Malta is overrun with tourists, and, believe it pr not, has the worst food in Europe. It is SO bad across scores of restaurants, that it is hard to believe. Hotel placed me in a room next to a three day political rally, concert, and Independence celebration. It was incredibly loud and very crowded.
They charged me $1100 dollars for a tiny room with only a tub shower.
Stay here at your own risk. Not worth the time, money, or hassle.
The locals say that Phoenicia was very good years ago, but Malta is a tourist trap, and I do not recommend staying anywhere near there. Also, the hotel told me food couod be ordered in the lounge, but the lounge said, sorry, we arent serving after 930 PM. Also, I was told by the staff that the music festival was "only for one night," but that was NOT true. There were no rooms they would offer me away from the loud din.
Lastly, they were gracious enough to cancel my second two nights without penalty.
Malta is a terrible place to visit. Go there and the Phoenicia at your own risk.
Malta is a disaster destination with only two good things:
1) Caravaggio painting
2) St Paul was saved there after a shipwreck.
