Five Islands Village Vacation Packages

My husband and I chose Hawksbill Resort for our honeymoon, one of the most important trips of our lives, and it turned into one of the most disappointing experiences we have ever had. We stayed August 21st through 28th, in Room 107, the Royal Palm room, and we want to share our true and honest experience. The problems started almost immediately. The day after we arrived, we were both hit with severe diarrhea. We assumed it was a fluke until we started talking to other guests at the resort and learned we were not alone. Several other people told us they were dealing with the exact same issue. Once we saw the buffet for ourselves, it was not hard to understand why. Flies were swarming and landing directly on the food that was sitting out, and no one seemed to be doing anything about it. Knowing that other guests experienced the same illness we did makes it very hard to believe this was a coincidence. Our room itself was another major letdown. Room 107 had a lingering sewage smell the entire stay that we believe was caused by a cesspool issue. The shower water turned cold after only about two minutes, every single time. This is supposed to be a room people pay a premium for, and it did not feel like it. The restaurant experience made things worse. At Seagrapes, we personally saw a dead cockroach on the floor, and separately caught video of the resort cats playing with a live one. The island was gorgeous. The hotel as a whole is somewhat lacking in my opinion. For an all inclusive hotel, the lack of replenishing of in room amenities was minimal. For only having one restaurant for breakfast and dinner the options were very limited; especially for dinner since the beach grill closes at 5:30. Although you were able to get as much of the food you desired, if you did not like the item menus there was no alternative. Additionally, when eating at the beach grill menu items were often not available. When heading out for the day, if you did not get to the beach/pool early you would not receive a towel for the day. Additionally, the walk from the beaches and restaurant is more of a hike than a walk. It can be strenuous with the heat and dangerous if raining or not in proper shoe wear. Even after researching the different resorts and hearing from people's experiences, I feel it did not give a true depiction on what is available or the hotel as a whole. It is definitely a place to disconnect and recharge.
