The apartment Francois is part of the Vrondos residence

This beautiful and cozy house “Vrondos” features 4 separate living units on a private plot in the quit village of Faneromeni, far away from mass tourism. It is the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy some quiet vacations. This great house has 280 square meters along 2 levels. The history goes back to the beginning of the past century. The down part of the house, now renovated and made up to two nice family apartments, used to be the storage space and the stable. The upper part, used to be the parental home, is divided in two to create two spacious apartments.

The apartment Francois is a ground level apartment. You enter the fully equipped open plan kitchen . It is fully furnished to easily serve the whole family. In the corner living room you can even create an extra sleeping place. The convenient bathroom is at the back of the apartmet next to the bedrooms. In the second bedroom there are 2 single beds. The master bedroom with double bed is next to it.
The whole complex is built with thick stone walls from 60 cm. This provides a cool indoor environment.

The ground level has a common barbeque terrace. This patio can be used by all the guests. A huge garden with lemons, oranges, olive trees borders at the ground terrace.
Bicycles are available, free for use, upon request.

The small village of Faneromeni is located in the south part of Crete. It is located in a scenic location, in a verdant valley at the southern foot of Psiloritis mount with altitude of 80 meters. You want miss out on local village cosiness. Mini market, coffee shops, church gas station are in the village. Bigger supermarket, bank, etc. can be found on 12 kilometres distance in the village of Timbaki or Mires.
The dam of Faneromeni is the gem of the village. The artificial lake covers an area of approximately 1000 acres and has a capacity of 20 million cubic meters. It was constructed in 2005 in order to meet the increased demand for irrigation of the Mesara plain. In those few years of operation, this lake of Faneromeni has become an extremely important wetland, where rare birds and animals nest. A walk in the dam during the spring is a wonderful experience.

Appartamento Michel

Abbiamo prenotato l'appartamento Francois ma un mese prima del soggiorno siamo stati contattati dai proprietari per chiedere se eravamo disponibili a cambiare con l'appartamento Michel, cosa che abbiamo accettato a fronte di un sconto di 30 €, quindi la nostra valutazione è relativa all'appartamento Michel. Purtroppo non abbiamo avuto una buona esperienza in quanto abbiamo prenotato (e pagato...) una casa con aria condizionata ma nelle camere da letto non è presente alcun condizionatore. Inoltre nella camera matrimoniale (ubicata nel piano mansardato) la temperatura era di almeno 15 gradi superiore rispetto alla zona cucina dotata dell'unico condizionatore della casa. Anche il bagno ed il frigorifero erano di dimensioni minime e certamente non proporzionati per una famiglia di 5 persone. I proprietari non li abbiamo mai visti neppure per il check-in ed il check.out, ma solo sentiti telefonicamente. Abbiamo avuto un problema con il condizionatore che si è rotto e ne abbiamo chiesto la riparazione, che è comunque stata fatta il giorno successivo. In sintesi non possiamo essere soddisfatti del soggiorno nell'appartamento Michel e del prezzo che abbiamo pagato per dei servizi (aria condizionata) disponibili solo nella zona giorno e non nelle camere da letto, una delle quali fortemente esposta e terribilmente calda.
