Traveled with family and small children, Traveled with family
This lodge has two separate sides to it. We were in the rooms across the street so I can only speak for them. They are a 2 level motel feel. With very clean rooms. Flipped the mattresses for bugs and saw none. Has a fridge in room. Microwave in laundry room below. Our a/c was the "little engine that could" and by bedtime was freezing us. And had to turn up a little bit. Love that!!!
There is a small outdoor pool also. But across the street 2 minute walk to main lodge area is the indoor pool (stairway under construction as of June 2025) Fire hazard??take the elevator down to pool and outdoor pool. There is an indoor cafe also but I did not eat there. I did see a beer bucket special which wasn't bad!
My kids loved the pools and I was happy about them being heated!
No continental breakfast since the cafe is by the pool.
Hotel is literally smack dab right next to the motor trail which was also very convenient plus trolley comes to the front door at check in every 30 minutes to trek you around town.
Overall, hotel was good, only thing I would say I was disappointed about was the hotel did not provide fresh coffee in lobby, you had 2 servings in room and it was considered brown water, no flavor of coffee at all.
This place is old, run down, decrepit, and pictures haven’t been updated. It’s no place I would recommend and will not return to it again. The owners need to do a major overhaul on the rooms and property. There are very nice places to stay in Gatlinburg that are the same price and in great shape. Unfortunately we found them after staying at this place. Room had a foul odor.
I will say, checking in was easy, the people were nice and friendly.
Plugged my phone in by the bed it fried my charger, made the lights flicker, and the tv now won’t turn back on. There’s an old extension cord running to the tv behind the trim. Looked for a reset can’t find anything. Horrible.
It was good the Cafe wasn’t open I think because of the renovations that we’re going on the week, we went not a lot of people they were doing construction and some of their rooms so it was a little loud, rooms were a little outdated and need some TLC
We have stayed at Sidney James several times now, and I can't say enough good things about this place. The service is personal and friendly, rooms are clean and a good size for the price, they are pet-friendly and the indoor pool is worth the price of the stay. Whenever we need a getaway for a break from *gestures vaguely* whatever this is, we go to Gatlinburg and stay at Sidney James. At least one day of our trip is spend driving just 15 minutes down the road to the Chimneys picnic area. For $5 to park (get your pass at the entrance to the park called Sugarlands at a self-serve kiosk), you can stay all day exploring the area. We took food and activities and we spend all day there this week. My kids had a BLAST. This is really a beautiful area and we always leave feeling refreshed.
I loved the pool, spa, and sauna. This place is in a great location, and the ferry stops right out front. The only downside is the pet-friendly rooms are a bit older, so the walls are thin, but this was no fault of the hotel's. We will definitely be staying here whenever we visit Gatlinburg.
Second time here so that said it's not anything special but for the most part it's decent for the price and location is good. It's an older hotel so it's not perfect but it was fairly clean and the pool area is probably an 8.5 out of 10. If your looking for something decent but not to pricey and walking distance from the strip go with this hotel
There was cockroaches and the shower wasn't working. When i went up to tell them about it they said it happens they are supposed to refund me one night.
The pool and hot tub was amazing, the room is clean but if you plan to leave your car at the hotel and walk figure out the trolley schedule cause the hill back up is no joke
