We chose this cabin for a family getaway with young children, including an infant. Unfortunately, the stay was significantly impacted by a preventable maintenance issue.The smoke detectors throughout the cabin had dying batteries and went off at 2:15 AM and again at 3:30 AM, waking the entire family both nights. The following morning was spent waiting for maintenance to identify the alarms rather than enjoying the property. By our final night, the smoke detectors had been fully removed, leaving the cabin without functioning fire alarms — a situation we found both concerning and potentially in violation of safety codes.Given the repeated disruptions and the morning lost to maintenance, we made what we felt was a reasonable request: a 50% refund for one affected night. The property’s response was to say the investigation would take several days, and after multiple follow-ups, we were told no refund would be provided, with no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or apology offered.The cabin itself had potential, but the safety issue and the lack of accountability in resolving it made for a frustrating experience. Future guests with young children or anyone who values responsive property management should be aware of how this situation was handled.
