Not as good as previous stays at different locatio

One day stay to break up long commute. Have used Village hotels before. Booked club room due to early start and knowing I would want a coffee and use of leisure before setting off. Coffee machine was broken. Staff simply advised they would report it, I therefore purchased coffees from on site Starbucks at a cost and without comfort of being able to enjoy coffee in the room. Light within dressing table did not appear to be working regardless of how many light switches I pressed! Bath mat was used, had hairs on it (several). Neon sign from car park shone through the window all night, making it difficult to sleep. This sign faces a lot of windows so can imagine it is a problem for many rooms. Have always been pleased with Village hotels previously. Some mis comms about opening times of various aspects of the hotel, no response when querying these.

We arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes before check in. In my experience at hotels if they have a room available they allow the check in free of charge. If your room is not ready, then you would need to wait. My room was ready and I was told I would need to pay an additional 15 pounds to check in. I decided to wait as this was ridiculous. I ended up checking in around 5 pm and was told I would need to pay an additional 5 pounds in order to use the pool. I tried to pay in cash and when they wouldn’t accept this payment they did comp the pool fee for me. I still don't Understand why you need to pay extra for the pool when you book a hotel with a pool. This boggles my mind. Bottom line is the hotel was comfortable and clean, but they are super cheap and try to nickel and dime you for everything.

A great place to stay for meetings and relaxation

The main lobby and spaces were vibrant and active, but the room was quiet and peaceful. Lots of great services/facilities and a really friendly staff.

I stayed here for 5 nights and each day I had to ask for fresh towels and/or toilet paper. In those 5 days, housekeeping only made the bed and took out garbage bags once. I constantly had to ask reception even though I had the “freshen room” tag on the door. I was in an accessible room and this was probably the worst experience I’ve had. I had family staying in other rooms and they received fresh towels daily. It was like staying in 2 different hotels. Do better!

My room was not clean when I arrived. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk. Guests must scan a QR code, and request a live person. I was exhausted so I "hung up" and just went to bed. The bed was very comfortable. I requested a room refresh on day 3. Nothing was cleaned, just the towels were replaced. The bench seating in the pub in the hotel are filthy - there is old dried food between the cushions and the seats stained and very dirty. I will not use the Village properties after this experience.

The welcome from staff was amazing, really attentive however there was no staff present for checking out. Very noisy outside the room, with the window closed, didn’t quieten down until after midnight. The room was cold and the thermostat didn’t work to turn the heating up.

Overnight stay.

Arrived fairly late in the evening so didnt try Hotels facility and only staying the 1 night. Couldn't fault the receptionists. Check in & out went smoothly. Received room upgrade without any prompts, which was a nice welcome. As we come down to see family regularly we will definitely consider using the hotel again.
