenance was poor or no maintenance at all. This hotel also allows their guests to leave their room door open while the guests were smoking heavily in the room!! There was also stain on the towel given. Most ridiculous was, I have asked to add a bed in the room. The kind of bed they added is not the standard roll away bed and there was no mattress given. The hotel has expected the guest to sleep on hard wooden plank!!! The hotel has the cheek to charge RMB250 for the wooden plank bed!!!! Better to pay more and stay at an international brand hotel!! I

Requested Non-Smoking room, but was allocated Smoking Floor on the 5th level. When the lift opens, the air is bad as you will walk passed the gambling room which the doors are widely opened, before you get to your room. Spoke to hotel front desk and was told the hotel is fully booked. However, we hardly see any guests in the hotel lobby and restaurant.

Great Location - Terrible Hotel

Location is perfect. However, the entire hotel lobby and rooms smell terrible, worse than an ashtray it's hard to breath. You get what you pay for so the facilities are very basic and old but it's a great location so just be aware there is a reason the price is cheap.

Great place to stay

Great location and nice hotel. The staff were very helpful too. Very comfortable rooms. Easy walk to metro station if needed. Lots of restaurants around the area and a very popular shopping area for tourists. Also nearby to beautiful temple. Will definitely stay again.

It was pleasant. The staff are friendly - and just need to be a little more polished. Indeed the Lady Manager personally helped me with getting on relevant train and bus routes by accompanying me to their stops.

Good 3 star hotel

The hotel was rated as 4 star but did not meet the expectations of a 4 star! Room was smaller than expected and amenities were minimal. The look/decor of the hotel was outdated. Otherwise we were comfortable with our stay.

OK room if you are not fussy

Booked 3 rooms in Nov 15. All 3 room's air con cannot be controlled. Asked the reception for help and was told the controller was a dummy one and all air condition is based on centralise system. The temperature is so hot and warm due to weather change that it was hard to breath! Later, changed a room due to faulty TV. Discovered that the air con can be controlled! Overall room is clean except room carpet and the wall by the window is dirty. There is only 1 lift serving to level 6&7 and the lift is slow and at times packed with staff delivery of linens.

Good hotel with some quirks at a reasonable price

Prior to selecting this hotel, I read the reviews and they were all true, still I would likely stay here again. Things that were good: Room was clean and comfortable, good location, reasonable price, friendly staff. Things that were not good: I requested a non-smoking room but none was available, the first day there was only luke warm water (second day was fine), no real exercise or workout room, some street noise (didn't bother me).

Nice hotel, great location

There are many places to stay around the lake, downtown area. I picked this one because of price and location. It was only after we checked in that we figured out that we were within walking distance of the night market for food and novelties. The local thing seems to be a leaf and paper wrap of whole small chicken that is then baked in earthenware. I've traveled to China dozens of times and the first time I tried this faire even after being in Hanzhou twice before, but not downtown. Could have had a lot more fun had my Chinese colleague and I been in town longer. The hotel is also within walking distance of the subway if you're taking the train into town; we did. Would stay here again for sure.

The hotel is nicely located, closed to Westlake, other scenic spots, and buses. The room size is fine, but there are too many people smoke in the hotel, in the lobby, hallway, elevator, and rooms. The non-smoking floor is ok, but other floors are horrible. If you are a non-smoker, you can't stand the smell.

My second stay at Victoria Regal within a year. Staff as usual offer excellent assistance to me on tour and train ticketing. Metro station Ding An Lu is few hundred metres north-east of the hotel. 20 minutes walk to west lake thru west lake avenue. (North-west direction).
